The name doesn't even come across as Genki Girl.
It comes across as a pure Party Girl and everything about her screams fun not energetic.
I am good on rename but unsure of what to change it too.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I'd recommend giving it the standard Trope Transplant for these "overly general name" tropes, but I'm not certain whether a character who is Fun Personified isn't already something we have covered.
I don't have any ideas on what to call the actual trope here, either.
Goofball In A Serious Story is about all I can think of.
And hmmm Fun Personified the name as a trope is close to Life of the Party but party really isnt 100% required.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!The description seems to call for a Shared Universe("officially in Canon" doesn't make too much sense otherwise), so I think Goofball Show In A Serious Universe might be a better descriptor(it seems to be a comic-exclusive trope in practice, so we might want to tighten the name).
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanThe trope is basically work in a shared universe whose characters are much lighter and sillier than the rest of the universe. As a result, while the bleaker characters may cross into their titles, it's rare that they will be acknowledged by the larger more serious universe.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickHm. How specific are we talking here? One of the most commonly referenced examples of the trope that I know of* is that of Taiga from Fate Stay Night who is basically just around to be funny and silly during light hearted moments before the story disappears into death and angst and destruction without any more real presence in the plot once that part happens.

I don't think that's an example. The basis of the trope was Western Comics where this sort of title is common. You example fails the whole expanded universe bit of the trope. He's just a character that was dropped when the work did a tone shift. Not another series taking place in the same universe that other works in the same universe don't like bringing up because it's too silly.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickHm, okay. In that case, would a supertrope to this be warranted for characters who are just around to be silly and funny in a serious series, or am I forgetting the existence of a really obvious trope?

Yes, I think the name is terrible and a supertrope for characters who are just silly and fun would be great. This trope has a far too specific description for it's title. We just need a new title to move it to. Cloud Cuckoolander is probably the closest trope we have.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickWe do have Plucky Comic Relief.
I think that fits.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Bump.
So the consensus seems to be rename and make a supertrope. Here's a rename crowner, just in case. While that's running, does anyone have any ideas for the new names?
The problem with "Plucky Comic Relief" is that a Fun Personified character may not necessarily be comic relief.
Bumping to ask if the potholing of Pinkie Pie to this trope should be removed from the caption to My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic's page image.

"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartYes. She's not an example.
Crowner is stable in favor of a rename. I am not entirely convinced that Plucky Comic Relief is the trope I was thinking of, however.
It might not be. This trope is a trope. Coming up with a name is going to be hard.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickWell, I think the Plucky Comic Relief generally gets dragged along by the events of the plot. What I'm thinking of is more the clowns in Shoo Out the Clowns.
Just For Fun Character? That might get the same kind of misuse, though.
Time to call the crowner?
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.I think Fun Personified would actually be a decent redirect for Life of the Party, once this is renamed.

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickPersonally I liked Comedy Series In The Drama Verse.
I think we need to add something in the description that says more about the character being an add on to a darker and more serious verse. It's pretty vague on that.

Crown Description:
People are using this as basically Genki Girl, when its much more specific. It seems to have originated in comic books, and is about a light-hearted character, out of place in a much darker universe. Someone who knows the source material a bit better can give a more succinct definition, but the point is that most examples are just Genki Girl, with a few "the guy who always starts the party" as well.
So, what's to be done?
