Sure, we all know about the Peanuts library of animated specials, and all the Garfield specials. There's Boondocks, too, of course. But what about other comic strips? I know, for instance, that there was a Pogo animated special, directed by Chuck Jones, from the '60's, I believe, and even a Doonesbury one from the early '80's. There's all the For Better or For Worse animated specials that only ever aired in the US on the Disney Channel. Can anyone think of others? And if you've seen them, how were they?

The Smurfs is one that comes to mind. You've listed pretty much all the other ones I know about.

Popeye!

Chuck Jones's take on Pogo creeps me out.

Yeah, there's a cartoon of the UK Dennis the Menace without the Menace, apparently.

I know Winsor Mc Kay made some Little Nemo cartoons, which is aside from the Chris Columbus/Tokyo Movie Shinsa films that was released in the early 90's. There's an old comic strip called Toonerville Folks that had a series of animated shorts done about it in the 30's (you can find them on a lot of the big "public domain" cartoon collections). Even Li'l Abner had a few animated shorts (though they kinda sucked).

The UK Dennis the Menance has two animated series, actually.

One older one called Dennis the Menance, I think it was 1996, that I thought was pretty good*

, which lasted for two series and is known as Dennis and Gnasher outside the UK.

And the other more recent one (2009), called Dennis and Gnasher in the UK, which updates and modernises all the characters and thus I have an unconditional hate for it.

Right... Which series is it that The Hub has? I saw "Dennis and Gnasher" on hubworld.com once, but I couldn't check it out because full episodes had stopped working for me.

A Wish For Wings That Work is pretty good, even if it is a little surreal hearing the voice of Chaz Finster coming out of Opus.

[up][up][up]Probably the newer one. You can probably tell from the graphics, the newer one is a whole lot more sleeker, while the older one is very old at this point.

For better or for worst had a Halloween special. And the fact that my brother joked by dubbing the video by making the mother saying "Your a &^#*$ing good for nothing!" [lol]

Mother Goose And Grimm got a cartoon done by the Garfield And Friends people.

There's also Heathcliff of course.

Harvey Pecker had an biographical documentary/narrative made, although that was mostly live-action with only occasional moments of animation.

For Better Or For Worse also had a Christmas special.

FBOFW actually had two Christmas specials. Platypus Comix reviewed them both.

Family Circus also had a couple holiday specials. I remember watching the Easter one about 15 years ago.

The Dreamworks Animation film Over The Hedge is based on the newspaper comic of the same name.

Technically Duck Tales (even if a few responsible for the Scrooge Mc Duck comics hate it).

Yeah I remember watching the orginal Dennis cartoon, if I remember correctly it was a bit more loyal to the comics (Dennis was a bit less toned down, more a Loveable Rogue than a borderline bully) and actually had some effect on them (eg. Canon Immigrant characters appearing).
