Since we have a thread about the Christmas Specials you dislike, I thought we may as well have a more general one.

So, what were your favourite Christmas Specials? Any witty commentary on Christmas Specials as a whole? Any ideas for one? Etc.

My favorites are Santa Claus Is Comin To Town, the Prep And Landing series and the old classics of Charlie Brown and Grinch

I look forward to any Prep And Landing short every year. I also love How The Grinch Stole Christmas (the animated one), The Nightmare Before Christmas althought that's arguably more suited for Halloween, and Bah Humduck!, the Looney Tunes special.

Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, although it does have pacing issues.

Can Christmas Episodes be listed here, or just one-shot specials/movies?

[up]Sure, why not?

There both specials made for Christmas after all, I suppose.

Then I also like...

  • The one in Pinky And The Brain. It's basically like a regular episode until you get to the ending. TMS animated it too!

  • The special in Kappa Mikey. Shocker, right? But I did mention this in last year's forum thread, and it's considered the best episode in the show.

I always try to watch the Hey Arnold Christmas special ever year. Now that is a Tear Jerker.

I also like that animated take on The Life And Adventures Of Santa Claus. Not the stop-motion one, but the more recent one.

The Little Drummer Boy.

Also, there was a live action TV special here in Puerto Rico decades ago, in which a little boy whose father was sick and dying, decided to go to Bethlehem to ask Baby Jesus to save his dad. Not realizing how far he was separated in time and space from that event! Then thanks to some Christmas Miracle, he actually succeeded! Or was it All Just a Dream? In any case, his father lived! :) Can't remember what it was called, though, so I can't google it up.

My favorites (Will maybe update list later):

  • The Muppet Christmas Carol
  • A Christmas Story
  • Disney Christmas Carol with Mickey Mouse or whatever the hell it was called
  • How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (Original 1966 animated version)
  • A Charlie Brown Christmas
  • The original Spongebob Christmas Episode that I think aired in 2000
  • Home Alone (It counts, it takes place during Christmas and has Christmas songs in it.)

[up] Also, that Spongebob one had a really catchy song in it. "This Christmas feels like the very first Christmas to meee~!"

Spongebob/Patrick: "Step out-side, we got some-thin' for YOOOU to see!" Squidward: "Sponge-bob, Pa-trick, why'd you do THIS to me?!"

I quite like the fairy odd parents' one in which Timmy wishes for it to be Christmas every day. Cue the deconstruction.

Mickey's Christmas Carol. Which should really be called Scrooge Mc Duck's Christmas Carol.

I also quite like Bugs Bunny's Christmas Carol. They managed to condense the whole story into seven minutes.

I'm fond of the South Park ones, especially "Red Sleigh Down". grin

I'm also currently eagerly awaiting the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special.

Though of course the latter is not animated.

I like the Simpsons' special in which they save the town from killer robots and have a serious debate with Gary Coleman at the end.

Phineas And Ferb's because... well, I would have to give spoilers to explain why it is the most awesome depiction of Santa in history.

I consider the The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy one to be a classic, thank you very much.

I did not remember much of the Pinky And The Brain one, but just recently read a recap in some site, and yep, it was great.

Any Christmas specials being shown now? I don't watch enough TV and only see about 3 channels, so I haven't noticed too many.
