Here's a question: is there a limit to the amount of IP you can stock up/spend? I assume that any points you don't spend on a character/building on one turn will be carried over to the next, but if one player manages to stockpile a few hundred points and pour them into a single character, then I doubt that the other players would stand a chance.
* If you can only get 10 IP per turn, though, do you really think you'll have that long before having to spend more anyway?
Ooh, another question: will players be allowed to gain IP through creatures' or buildings' Abilities?
EDIT: Is it possible to make a melee special attack?

Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman. No limit to the amount of IP you can have.
You can give a building, but not a creature, the ability to give you more IP. This will cost 5 IP for every IP it gives you per turn.
Special melee attacks are fine. Find price as normal for a ranged attack, then multiply by 3/4
Game will start within the hour.

Ladies and gentlemen, the game is on. Prepare for the ultimate war of the mind.
One note: This is basically Calvinball: The tabletop game, so feel free to use units that introduce new gameplay elements. If you want something that creats new terrain, that's fine. If you want to create a burrower unit that leads to an underground board that can also be played on, that's fine too. Just be aware that new rules abilities will probably be pricey.

Um. Can't speak for the others, but the board's showing up as a black square on my iPod.
EDIT: 'S not, really. Calvinball isn't coherent.

Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman. For me it's that small box with the red x inside of it that shows up when i can't see a picture.
And also white.
Any idea when it'll be ready?

"And then the dead man of the dead did dead things to all the dead people."-Two Best Friends Play Dark SoulsThree more questions * :
- Where do we post unit designs? *
- Will they have to be approved? *
- Can other players copy them? *
- Do you want me to stop with the questions and the telling-you-how-to-run-your-game?

Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman.1- Here is where you want to brainstorm them. When you want to build them post them in the game thread.
2- Yes, but I'd prefer you get it before your turn so I don't have to hold up the game to review it. That's one of the reasons I want people to brainstorm ideas first.
3- Yes
4- I don't care that much.
Still nothing.

Still can't see it, but then I'm 1. not on my computer and 2. not one of the current players.
I say again, use the TVTropes image uploader
.

Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman.Really? It's working on my end.
It's too big for the uploader, unless they recently started allowing large pictures.
EDIT: They haven't.

That is odd. It's probably my iPod. Lemme
◊ see...
◊
EDIT: Well, if you put it on TV Tropes, we'll all be able to see it. The important part, of course, is that the guys who're playing can see it.

Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman.Shit, double-post. Anyway, here is my proposition for a LaserBard:
Description: Clones of William Shakespeare, genetically modified to have laser vision and taught real bardistry.
Weakness/Resistance: Weak against Crushing, Resistant to Dark.
Stats: 85 HP/8 ATK/DEF 3/SPD 5 (yeah, they're fast little buggers)
Abilities:
- Laser Vision: Ranged special attack, 3 Burning Damage, Range 6. [26]
- Inspire: Recite poetry to rouse other troops to valor. Activated (C). All allied units within 3 squares gain a +1 to attack rolls while activated. Doesn't stack. [15]
- Healing Words: Poem of healing magic. Activated (S). Selected neighboring unit gains +(1d6*4) HP. [25].
Total Cost: 51 IP, if approved.

Need a tall, brawny fella to come by and inspect your pickle? Perhaps I may be this fella. If it's the dimensions that're the problem, you can always resize it. If it's file size, using fewer colors helps.
How big is it?

Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman. On my computer now. Still can't see it. Do you have to log into an account to see a picture on those sites?

IP cost of... 46, I think.
EDIT: Except you added the special attack up wrong. 5 to start, +15 for the 3 extra range, and +6 for the 3 damage = 26. Sorry.
It's what I do.

Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman.Looks good. If played it will take 5 turns to build.

Just so I don't make a blunder and derail the entire game before it reaches ten posts, I'd like to follow Ani's example and post my own concept here.
- Name: Drunken Soldier
- Description: A military man so tormented by his past that he became an alcoholic. Rather than letting this addiction slow him down, he decided to encorporate booze into his fighting techniques.
- Weakness/Resistance: Weak against Dark, Resistant to Burning.
- Stats:
- 100 HP
- 12 ATK
- 3 DEF
- 3 SPD
- Abilities:
- Brothers in Arms: Continuous Ability. For every ally (a creature created by the same player) on the field, D. Soldier gets an extra point in ATK. [Kinda weak, so +5 IP]
- Flamethrower Breath: Cone special attack. By putting a match near his face while spitting out his drink, D. Soldier hits enemies for 3 Burning damage up to the standard 3 Range. [25 IP]
Total Cost: 10+5+25=40 IP, I think.
Funny thing about that: I've got five creatures written down so far. All of them have 50 HP or less, and not a one costs more than 20 IP. Three of 'em technically cost zero or less; in fact, I should go give them my points' worth of HP back.
EDIT: I do wonder why the default building has less health than the default creature, though. To make them more expensive * ?

Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman.Title: Lories, 'Shardlings'
Description: Assorted little forest animals made of pure glass, that wear carved expressions of fear that turn to expressions of rage when attacking.
Weakness/Resistance: Weak against Crushing, Resistant to Cutting.
Stats: 10 BASE
- 60 HP (-40)
- 16 ATK (+30)
- 2 DEF (-15)
- 5 SPD (+20)
Abilities: - Crumbling Facade (C) (+25) Lories begin to break down over time when this ability is activated, dealing 10 HP of damage to themselves in a turn and 5 HP in damage to all adjacent enemies. When the Lories die due to this ability, they deal 40 HP in damage to all adjacent enemies. If Lories die due to any other cause, they deal half that damage.
Cost: 50 IP total? Dunno about this one, will need a look over.

So this is to place to discuss the current game of imagination wars (starting monday), brainstorm ideas for units, and ask rules questions. Have at it!
