Well, the other I'm considering now after remembering some of my favorite things I haven't recently indulged in is the Roughnecks. (Either the movie version, or the TV series version. Definately not the book version.)

I'll try writing up a sheet for one of these later tonight or tomorrow after I've decided. Or maybe both, then decide. tongue

Well, I can't resist an RP this unique. It's typical, really, I spend the last couple of years hoarding d6s, and I only have d10s here at uni. I'll make do, I guess.

  • Name: The Irken Armada
  • Universe: Invader Zim
  • Strengths: The Armada has a huge supply of highly advanced technology, but the technique that sets the Irken Empire apart is the use of Invaders: Irkens sent to go undercover in the enemy race, document their weaknesses, and prepare the world for the Irken attack.
  • Weakness: Irkens are allergic to many human foods and water, but they also have an overdependence on technology. The Control Brains make most of the important decisions, such as law and order. Not to mention each Irken is fitted with PA Ks that store their organs, mind, equipment and high scores, and if this were removed an Irken would perish after exactly ten minutes.
  • Army Bio: The Irkens are a powerful species, ones that seek to conquer all the universe for their own hedonistic ends. Each Irken is grown in a test tube, and so gender is irrelevant, and yet Irkens can still be men or women. The machines churn them out like so many tchotchkes, loading them with all Irken knowledge from birth. But not all are equal; the Irkens have a rigid hierarchy based entirely on height. The shortest Irkens get the blue and grey collar jobs, whereas those of lengthy spine become the figureheads known as the Almighty Tallest. There have been many beloved Tallest in the past, that have steered the destiny of the empire.
But the one Irken that has left the biggest mark on history, for all the wrong reasons, is the shortest of them all: Zim. Zim is classed as a Defective; an Irken with such corrupted data in their PAK as to be classed insane. In the hundreds of years he's lived, this overzealous and demented imp has caused two global blackouts lasting 5 and 4 years respectively, created an energy absorbing blob that ate two different Tallest alive, caused a half-global blackout, single handedly foiled Operation Impending Doom, and blew up a planet by scratching his butt. When the latest Tallest commenced Operation Impending Doom II to conquer the universe, and Zim came back to enlist as an Invader, they sent him on a wild goose chase to an unknown section of the galaxy. Zim happened to stumble upon Earth, and continued to pester the Tallest, while being mercifully far from them.
  • Leaders: The Almighty Tallest, Red and Purple
  • Hero 1: Team Zim (A group that slowly accumulated with the goal of conquering Earth):
    • Zim: A megalomaniacal defective who is often a danger to himself and others. He can be intelligent in his own manner, but rarely uses his capabilities in the right way, and seems incapable of thinking things through. However, his time on Earth has provided him with a little insight, including how to bypass the H 2 O allergy Irkens possess. Like all Irkens, Zim's PAK provides him with a large arsenal equipment, including spider legs, organ harvester, atmospheric processor and night vision binoculars.
    • GIR: When the Invaders were given their SIR Units to help them on their mission, GIR was hastily put together and fobbed off on Zim. GIR has two personalities; When his eyes are this colour he is the very definition of a Cloud Cuckoo Lander and not very helpful, but when in Duty Mode GIR reverts to usual SIR programming, and is fiercely loyal to the mission. GIR is equipped with state of the art guidance functions, has a thermos storage space, and an arsenal of weaponry which is hardly ever used.
    • Minimoose: One of the later additions to the team, Minimoose was designed by Zim as a new henchman when he felt his current machines were incompetent. Minimoose was designed as the ultimate doomsday weapon, but Zim, strangely enough, doesn't know how to use him. As such, Minimoose doesn't really do anything apart from floating around and looking cute.
    • Invader Skoodge: One of Zim's oldest friends, though you wouldn't guess it. Skoodge was only a few centimetres taller than Zim, as well as being short and ugly, so even though he managed to become an Invader, the Tallest didn't think much of him and assigned him the planet of slaughtering rat people. Miraculously, not only did Skoodge survive, he was the first Invader to conquer an enemy planet. But rather than have him as a poster boy, the Tallest used him as a projectile in the 'Organic Sweep'. When he survived yet again, Skoodge was sent to the harsh training facility of Hobo 13, after which he took up residence in Zim's basement. Skoodge is gullible and trusting, but this belies a startling competence and ability to survive. Skoodge also has his own SIR unit robot, who does not see much use nowadays.
  • Hero 2: Tak: A ruthless and driven Irken, who holds a heavy grudge against Zim for ruining her chances of being an Invader. Tak is cunning and intelligent. Where other Invaders would be satisfied with a Paper-Thin Disguise, Tak employs a convincing holographic generator. This is only part of her individualistic streak, as she has a habit of customising every bit of technology she has. Despite this propensity for doing things her own way, she's as faithful to the Empire as the next Irken. She is bent on showing her worth to the tallest, and her goals coincide with their...interests. This is tempered, however, by her urge to get even with Zim. She also seems to have ocular implants to hypnotise the weak minded with a flash.
    • Mimi: Tak's SIR unit is customised as well. Not much is known about its thought process, as it seems incapable of speech, but it bears an enlarged right arm, enhanced strength and speed, and the ability to send out a shockwave. Mi Mi also has its own holographic disguise generator, and when this is deployed, she seems much faster than usual.
  • Hero 3: Sizz Lorr: this powerhouse of an Irken is Frylord of the restaurant Shloogorgh's Flavor Monster on Foodcourtia, the food court planet. Curiously, Sizz-Lorr is nearly as tall as the Tallest, only far more muscular. But considering that Irkens have a great love of junk food, being a frylord is likely the second-most important position in the Empire. He, too, holds a grudge on Zim, for abandoning his then-job as subordinate for Sizz-Lorr, just before an event called the Foodening trapped him on the planet for 20 years. Sizz-Lorr can be equipped with a menacing gas mask, and the sign at his restaurant (which will come with him for conveniency's sake) can equip him with battle armour and a giant spatula weapon.

How's that? Also, the vehicles and such will be limited so they can't go off-world.

Sounds good to me, but you sure you just want 2 Heroes, when we're giving you the option of three free powerful units?

Also, we do the rolling and put it all into a report after everyone's actions. Kind of like a Turn-Based Strategy game.

Ah, I see. Clever.

On the subject of 'Heroes' (And really, what powerful army has the heroes on their side?) I just couldn't think of any third selection to make. Hell, my backup choice would've had two or maybe even...actually now that I think about it, depending on the time period my backup could've had two or three.

Ah, I dunno. I'm juggling a few options in my head for the Armada hero three, but one of them involves an OC sooo...

  • Name: The Diana Counter
  • Universe: Turn-A Gundam
  • Strengths:
    • Poses the technology to make mecha of varying sizes and duties. Most of which can be used for combat.
    • Stationed in flying battleships, so they can set their base pretty much anywhere.
  • Weakness:
    • Limited number of units.
    • Mechs take a while to build/repair.
  • Army Bio: Originally sent to the Earth from the Moon as a forward party to help reposition the people of the Moonrace on the Earth, they were met with resistance from the Earthrace. Things to complicated quickly as the Queen switched places with an earth woman and they were forced to pretend to be each other for far longer then intended. The Queen went with the Earth Militia to the moon to discover what was going on with the management while she was gone. Once Agrippa Maintainer was killed, most of the Militia joined forces with Gym Ghingnham and returned to the earth to attempt an "unify " Ameria. The Queen gathered what forces she could from the moon and the remaining Earthrace and returned to the Earth, where the new force joined up with the Diana Counter that was left on Earth.
  • Leader: Queen Diana Soriel/Kihel Heim
  • Hero 1: Loran Cehack, piloting the ∀ Gundam. The Turn-A poses great maneuverability for a machine of its size and strength to match. It is able to repair its self slowly over time using nanomachines. It has boosters to help it jump or fly for a short period of time. It comes equipped with a shield, a beam rifle, two laser swords, and two ball-and-chains. Finally it has the Moonlight Butterfly, an attack that releases nanomachines into the area around it that will break apart any machinery or man-made structure. This attack does not differentiate between ally or enemy.
  • Hero 2: Harry Ord piloting the Gold SUMO. The Gold SUMO is like a normal one, but upgraded in speed and power. It has an axe that can cut through other mechs its size. The SUMO has a barrier known as an I-Field, meant to protect against energy weaponry. It has a hand gun that fires beams and can be equipped with something known as a Skirt, which is a series of jets that allow it to fly. It also has a generator that it can attach to its wrist to turn the I-Field into an attack.
  • Hero 3: Corin Nander in his custom red Kapool. It is the same as a normal Kapool aside from a few upgrades. It has the normal missile launchers, durability, and aquatic nature of the Kapools. What unique things it does have though is a bat like weapon that can spin like a drill and a rocket-fist upgrade.

Also, my army contains spoilers, but I figure that anyone who hasn't seen the movie by now isn't really going to care. tongue

  • Name: The Decepticon Army

  • Universe: Transformers movie universe, midway through DOTM.

  • Strengths: The Decepticons have several powerful advantages on their side. First and foremost, they are masers of stealth and disguise; by scanning a compatible form they can take on its appearance, blending into other armies. Because of this, a single Decepticon spy can prove to be a crippling weakness; entrenched in a motor pool it can scramble signals, relay information to comrades, and perform several acts of sabotage. That said, even when disguised they give off potent amounts of radiation, not lethal to organics but detectable with the right equipment. The sheer size of any Cybertronian can be a strength in its own right. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the Decepticon forces also possess a space bridge, which can be used to teleport small contingents of troops through space and time, and, when properly configured, even move planets into orbit.

  • Weaknesses: Despite their sheer size, all Cybertronians possess a marked weakness for high-heat weaponry, and falter rapidly when under concentrated heat conditions. They possess several weak spots on their bodies that can easily be taken advantage of, primarily their sensitive eyes and joints, which are lightly armored and easy to take out. Secondly, owing to their power, they will be greatly outnumbered, with only a handful of troops when compared to other armies.

  • Army Bio: Under the leadership of Megatron and Sentinel Prime, the Decepticons seek to revitalize Cybertron, by teleporting it into orbit and rebuilding it with slave labor. However, with their forces disoriented and damaged by the transit, they will require a lot of preparation in order to accomplish this goal, and, depending on the plot, may never do so.
  • Leader: Sentinel Prime. If needed, though, he may fight, but will only do so as a last resort as he dislikes working with the Decepticons.

Well, I was thinking on PHALANX more and I realised that there's a problem with them. They don't really have much strictly canon stuff. You can put your bases anywhere on the planet, the player character is only reffered to as "commander", and all the units' names, gender, and ethnicity are randomly generated.

So, unless I change my mind or think of something else, here goes...

  • Name: Strategically Integrated Coalition of Nations (SICON). Or more accurately, the Mobile Infantry, SICON's army.

  • Universe: Roughnecks Starship Troopers Chronicles, part way through the Tesca campaign.

  • Strengths: Well coordinated, (usually) and somewhat highly advanced. Every soldier is equipped with light power armor that lets them survive in almost any evironmental condition, even outer space, for several hours at a time before needing an oxygen tank change. In Earth-like conditions or close enough, parts of the armor can be removed to make it even lighter and more manueverable, while sacrificing the ability to go underwater or such. These armors also come with an array of miscellanious gadgets including a belt mounted zipline for climbing or repelling, a visor that includes zoom, nightvision, and infra-red modes, and some suit jets at various positions to improve manueverability underwater or in low gravity, and help reduce impact while doing an orbital drop.*

Depending on how much we start with, their strengths would also include their various support units. VTOL jets equipped with missles, cannons, and optional bombs for air support. Large VTOL dropships with a few guns mounted from the cockpit. The larger power armors, known as marauders. The "ape" marauder that is somewhat humanoid, comes with dual flamethrowers and machineguns,*

and a shoulder mounted gatling gun. And the "duck" marauder* that comes with one gatling gun on the left side, a rocket pack on the right side, and a back mounted missle rack.

  • Weaknesses: The upper command structure can be pretty arrogant at times, though I won't be bringing in most of that. Most of the equipment except ammo and the infantry weapons are not easily replacable, even in their own universe; this would be even worse here.

  • Army bio: SICON sent the Mobile Infantry to Pluto to battle an infestation of hostile bug-like lifeforms working in unison they started calling the "Arachnids", which were threatening science facilities. As the conflict drew on, the Mobile Infantry discovered that the Arachnids were not native to Pluto, but instead arrived there on massive space-faring bugs from outside the solar system entirely. An interstellar war quickly began.

  • Leader: Commander Marlow, the commanding officer of the Valley Forge, one of SICON's primary starships.*

  • Hero 1: Alpha Team a.k.a. Razak's Roughnecks.
    • Lieutenant Jean Razak, the leader of the Roughnecks and a seasoned veteran with ten decorations. His left arm is a robotic prosthetic, having been removed during SICON's original fight with the Arachnids.
    • Private Juan "Johnny" Rico, a reckless yet admittedly skilled soldier with a slight tendancy for "heroics". Is somewhat distrustful of any technology more advanced than a gun, minus what he uses regularly.
    • Private Isabel "Dizzy" Flores, a friend of Johnny from high-school who is possibly even more reckless, but can shoot her way through just about anything so long as she's got the ammo.
    • Special Operations Tactician Carl Jenkins, a psychic and also a friend of Johhny. His psychic powers can really change the tide of just about any battle, but the more powerful ones come at a cost to his own mental stability.
    • Other various characters that I won't recite in exact detail, but happen to include one medic, one combat reporter, and one of the "Skinny" aliens that allied with SICON against the Arachnids.

  • Hero 2: Lieutenant Carmen Ibanez, an ace pilot who's skilled with pretty much all of the Mobile Infantry's various vehicles, but also capable of fighting in ground combat; just less so. She's also a friend of Johnny, but doesn't contact with him much.

  • Hero 3: Lieutenant/Major Zander Barcalow, another ace pilot with roughly the same skill-set as Carmen, who is usually flying as his second/wingman. He knows of Johnny, but they don't like each other. Also, at the point where I'm taking them from, he's currently dating Dizzy.

@Plumbum: It actually makes a great deal of difference that they're from the movie universe, as movie Transformers have some abilities/weapons that Decepticons in other continuities do not.

For example, this, and this, which will form the majority of my air support, seeing as how no Cybertronians that haven't scanned an airborne vehicle can fly.
