I imagine anyone who's part of the "main" cast is rebuilt and refurbished on the regular, while more obscure characters don't get as much time devoted to restoring them.

Happy Birthday Jerry Nelson!

Floyd, Gobo, Count, Robin, the left head of the two headed monster, Frazzle, Mr. Johnson (Fat Blue from the waiter grover sketches), Trash Heap, The Amazing Mumford, Lew Zealand, Statler (originated him in the Muppet Show pilot, and took on the character again after Richard passed), and plenty of other recurring and one-shot characters!

We miss you!

[up] I feel you're singlehandedly keeping this thread alive.

[up] Considering I've made like at least 65 or so of the posts in the last four pages, I think that's a reasonable assumption to make. (I really hope it's not annoying or anything. I know I'm double posting, but I'm really the main person that's posting here anyway)

(Also, if you or anyone else has anything to add, I would be be very happy)

Also, here's more Jerry for the maybe two people that read this.

(I'm also thinking of starting a Muppets of the day post, but I'm not sure if it should go in the Sesame or Muppets thread, since I'd be posting both)

Starting a Muppet sketch of the day post:

Starting with a classic, but I'll also take requests.

(Putting it in both Sesame and Muppets for now, since I'm going to be drawing from multiple Muppet franchises for this)

Since it’s the first day (and I can’t help myself), here’s an extra special second Muppet Sketch of the day:

This one is a bit more obscure, but still a really nice song.

Seriously though, does anyone have requests for segments/characters/sketches they would like to see? (It could be from anything Henson)

Was that a request or a threat?

[up][up] I’ll take it! Here you go! (More of a edited compilation, but these things tend to be better that way anyway.)

If anyone has more requests, make sure to throw them my way!

(Also, thank you guys)

Since I already posted two Kermit Sesame Street sketches, let’s go with some Muppet Show next, with some Floyd and Scooter!

Today’s Muppet Sketch of the day, featuring muppet Jim, Frank, and Jerry.

Muppet Jim’s face when he says the word “love” just kills me.

[up][up] How many times did that act show up? I mostly remember them from this number:

#290: Jul 13th 2022 at 7:19:42 PM

Frank Muppet: “I don’t get it.”

[up]In terms of the Muppet Show, twice as a group, but I’m pretty sure some of the puppets were used in a few other sketches.

Outside of that, they have appeared in a few variety show appearances, and PBS promos mostly.

Since I’ve used a lot of Kermit, let’s change it up with a little Bert and Ernie for today’s Muppet Sketch of the day:

The full, english version of this sketch is actually very rare, and just resurfaced a couple of days ago, and it’s a treat.

Also, while there hasn’t been much official word on Muppets Mayhem, someone on the discord who has a friend that got to work on the show, did manage to give us this mini scoop. Nothing specific, of course, but still promising.

hey little scoop for people here. got a friend who worked on set deco for Muppets Mayhem. she can't give specifics on what she worked on but she did tell me everyone involved is really, really excited by it

lots of riffing from the performers that'll probably make it in, just a general air of enthusiasm for something that feels really different

It’s great to hear all the performers are super happy and enthusiastic about the show, and really makes me even more excited to see where they go with this!

Does anyone have any musician cameos they would like to see?

Personally, I think it might be fun to bring back someone with a connection to the original Muppet Show at some point. Paul Williams is probably the obvious choice here, but it might be cool to get someone like Alice Cooper back, as well. (He loves the Muppets, and would totally do it I think.)

I know I’m the only one who posts here regularly, but does anyone have any requests for my Muppet sketch of the day post? I have lots of ideas, but it would be more fun if people participated.

Anyway, here’s some vets hospital for today:

Also, would the The Muppets Celebrate Jim Henson special count as Noticing the Fourth Wall (or well, floor, or really lack thereof), you think? As the Muppets try to figure out who this Jim guy was, they notice that there are people underneath them, that move when they do, but don't really quite grasp the implications.

Robin: I remember this Jim Henson fella'. He was always hanging around!

Fozzie and Gonzo: Where?

Robin: (Looking below him) Down there.

Scooter: down there?

Robin: See?

Clifford: Hey who are those guys?

Robin: I don't know, but they're still following us around.

Gonzo: Hey look, when we move, they move! Try it!

(They do)

Fozzie: Stop, stop, stop, Let's stop looking at them. This is too weird.

Like the whole special kind of plays with the fourth wall in a really interesting way. The Muppets know they’ve all seen this Jim Henson guy before, but they never really quite figure out who he, or indeed, any of the other people standing beneath them, actually are.

I haven’t done any Waiter Grover segments yet, so here’s one that feels particularly appropriate for today, since it features Dave Goelz in a rare Street appearance. (This seems to be from the early 90s, when he actually did go to New York and film a few sketches with Sesame Street, to try to raise moral after Jim and Richard passed.)

I ended up talking to one of my coworkers real casually about Dark Crystal, as you do, when the subject of unfair Netflix cancelations came up. They came back the next day having watched most of Age of Resistance. I feel really good about that.

[up] Yay! It’s always fun when you get a friend into something you’re passionate about! (And even better if it’s Henson related!)

I’m currently working through Fraggle Rock and back to the rock, but I should really watch Dark Crystal at some point.

Edit: oh god, I just remembered, they’re making NFTs now. As someone on Twitter put it,

Unless NFT stands for "Netflix is Funding Three-more-seasons", this isn't good news.
I know Jim was a very gentle, soft spoken guy, who rarely got truly angry, but from everything I know about him, he wouldn’t have wanted this.

(Also, do you want to join my one person crusade to keep this thread alive? Because currently, It feels like this, and it’s a bit lonely.)

Nearly forgot about my muppet of the day post for today!

Since I’ve been way watching them, let’s do a Muppet Moments short.

Bill is just amazing with the kids in all the ones his characters are in, but this one is particularly sweet.

I'm afraid I have little to say most of the time. Unless you want some cursed Dall-E images. I've made plenty of those.

That said, I've always adored the Fraggles. The show was and is an absolute delight.
