Hey, don't worry about it. "If you build it, they will come", or however that old saying goes.
Also, I suppose at least a little knowledge of the setting would be beneficial. After all, certain character qualities are viewed differently across the world, and where the RP takes place may have a large effect on what kind of maid we eventually decide to stick with.
Well, here's my character sheet. Tentative name is Yuna Nahashi.

Avatar from http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/7486.htmlAlrighty, here's the TV Tropes entry for Sakura Wars/Sakura Taisen: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/SakuraTaisen?from=Main.SakuraTaisen
So your basic idea is that the Great War never happened, and instead there was the Demon War. During which dark creatures tried to destroy the earth as they are wont to do and a team of four (all Japanese) fighters defeated them. However, two were lost in the Demon War. The others went on to be the overall commanders of the later established Teikoku Kagekidan (a play on words - kagekidan can mean either performance troupe or combat troupe). This program focused heavilly on steam powered technology to create weapons capable of fighting the evil creatures who inevitably would return.
The setting is basically steampunk since there appears to be a lot of other steam powered tech in the world. Steam powered mechs, though, are one of the biggest examples of the Alternate Universe the series is set in. They're called Koubu, or sometimes koubu-kai, and they're kind of rounded in shape while still being humanoid. At their heart is also a crystal that reacts to spiritual power - which enables them to fight the baddies, since regular weapons don't work. Hence why the pilots of the mechs need to have the requisite spiritual energy to be part of the Kagekidan.
It's largely girls who seem to have the necessary qualifications to pilot the mechs, for whatever reason. To keep their energy levels up and to learn to work together outside the combat aspect of the unit, they perform in plays regularly. Women play all the parts, and they're often musicals, a reference to the Japanese Takarazuka review performance style: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Takarazuka
.
Being that this game is set after the events of the original Sakura Taisen games, there are a few things to note. Firstly, that the original members of the team have either retired or moved on - which is why new members are being sought out. Despite WW 1 never happening, the tensions that caused it in our timeline still remain and have been flaring up again by the late 1930s. Demonic creature sightings have been on the rise, thus necessitating a new unit to combat them.
So here's a question for the players: should this be set in Teito (Tokyo), as the first two games were? Or should a new unit be being established elsewhere? Which would you prefer?
Avatar from: http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/5953.html N: 5 F, 0/40 SWell, all things considered, I think I could adapt to any location. A new unit established somewhere like North America or Europe would follow cultural norms and values that I'm familiar with, but as "So Long, My Love" is set in New York City, and I think there was one game set in Paris, I'd understand if other players preferred some new country as the setting.
I have no real preference, either. Teito might be easier, but I'm only really familiar with SLML as well...
Avatar from http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/7486.htmlAnd since I'm more familiar with Teito and Paris, maybe a new unit location would be best for our purposes. For some reason I got to thinking that Hong Kong might be interesting.. and, being in the British Empire, it would be more western if that helps.

Avatar from: http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/5953.html N: 5 F, 0/40 SSo if it's down to Hong Kong or a new Teito team, is Teito the choice? Once I have a setting I'll get the RP thread going.
Avatar from: http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/5953.html N: 5 F, 0/40 SWell, if Teito's wanted by the majority, then I'll stand by my earlier statements and go with the flow.
Also, I think that my character will be Isabella Prestissimo, the 14-year-old, rough-speaking, easygoing vampire wannabe with internal weaponry, violent tendencies, and a desire to be the Master's mistress
. Because it's too ridiculous a concept to go to waste.

Well then, perhaps I should go with Bethany Prestissimo
instead. Not to sound wishy-washy, but if stats come into play more often than I could sense danger or manipulate NPCs, then the revenge-seeking (probably for something minimal, like accidentally trashing her bicycle) book-wielder would probably be my best bet for success.
And as for why I don't just roll up a fourth Prestissimo that combines good stats with my love of plot manipulation, I just don't trust the Random Number Gods too much.

We have a consensus for a new Teito team then! I've got class tomorrow, but I'll try to get the RP thread up soon so we can get this thing rolling.
Avatar from: http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/5953.html N: 5 F, 0/40 S
Since we've decided on Teito, it's actually Tokyo. However with how international the kagekidans always are, it wouldn't be surprising if there were some around.
Sorry for the delay in getting the RP thread up! I've got a tour this weekend, so it'll be a couple more days as I also tweak plot points in my head.
Avatar from: http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/5953.html N: 5 F, 0/40 SShould have it up in the next couple of days for sure!
Avatar from: http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/5953.html N: 5 F, 0/40 SAlmost got everything ready, just one thing I'd like to ask the assembled cast: should the 'Master' - in this case, Commander of the Kagekidan - be male or female? In the series it's always a guy, but this' fudging with the setting a bit anyway. What do you all think?
Avatar from: http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/5953.html N: 5 F, 0/40 SHmm...I'm fine either way. Could be fun to have an all-girl troupe, though...
Avatar from http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/7486.htmlOkay, then wacky all-girl antics it is! I'll put finalize the sheet for the Commander and put her up tomorrow, then get the RP thread started!

This is, as the title suggests, the discussion thread for the Sakura Wars-themed Maid RPG. I apologize in advance if the two things don't mesh as well as I thought they might, guys, but thanks for being here! If you like I can put up some basic info on the setting, or whatever.
