In all honesty I don't think that'd be such a bad thing, the commercialization of indie artists. They need the money, we need rock music to gain more even footing in the mainstream again.

There are a few pretty good rock bands I'm aware of who are sort of on the verge of mainstream attention. The Answer are a Northern Irish group that I like. Vintage Trouble are another new band that deserves notice. I'd like to say the same of Rival Sons, because they're fairly good, but they may be a bit too Zeppelin-ish to stand out.
The only unambiguously good straight-ahead rock band that's enjoyed substantial mainstream success in recent years is Foo Fighters.
The success of the like of Snow Patrol, Coldplay and Noel Gallagher's new band suggests that indie rock is fairly mainstream in the UK, which may affect my perspective.

So me and my friends were having this interesting discussion about Foster The People and how they seem to be the commercialization of Indie Pop and Indie Rock. Would you say we are currently facing the end of an era of Rock music? What do you see happening to the Rock scene over the next few years or do you think it's too soon to tell and it's better to look at all this in hindsight?
