Yeah. You can see that in the third panel, he reaches for his second sword- the trick wakizashi. And he stabs with that arm. Uno's getting a feint and Ina's getting a small thrust to the stomach.
Likes many underrated webcomicsYep. You can see the "Uso" in this comic is clearly surprised to be attacked by Yori. There's no blood, which Alex (the artist) never skimps on. Back in comic 126 the trick sword makes the same sound when used as now. All signs point to Yori fake stabbing Ina here. Hopefully, it's intentional.
For anyone considering an archive binge: The artwork in the beginning improves a lot. It should be a quick read, too. Only 451 pages.
@NLK: are you the commenter I was talking to on the comic page?

Nope. I have commented on it, but under a different alias, and not in a while.
Likes many underrated webcomicsOver the course of the comic, I'd forgotten exactly which swords Yori had acquired, broken or discarded. Looking back: In comic 7, he breaks his only sword. In 28, he tries to use the broken sword. In 48 he gets his sword fixed and later shoplifts the trick sword (There's a little plot hole here. The shopkeeper says the edge is too dull to cut anything, but later Matrix explains how the edge is sharp). In 62, he breaks his sword again. #120, he fights with the broken sword and the fake one.

Annndd either he's really good at bluffing or it's just dumb luck. On other news, did you know NNFB has a page on the Bad Webcomics Wiki for some reason?
Likes many underrated webcomicsDoes it still qualify for the Art Shift trope if it's just a single page? Because I think they did something similar when Yori killed Ryoku (that other blind fighting guy
)and then went right back to normal as a way of emphasizing the kill.
It wasn't that different. And yes, you're confusing it with Art Evolution. Art Shift can be momentary.
Likes many underrated webcomicsWho would have though Nataku was a badass? And I'm really disappointed, I would have loved to see Ken get his revenge. (And be effective against somebody other than mooks and Yori when Yori had a broken sword... I guess poor Ken may be heading for an entry in The Worf Effect soon at this rate...)
| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |I read somewhere that this incident will lead to Ken getting a less ridiculous sword.
Likes many underrated webcomicsI think Joe has mentioned a named sword for someone. Somewhere in the formspring questions.
It hasn't been directly stated yet, but the Zanbatou was a popular weapon in the Daisuke clan. Ken's father was the leader of an important part Daisuke army - the Red Dragon Zanbatou squad. The clan's emblem, a red dragon, is embossed on Ken's sword.
I have a few ideas for a flashback to show exactly how he gets it, but nothing's set in stone. The important thing is that the sword connects him to his clan and his father.
Anyone involved with the Wataro-Daisuke war would instantly guess Ken's origin based on his sword and that emblem (yes, that was a hint of things to come).
How skilled would Ken be with a normal sword?
You'll have to wait and see.

You'll have to wait and see.
Hmm, now that's interesting indeed. With the Zanbatou Ken is a terror and a half for mooks, but he has been nothing but The Worf Effect for most characters with a name.
Also, good to see the reinforcements coming, although I do wonder how they'll drive off Nataku and get Ken to safety, unless a barrage of arrows forces Nataku to give ground.

It seems like the old thread for this comic is gone, so I thought I'd restart the conversation.

Looks like Yori might be reaching the climax of a fight with another member of the Quirky Mini Boss Squad. Unfortunately, between the fact his view of Ina and the Master of Illusion ninja was blocked, Ina called him "Yorikiro" rather than just Yori, and the look of shock on the ninja's face, I have a bad feeling that Yori just stabbed the real Ina while the ninja disguised himself as Ina.
Any thoughts?
