I'm putting any additional details here, such as any major arcs in case newer people sign-up while the RP is happening.
If at least five people (including myself) post Sign-Ups, I'll be starting the actual RP thread. We're all starting at the White House (or Washington, D.C. if you'd like) where the "party" will be assembled. Cue Ragtag Bunch of Misfits
The Main Cast! Expressed Interest/Joined:
- Aniventerie - Cpt. Antonia Brandt (accepted)
- Doctor HD - Doctor Necrose (accepted)
- Ragna the Saviour - Aldren Heimen (accepted)
- Myself - Rev. Fr. Eamon Kennedy (accepted)
- gothicbob
- Savage Heathen - Amelie Duvalier (accepted)
- Grey Star - Noh Wei (accepted)
- Parable
- Bokhura Burnes - Richard Gale (accepted)
Note: I'll try to keep the party itself at a minimum, maybe a Five-Man Band (scratch that, we're now an eight-person league) , and then if anyone else is interested, they can certainly apply for Quest-Essential characters (or even historical characters!)

"His eyes were the color of FEAR..." "Wait, what is that, YELLOW?"... Curses.
I'm flooded with R Ps but this is pretty awesome.
I'm tempted either to make a minuteman or a witch.
Kinda sorta. Not a Confederate, but a Confederate sympathizer.
I was thinking a Moriartyesque "Victorian super villain."
The only thing is, he'd most likely be a Minuteman, but with a tiny bit of crossover into Inventor and Mage. Nothing major, mind you, just means he'd have a certain tech savvyness, and I'd feel compelled to see if it'd be possible to give him a "Hypnotic Gaze." It's sort of a staple of Victorian villains.

@daltar That's fine, you can join later, or if you're really tempted, just join anyway. xD
@Doctor HD Sounds good, dual-classing or having a little proficiency in another class is perfectly fine as long as there's balance between both professions. I myself am probably making an Wordsmith-Minuteman type character.

"His eyes were the color of FEAR..." "Wait, what is that, YELLOW?"Name: Aldren Heimen
Age: 59
Gender: Male
Appearance: Brown, curly hair that takes up most of his head. Some of the brown hairs are dabbed with gray. Brown eyes, a beard and a mustache that cover the face. The facial hair shares the same traits with the Aldren's hair, growing gray in some areas. His face has a leathery quality to it, along with a tan. His muscles are large but not abnormally so.
Profession: Minuteman/Retired Soldier
Hometown: Pittsburgh
Abilities: Aldren sports a single broadsword and a short sword, used for blocking. Aldren's swordsmanship is unparalleled back home.
In Aldren's experience in the military, he picked up some tricks like low-level healing spells and some medicine for wounds and sickness. He's not an expert at either, so if there's someone else more capable, go to them.
Personality: An all around kind fellow who puts the well-being of others above his own. When his friends get threatened, he won't hesitate to annihilate the cause.

Well my idea is for a big black ex-slave, escaped in the war and joined the northern armies, where he made a name for his self as a fighter. His old owner was a Mage, and he stole many of his books when he fled giving him some skill with magic, which he usually uses to help hisself in combat. Going for a class two big guy. I kinda new to on line role play so any help would be gratefully received. will put in a more full application later

Name: "Doctor Nécrose" (Real name unknown)
Age: Undetermined, likely to be mid-30s to early 40s
Gender: Male
Appearance: There are very few men who can honestly say they've seen the face of Doctor Nécrose, and the ones that say they have are very likely lying.
Tall at six foot, five inches, Nécrose is a lean sort. Not quite spindly, his form conveys a more passive, more predatory malevolence. He is not a stick figure, instead giving the impression of a snake or vicious jungle cat.
Little has been deciphered in terms of Nécrose's actual physical traits. His face is always hidden, cast in shadow, with only the bare minimum of facial details to be perceived. Appearing to have a long, lean face with high cheek bones, little beyond that can be stated for certain. However, one trait that he does possess that few can avoid noting is a pair of steely blue eyes that seem to shine out from the masking shadow that hides his features. They have been said to almost "glow."
Nécrose is never seen wearing anything but the finest clothing. Long flowing coats and opera cloaks are his forte, with suits to match, and he is always certain to wear a pair of black leather gloves. In fact, black is very much Nécrose's color. It is exceedingly rare that he wear anything but black.
To accomplish the feat of framing his face in near constant shadow, Nécrose is fond of hats. Top hats are his first choice, but when the occasion demands it, he is willing to don a Stetson or other suitable replacement.
Profession: Criminal Mastermind (Minuteman)
Hometown: Unknown, appears to be of British birth.
Abilities: First and foremost, Nécrose possesses a brain of the highest order. He is a prodigy in the fields of organizing and strategy, and it is very rare to find a problem that is deemed unsolvable to his ruthless, calculating mind.
In many respects, he is a mere man. But there are exceptions to that.
His gaze - possessing a notably "unsettling" quality - has been known to ensnare and entrap individuals to his will. This talent at Hypnotism allows Nécrose to rip secrets from men's minds or, after prolonged contact, turn them into brainwashed agents.
Beyond the unnatural quality of his gaze, Nécrose has a strong grasp of technology. He is not an inventor, but he can discern and understand the inner workings of machinery far more quickly than most.
Nécrose is almost never without his silver-topped cane, which, quite naturally, conceals a sword. Extremely adept in its use, the man is alarmingly agile and nimble besides, proving a highly capable combatant in close quarters.
Personality: In the criminal underbelly of European nations, few names are whispered with as much fear and terror as Doctor Nécrose's.
He has been called "demon." "Monster." And, on more than one occasion, "Satan."
But the Doctor is a mortal man. Despite all evidence to the contrary.
Though there is a good deal about him that could be considered "inhuman", he has many perfectly mortal ambitions and motives. For one thing, he is a Crime Lord, casting his web of intrigue and shadows across London, though he is not confined to one mere city. His reach is wide, and he is unafraid to venture beyond the waters surrounding the British Isles. Should it serve his purposes.
Despite his reputation, Nécrose is almost cordial to most individuals he finds himself in conversation with. Highly intelligent, articulate, well learned and very definitely cultured, it would almost be odd, at times, to believe that someone so urbane and - oddly enough - charming has ever been called "The Devil Himself."
However, he secretly delights in this.
At heart, he is very definitely a businessman. A broker of power, money, and influence. To him, little matters beyond gain, both of status and of material worth. He is ruthless in his pursuit of both, and it is quite possible that his agenda is far grander than mere success as a Criminal.
Vanity and pride are two cornerstones of Nécrose's being, and he takes delight in knowing the terror he has engendered about himself. He silently cultivates this reputation, being rather fond of the respect and loyalty it affords him. Though he is unafraid to prove his reputation deserved, should he need to. Cruelty and sadism are almost beyond a being as coldly pragmatic as Nécrose, but when motivated, he is capable of acts that can verge on "unspeakable."
Sounds like ('cause why not?): Christopher Lee

Name: Captain Antonia Brandt.
Age: 28.
Appearance: Average height, a bit thin. She has long cherry-brown hair tied back into a messy ponytail and deep brown eyes. She typically wears a long red coat, ruffled white shirt, tight-fitting cloth trousers, and leather boots. Her right arm has been replaced by a shining brass machine, and it has a tendency to make tiny ratchets and whirs when she moves it. Almost always has her cutlass and pistol on her belt.
Profession: Inventor mainly, but certainly no stranger to combat.
Hometown: Philedelphia.
Abilities: A brilliant inventor of mechanical devices, and skilled in navigation, skymanship, aerial battle, etc; anything a woman would need to be a successful sky pirate. Her pistol can be more accurately described as a "blunderbuss revolver", and is outfitted with a powerful scope.
Personality: Antonia is, shall we say, a bit theatric. She is quite dashing and full of panache, and will occasionally do things for the sole sake of creating a more dramatic scene. Besides this, she is normally more interested in acquiring ill-gotten gains than engaging in any heroism, but as long as you don't stand between her and potential lucre you'll be fine.

Need a tall, brawny fella to come by and inspect your pickle? Perhaps I may be this fella. Here I have two characters... just because I yet don't know which one I shall be using.
- Name: Cliff Morris Jr. -The Kid-
- Age: 23
- Appearance: Cliff has a mix match of the appearance of both his mother and father. He has his father's facial features, eyes and build while having his mother's hair, skin tone and height. His eyes are amber colored, his hair is raven black and straight, his skin is brown colored and just a little rugged from his exposure to the outdoors. He is a short young man, though he is solidly built and agile.
- Profession: Minuteman
- Hometown: A mining town whose name he cannot recall.
- Abilities: Cliff has strong arms and knows how to use a hammer, a skill he learned pretty early on his life. A slave in a mine of what would in a few years be Confederate territory, he was handed a hammer at a young age and made to dig everyday. Quiet and resilient as he was, he received less whips magical or otherwise to his tender back. However by the time when he was stopping being a kid he got freed in a raid in the middle of the night by an idealistic man and his companions. The man took an interest in the kid. Carrying only his hammer and the clothes on his back he passed over to the other side... and far to the north he accompanied the old man who freed him. Helping the man hunt taught the kid how to survive on the wilderness and how to use a rifle... a skill that he would later master once he signed up to fight in the war.
- Personality: Cliff is mostly soft-spoken, polite and obedient to a fault. While he is willing to fight to death for the freedom he know enjoys, his initial upbringing and disposition make it easy for him to follow orders. Smiles come a little hard to the young man, though he is not without some humor. He is also smarter than he might seem at first glance... with a good natured curiosity that he is now free to indulge in his free time. Thus he is quite a quick leaner and eager to find out more stuff about the different walks of life.
- Name: Morgan
- Age: 34
- Appearance: The mysterious witch Morgan keeps her appearance as hidden as possible. She wears a thick cloak with a low hood to obscure her features at all times. This cloak is adorned with furs, feathers, fangs and claws of different animals. Beneath this Morgan will be found wearing high boots, long gloves, a long skirt and a blouse. Her hair is long and fiery red in color, her eyes are green and her skin light in tone. Morgan's height and build seem greater than they truly are due to her boots and cloak.
- Profession: Mage/Witch
- Homeplace: Germany
- Abilities: Morgan knows a fair bit about the occult arts and how to wield magic. She has a fair bit of connection to the spirit world... and many friends in such a place. While the magic of her homeland is a little different, she has spent many years learning the way of magic of this new world. She is skilled in both the good and the bad arts.
- Personality: Mysterious and just a tad theatrical. Morris doesn't speak too much of her past to strangers and when she does it tends to be outrageous stories filled with fancy tales of magical exploits and wondrous lands. With her allies however she tends to be just a bit more sincere and warm.

- Name: Rev. Fr. Eamon Kennedy
- Age: 35
- Appearance: A boisterous, outspoken man of the cloth, Fr. Kennedy is of Irish stock, complete with red hair, a red beard, a few freckles and light skin. He's of regular build, though he looks stockier because of the way he carries himself. Also carries around a shillelagh.
- Profession: Wordsmith/Minuteman hybrid, though his fighting skills are minimal compared to true Minutemen; he's a former soldier but took up the role of the army chaplain.
- Hometown: Brooklyn, New York
- Abilities: He's an eloquent speaker and possesses and extensive knowledge of his own faith and of the occult, though his general intelligence and investigative ability is something to behold. He knows his way around a fistfight, but will always opt to talk things out. He is also a musician, able to play the piano, the guitar, the violin, and the organ; his singing abilities aren't bad, either.
- Personality: Though his profession would suggest otherwise, Fr. Kennedy is a little more open-minded towards others, though he has the general distrust most people at the time have for colored folk. His outspoken personality is usually enjoyed, or at least tolerated by others; and certainly, one has to be present if the man has consumed a little too much of the "blood of Christ".

"His eyes were the color of FEAR..." "Wait, what is that, YELLOW?"
@ Grey Star: Yes, considering the severity of the situation, they would, but it's going to be a given that a Chinaman would be quite out of place in Steampunk America circa 1870.
BUT, that would certainly add a good dynamic to the team, so I'm all for it!
@gothicbob: That's perfectly fine. Would add another good dynamic to the team as it is.
@Savage: YES. That would be awesome.
@Aldren Heimen, Doctor HD, Aniventerie - Accepted. don't be shy to make them
@EVERYONE: Alright, so I think a group of 5-6 would be good, and here's a list of people who've either expressed interest and/or signed up.
- Aniventerie
- Doctor HD
- Ragna the Saviour
- Myself
- gothicbob
- Savage Heathen
- Greystar
- Parable
We're now a full-fledged league, it seems, rivaling even the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. And with that, I am officially closing applications for the main league until the event that someone leaves the RP.
However, any apps for antagonist roles are open, if they so wish to apply for it. The only problem I have is how they'll be RP-ing alongside us. Any suggestions?

"The war had ended prematurely—the magicks of the South proved to be useless against our innovations and technologies, and it seems that the United States have become whole again, the slaves have been freed from their magi slavemasters, and the Confederate Army has given up.
It’s been almost five years since that war. Magick is dying, says Johnson, and he and I realize that a chapter in human history is about to close. The infallible steam engine and its wondrous creations—the steam ferry, the flying plane, the golem, the train, just to name a few—is about to become an integral part of American...no, HUMAN society.
But I fear that we have done more harm than good by silencing magick with technology. News has been brought to me about the murders of the Union’s former enemies: Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and others that were once prominent figures of the South. I fear that the price of saving these United States is this—a monster far more fearsome than any familiar magick can conjure, and more advanced than any contraption an inventor can create."
- President Abraham Lincoln, in his private diary, 1870.
Alright folks, so I’m new here, the name’s James, haven’t created a roleplaying thread in quite a while so I’d love to take a crack at the Steampunk genre—especially after finishing a playthrough of Arcanum, watching a bit of League of STEAM, then watching League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (because of Sean Connery, don’t get me wrong) and learning as much as I can about Steampunk.
The Premise:
The main premise of the RP is a small group of men and women traveling from the Northern States to the Southern States to discover the root cause of the untimely deaths of the generals of the Confederate Army, including Robert E. Lee, as well as Jefferson Davis, the former President of the Confederacy.
Setting:
The United States in the year 1870, right after the American Civil War. The starting point is the White House in Washington, D.C.
The World of Juggernaut:
Before the steam engine became the main source of power for the world, humanity relied on magic to a degree. Once technology had become widespread however, the use of “magick” began to die down, as it was discovered that that magick and technology contradict and cancel each other out. Countries across the globe were then divided, into those that embraced technology, and those that remained faithful to the use of magic.
So where does the Civil War come into play? Well, the American Civil War begins because of the clash between the technological North, and the magical South. Slavery becomes a secondary question and instead the war is focused mainly on whether or not America embraces technology or magic. Also, many historical figures of the 19th century, and modern inventions such as the robot and the moving picture will be incorporated into the story regardless of whether they were alive during the post-Civil War era. So, expect a lot of Willing Suspension of Disbelief and the MST3K Mantra.
The war ends a year early, because of the technology of the North, the slaves are freed, Lincoln is not assassinated because all the generals of the South surrender unconditionally (and the growing danger of using magic weakens the Confederate Army), Lincoln is able to serve a second term, and the Confederate States are absorbed back into the Union. THIS is where the roleplay begins. A few months after the South surrenders, the key members of the former Confederate government are killed off one by one, and Abraham Lincoln becomes worried; suspicions arise and many Southerners are beginning to think that the Union is at fault. Because of this, Lincoln appoints a small group of agents (that’s us, the roleplayers) to find out who…or what, is responsible for the murders.
So You’re Interested?:
That’s good to hear (or see)! The good thing about this RP is that it’s a fairly new idea that popped into my head, and as the roleplay goes along, we’ll be building the world as well. So far I only have ideas as to the major events of the RP, which will happen once the group advances far enough (location-wise). The lore’s pretty simple enough—the North likes tech, the South likes magic, and magic and tech don’t mesh well. And with that said, the rules are really quite simple.
1. No Godmodding. Though our characters are specialists in our given fields, we still have some basic weaknesses.
2. No killing of the other characters unless you have permission, or if the story heavily implies it’s going to happen.
3. Try not to double post, but I’m not going to be too strict about that.
4. Have fun :D
Also, here are the professions you can choose from, which resemble classic RPG “classes”.
The Signup Sheet:
Last Words:
If you have any questions, feel free to post below. Remember, I haven’t done this in a while, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there were any errors or inconsistencies with the story so far. I’m probably making my own character so the I can directly help the story move along, BUT I won’t put too much focus on him (so that everyone gets equal spotlight time) If all goes very well, we might have a “Season 2” in England with the premise that the sun never really set on the British Empire. But until then, let’s get this thing going!
