Aw, hell naw, Francis thought as he watched the ogre lumber towards him. He kept the spiritual weapon aimed at the closest ogre, and invoked a spine-chilling curse on it.

(OOC: Note that Doom doesn't have an alignment restriction.)

Elail saw the lumbering ogres charging and he decided to let his arrow fly, aiming his shot at the ogre closest to him, still wary of the fourth enemy who was yet to be seen.

The idiots! Leaping out like that... Well, I did miss, so... Trixip noticed he still hadn't been spotted by the ogres, and that was good enough for him. Summoning his familiar to his shoulder, he whispered some words to her in gnomish and moved forward silently as she flew, still prone. He stopped as close to his familiar as possible, then watched as she (familiar) landed atop the head of one of the ogres.

OOC: Preferably the furthest of the three, but any will do.

Using his familiar as a medium, he casted the touch spell SCORCHING RAY.

Sanity? Why would I need a useless thing like that? Now posting as Motor-Runner.

(The familiar ability is to convey touch range spells, such as Invisibility, and Trixip would be aware of that.)

The Doom spell did no more than make the lead ogre miss a step—no surprise there, fear-based effects were notoriously finicky, but that missed step allowed Elail and Grax to send deadly missiles into the creature's sides, and Francis' spiritual weapon made a palpable hit this time. The ogre stopped in its tracks, trying to decide which of the paingivers to charge toward.

The second ogre, still fresh, continued shambling in Francis and Mono'a's general direction.

The farthest visible ogre was lit up by the scorching ray, but seemingly took no more than a light toasting from it.

At this point, Ana decided it was time to act, bursting up from the shrubbery, and stabbing the only uninjured ogre in the back.

Someone might have thought that they heard maniacal laughter escaping the dark elf's lips. But that would be preposterous, and anyone who claimed so would be hallucinating.

The Ogres were almost upon them now, but the leading one flinched, buying Francis just enough time to brace himself. They would not get past him.

"Stay behind me, Ravenhide. This is going to get ugly."

Grax discreetly slipped outside the main battle, trying to position himself for a backstab: He'd try to flank an ogre that was fighting someone else... And try and rip his guts open.

Elail rereadied his weapon, preparing to let fly against the same ogre, this time going for a slightly more lethal shot.

Ana's dagger sliced into the ogre once, and again. The individual blows were not deep, but together they clearly discomforted the huge creature.

The more so when Grax stepped in with his scimitar. Nothing vital seemed to be hit yet, but the ogre's back was now raw and bloody.

((see the discussion thread for half-phase actions.))

There was still time. Francis cast a Blind spell on the ogre that Ana and Grax had attacked, hoping that it would give them an opening to take it out with minimal fuss, while he directed his spiritual weapon towards the one that was nearly upon them.

"Here goes nothing," he breathed, and braced himself.

The ogre that Ana and Grax had sliced up whirled about and attempted to decapitate Ana with its club, the wind of its passage mussing her hair. At that moment, she and Grax saw its eyes cloud over as Francis' blinding spell struck.

Francis' other active spell struck one last time at the lead ogre, slowing it to a crawl. One more good blow should finish it, if one can be struck.

The far ogre rushed up to aid its blinded comrade in the only way it knew how, by smashing the tiny folk, but had not quite reached them.
