Wired.com's geeky reads series.

Over the next nine weeks, Wired.com is presenting a collection of galleries intended to help people become better geeks, nine items at a time. This is the first of the series.

Here is the link

A new batch of books will be put out each week for 9 weeks total.

Lets discuss both the list and the books suggested by the list.

Also of note is towards the bottom of the article you can vote on items for the lists.

Why are "geeks" assumed to be a monolithic group of people? Kind of bugs me... That being said, i do own all 5 of the novels on the list.

Almost forgot about this topic. To answer your question the things are usually construed as geeky by "main stream" and geeks are often seen as monolithic to begin with. A lot of wired.com staff and writers tend to (sometimes over enthusiastically) embrace that.

Here is the next round of books for this article series Better choices this time around in my opinion.
