Am I the only one who didn't like Happy Feet?

Some of friends were talking about Happy Feet 2, and they seemed excited. Apparently they liked the first one. I, for one, hated it.

I mean, the first was tangential, because it started out about "finding yourself" and "fitting in" and slowly degraded into preachy environmental messages. It was way too long also. Obviously the only reason for a second one being made was for the money, but do they think there's a fanbase for it?

I didn't like Happy Feet much, either. It's been so long that I can't really explain why in detail, but I thought it was overrated and not best animated picture material.

Yeah, I hated it too. Mostly because the entire plot and focus was completely idiotic.

I think the movie was very good I'm mildly interested in a Puffen being in the next movie but that's about it

I found it horribly boring. Ditto for Surfs Up, actually.

Funnily, I've always loved March Of The Penguins.

No

The environmental message wasn't the problem, nor was it the cliches.

No,the opening credits implied I was getting a sci-fi kind of movie, and then they talked about aliens,...whoch turned out just to be humans, rendering it all a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment when it was easily a better premise

that's because the aliens were originally supposed to be aliens they forgot to change the credits when they decided the alien should be humans

I kept wondering why the hero's father was named Memphis, and not the hero himself. Mumble?

And none of the songs had any continuity with each other. Typical Australian camp.

[up][up] I know the story reason behind it, I'm just wondering at the scriptwriting— wait, did you actually think I completely missed that plot point?

The only thing I remember about Happy Feet when it was released years ago is that people couldn't shut up about how much they didn't like Happy Feet.

Everyone I knew loved it when it came out. I was about 8 or something.

But I saw it on TV for the first time when I was about 14, and I thought "...Jesus H, why does everyone love this?" It's meant to be about a tapdancing penguin, but it's so serious and slow. Not to mention painful (the Somebody to Love segment springs to mind).

Though the animation was pretty good, it was just too slow, too painful and TOO SERIOUS.

While I was okay with the first half of the movie, the latter half with the "humans are ruining the environment" aspect ruined the movie.

I'm fine with Green Aesops*

but adding one to this movie just felt plain out of place...which considering how the plot was originally about aliens, might make the feeling justified.

Mumble's father is named Memphis because he's based off of Elvis Presley. Remember the accent and his opening song being "Heartbreak Hotel"?

I liked Happy Feet. It wasn't the best movie in the world, but the dance numbers/songs were generally enjoyable, and (once again, IMO) Robin Williams is always hilarious.

I think he actually saved the movie from mediocrity (at least to me, anyway).

I felt it was mediocre. Didn't really like the singing, or dancing.

I've never heard of anyone liking it.

Also, the only good scene was he "waking up in brigtly lit room with penguin dude going "You're in heaven, Dave." " thing.

there are a few funny lines but there is nothing spectacular about the movie

Mumble's father is named Memphis because he's based off of Elvis Presley.

Again, why is this not our protagonist?

I will say this for Happy Feet: The animation on the birds was entertaining. But you can get that anywhere.

And well, I just don't like talking animal movies in general unless they're VERY high in quality, both in the writing and in the visuals.
