"Heh, at least it's easier for me to fix my face than it shall be for you to find someone to fix that helmet" said Brunhilde, her own face already healing due to her nature as a Heroic Spirit.

Canute blinked. So, the overseer's a woman, and... A spirit? That isn't right, is it? "But you are the overseer, are you not? And as such are of the church. Surely you can keep them out." He frowned. "Then again, this is no normal grail war, as is obvious by the fact that more than seven servants exist. Wonderful. Am I to expect further attacks from the Church?"

Mark drove the 2LS as he parked it on the side, asking his Servant to see if he can find any Servant nearby.

"Good thing I'm parked outside some kinda restaurant." The agent murmured. "Or something."

"Just as long as they don't start," Evander shrugged blithely at the sorceress, turning his gaze to Kesler for a moment. Tell your master that this church will be our meeting place tomorrow evening, he commanded silently, eyes flickering briefly to a golden hue, but first, sleep.

Caught completely unaware, the canine succumbed to the compulsion without even catching a glimpse of how it had been performed as he laid down and fell into a deep, restful slumber. The magus nodded in satisfaction. "And now that we are without spies," he straightened, addressing the fur-wrapped King, "I may be able to speak more freely and fully answer that question for you."

"Joan here was summoned directly by God, and thus is not associated with the modern-day Church, as I understand the matter. The foes you are dealing with are known as the Executors, a secret branch of the Catholic Church that specializes in assassination and sabotage and which utilizes magecraft that others of their ilk would consider heretical. Thankfully, the vast majority of them are mere humans, and the extent of their abilities is both limited and well-known to those familiar with such things. They should be well below the level of an average Servant. To be honest, I have no idea why they're here. I presume that, as part of the Assembly of the Eighth Sacrament, their intention is to take the Holy Grail for themselves, but that's only my own conjecture at this point."

The magus' face shifted to a more thoughtful countenance as he spoke. "I do have to wonder just what they're thinking, however, sending in so many. It might as well be an invasion... but that would be a violation of the official non-aggression treaty, wouldn't it? I hope they don't intend to turn this Cold War of ours into a Hot one. Of course," he brightened, "if they're in violation of the agreement, there's nothing to stop the magi of this town from slaughtering them wholesale, and it's not as if independent Servants need be bound by agreements made by the Mage's Association."

"Based on all the information I have been able to gather so far, I would say that further attacks by the Executors are more or less a certainty." Clasping his hands behind his back at his conclusion, he bowed slightly to the newer guests. "If you happen to come across any more, I would be much obliged if you were to dispose of them in the most excruciatingly painful manner possible. I would normally advocate mercy, but I'm a tad angry with them for destroying two decades of my research."

"Hm?" Nero started, smiling as she tried to mask her momentary panic, "I, um, n-no, everything is fine! This is all just a lot to take in. I'm still a little stunned, I suppose." She looked to the side. "I think I will go and soak in the bath for a little while and clean off. They do still have those, don't they? Baths, I mean. I assumed so, considering your Master's description of the accommodations."

With his now-typical reserved smile, the dictator grasped Au's proffered hand, shaking it firmly. "How could I refuse such fair terms, Your Majesty? And so, our pact is sealed! From this day forth, the three of us are allies!"

Crossing his arms, he stared up at the face of the mountain with a frown. "The only question that remains is, how shall we begin the construction of your new abode?"

Yi nodded, and felt the need to introduce himself, now that the three were together. "I am Rider, or Admiral Yi Sun-Shin of the South Korean navy. It will be a pleasure working with you. As for housing we are servants. We do not require much in the way of accomadations. What I would like would be a small room sheltered from the wind and rain where I can plan accordingly. Paper, ink and brushes. These would be best."

Other than what he asked for, Yi was also curious about how exactly Julius Ceaser would create these structures and objects. It was a useful power for certain and there could be many different ways to utilize it.

Arriving at last at the movie theater, Penthesilea stopped to examine the place. "The design has certainly changed since my time."

She turned to Nicholas. "Alright boy, I'll let you handle things from here. Meet me in the theater once you're done." she said, dismissing him with a wave as she walked into the nearest door. There was indeed a movie playing in this theater based off of Greek mythology. Unbeknownst to Penthesilea, it was Troy.

Joan nodded at Evander's explanation "That is how things stand. I shall need to deal with this menace from these... Executioners. I'm truly sorry for the attack you faced, Berserker. Still... I would ask you to leave those corpses outside the Church. I'll have to give them a proper burial"

"I understand... It has been a long day. Please, allow me to prepare the bath for you. Without the knowledge from your... Patter, it might be complicated to operate the bath" says Rider just before she retires to the bath. She preparing the tub with hot water for Nero, letting in some soap and bubbles into it too.

Buying the tickets, Nicholas noticed just what movie it was they were going to see. He stared at the title for a full ten seconds before deciding that one way or the other it would be entertaining. Though quite possibly disastrous and painful "Two tickets please"

After that, he walked to Penthelisea after buying some popcorn, sodas and more chocolate "Our movie is in room 5"

Tsubame woke up a little while afterwards... her whole body more than a tad sore and certainly hurting but that didn't bother the martial artist much. She looked at her surroundings and the called "Caster?"

Penthesilea nodded. "Very well."

She took the chocolate in hand, and calmly strolled into the theater.

A few hours later~

"HOW DARE THEY?! THEY PRESERVE THE STORY OF TROY IN THE PUBLIC MIND, BUT I AM NOWHERE IN IT? OH, BUT OF COURSE ACHILLES IS! Yeah, that went well. All Nicholas could do was watch as Penthesilea's once regal manner of speech devolved more and more into a storm of surprisingly modern vulgarity, cursing the heavens at this wrong she'd been dealt.

Observing the city through binoculars, Joseph felt his spirit fall into the abyss of despair.

This was unbelievable. It was a catastrophe. It was a disaster. It was an epic fail. It was....

Just another day in Josephs life. He sighed and finally stopped his desperate search for something that would convince him his predictions were wrong and retreated back into the forest at the edge of the city. There was no mistake, no last ember that would ignite his vain hopes. The signs were almost everywhere he looked: The Grail War was already in full swing. Almost 3 days late, there was no chance there would be a free spot that would allow him to summon a Servant. No possibility of him becoming a Master. As usual, he lost before the game even began. But still... Simply turning back and leaving at this point was unthinkable. He swore that he would return with Grail or not return at all.

With a burning determination that was born out of utter despair, Jospeh drew a summoning circle, situated in a small clearing near the edge of the forest. With deep breath and no conviction for his success he recited the words of the summoning.

Ye first, O silver, O iron.... O stone of the foundation, O Archduke of the Contract...Hear me in the name of our great teacher, the Archmagus Schweinorg.

There was no catalyst, no search for a spirit similar in personality

"Let the descending winds be as a wall...Let the gates in all directions be shut, rising above the crown...and let the three-forked roads to the Kingdom revolve...."

Just a simple invitation

"Shut. Shut. Shut. Shut. Shut.... Five perfections for each repetition...And now, let the filled sigils be annihilated in my stead! Set..... Let thy body rest under my dominion, let my fate rest in thy blade...."

For Someone... Anyone with desire to step into this world, and participate in the War for Holy Grail.

"If thou submittest to the call of the Holy Grail and if thou wilt obey this mind, this reason, then thou shalt respond...I make my oath here...I am that person who is to become the virtue of all Heavens...I am that person who is covered with the evil of all Hades....Thou seven heavens, clad in a trinity of words...come past thy restraining rings..."

And, in the end, it worked.

"...and be thou the hands that protect the balance-!"

Something had burst from the middle of the circle, and the whole clearing was overflowed with the white light. From the center of the blinding radiance, slowly appearing as the bright light vanished was a... being. Freakishly tall, clad in gold-black armor, with a helmet adorned with pheasant feathers that made him even taller, stood a man. Slowly he scanned his surroundings, before his gaze fell on Joseph who was standing in front of him paralyzed with shock. With a voice as sharp as the blade of the halberd he held in one hand he asked: Who are you?

Joseph quickly realized that this was not a right time to be stunned with surprise and quickly blurted: Eeerm. I welcome you valiant Spirit. I am Joseph Vlkov a magus who summoned you as a Servant to participate in Holy Grail Wa....ghhhhk

The change was too quick, too sudden to be observable by a mere human being. In one instant Joseph was standing in front of his Servant, and in the next one he was in the air, his feet hanging several centimeters from the ground, vainly struggling against armored glove that was crushing his windpipe. A massive killing intent washed over him, as a dark wave that tore his spirit and resolve to shreds. He looked at the face of the being he summoned and was met with its gaze, which was dark with rage. You dare to imply that I am your Servant? Insolent worm!

Suddenly released, Joseph was floating through the air with no idea what was happening. It was when he saw rapidly nearing ground that he realized that his assailant simply threw him away. He landed hard, the impact breaking his left arm, and the force of the throw was so huge that he continued to roll on the ground, until a trunk of the tree stopped finally stopped him. He remained lying there, too stunned for any action, with blazing pain in his left arm, until he heard a metallic clang, a sign that the man he summoned took his halberd in both hands, getting ready to strike. Spurred to action by pure survival instinct, Josephs mind finally began to work, frantically trying to find a way, any way to survive.

No!!! Wait!!! You misunderstood!!!

He screamed as he hurriedly moved into kneeling position. It was me who was supposed to be your Servant!!! I can help you in your Quest to win this Holy Grail war!!!

Joseph heard a quiet, mocking Oooh? before he felt... something striking him in his chest, rising him in the air and pinning him against the tree behind him. For a moment he thought that it was a blade piercing his chest, that he was already dead, but soon he realized that it was merely a blunt tip of the halberd. The Heroic Spirit observed him with a mildly amused expression on his face.

So you want to become my Servant, huh? Then tell me, pitiful worm, how can you serve such an incredible being as myself? Why shouldn’t I just kill you right now and here for daring to bother me with your insulting visage?

Joseph swallowed hard and answered: I-I am magus with some proficiency in healing arts. If you get wounded I can heal yo—AAARGH

Joseph screamed, at the sudden explosion of pain in his chest, as the pressure from tip of the shaft brutally increased, breaking several of his ribs. The expression of the Heroic Spirit was clouded with anger. You DARE to insult me AGAIN!?! You beg me to become my servant and yet think that someone like me can be wounded in battle! I should kill you right here for mocking me in such way!!!

No,no, no!!! That was merely a suggestion! Forgive me oh mighty one. I can do other things, more befitting for such a worm like myself. I can supply you with prana, I can find suitable battles for you, I can act as guide in this age... I beg you, I can be useful I swear!!! Joseph cried frantically, desperately trying to save his own life. The Heroic spirit suddenly smiled and withdrew his halberd, gently catching Joseph as he was falling from the tree.

I see you finally understood your place. Very Well, the services your offer can be...useful for me and my goals. So I will allow you to serve me for now. Do it well, and you will not only survive, but I will also reward you beyond your wildest imagination. Disappoint me and.... The Heroic Spirit smiled brutally, then straightened and looked around the clearing. This is interesting place. You said that you know some healing right? I will go and look around for a while. Pull yourself together and heal your wounds till then. You won’t be able to serve me in current state. After the cold reply, the Heroic Spirit vanished from Joseph’s sight.

Joseph grimaced, leaned against tree and lowered himself to the ground in a sitting position as he began to prepare spells and incantations to fix his broken bones. He was never good enough in healing arts to recover from such wounds at such rapid pace, but the failure was not an option. He could imagine pretty well what his “Master” would do if he was still incapacitated when he returned. Suddenly he realized something and raised his hand. After awkwardly rolling up his sleeve, he saw it: The three command seals – the proof of his Mastership and burst into hysterical laughter. He completely forgot they existed until now.

After a while, he stopped and calmed himself, beginning to think clearly once again. The current situation was... acceptable. He doubted he could stop his “Servant” with anything else then order to suicide, which would negate the very reason he summoned him anyway. Besides, it seemed that he was willing to cooperate with current...agreement. The Master-turned-servant sighed and focused on healing his wounds. His life, once again, has turned into a cruel, sadistic joke. Nothing new under the sun.

"I'll have to give them a proper burial."

"Ah!" Evander briefly held up a hand, stepping over to the lumbering corpses. "Before that... If I may, Lady Caster, I presume they were carrying bladed weapons of some kind? Daggers or swords, perhaps? What happened to those?"

"Thank you very much for your help, Rider." Standing by the sink, Nero peered over at the bath with interest as Arturia drew the water. "I truly appreciate it."

Modern society is so odd, she mused, eyeing the tub that was clearly only designed to fit one person, When he said there was a bath, I presumed it would be... well, a bath, I suppose. The kind I am used to. But... She shrugged to herself, shifting slightly to conceal her hands as she gripped the counter's edge, knuckles white. It is probably better this way. There are fewer reasons for her to ask questions.

Taking a deep breath through her nose in an effort to steady herself and calm her pounding head, the Roman Empress began to strip, carefully folding each article of clothing and laying it on the counter as she went.

"Hm..." hummed Saber as she placed a finger to her lips, raising her head as she looked at the mana springs. "Ah! I know exactly what I would like, Sir Caesar!"

Grinning a bit, Au turned and took a few steps towards the mana springs, her fingers pointing at a rather spacious piece of land near the side of the springs. "Alright. Sir Caesar, I understand you don't know much about the housings in my era... so I shall explain everything in great detail! First of all, I would like..."

Au then proceeded to describe literally everything about the home she desired. Even going as far as to describing the designs of the roof to the very specifics, and the type of wood that was to be used for the walls, floors, and roofs. After describing everything about her desired house to the very last detail, Au inhaled and exhaled a bit from speaking so much.

"Did you catch all of that?" asked Au as she turned towards Caesar. "I know that my... request is a little bit more grandeur and outrageous than Rider's... but I truly hope that there isn't any problems with carrying it out."

Lucas soon arrived at the high-class hotel room that he had purchased for the night, a slight look of interest on his face. "Heh... Clever magus, putting Kesler to sleep like that," spoke Lucas as he removed his tie and took a seat on a chair.

"Used your 'Watch through familiar eyes' thing again, mongrel?" said Gilgamesh as she took her coat off and placed it on the coat rack. Stretching her arms a bit, she sat on the edge of the bed.

"Yeah, I did say I'll have my eyes on him. Oh well, negotiations seem to be working well, so it doesn't matter all that much." The magus proceed to remove his long coat, having just a tad amount of trouble with his one arm, but he eventually succeeded.

"You aren't slightly worried that those incompetent worshiping mongrels will retaliate against you for this betrayal?"

"Not really, nor do I care if they do, since I have you after all," hummed Lucas as he moved over towards the mirror, inspecting himself for anything that may have been out of place.

Archer's eyed promptly narrowed a bit, "Who said that I'll still be willing to protect you then? You may be interesting, but that's it. Once you begin to bore me, I guarantee that I'll discard you."

"Perhaps, but..." Lucas turned his head and smirked at his servant, "I'd probably be okay with that, just as long as you are alive." Gilgamesh simply raised one of her eyebrows in response. "Ah, what I mean is, I don't particularly care if you abandon me later on in this war... since I'll know that you're still alive, and that's all that matters."

"What exactly are you saying, mongrel?"

Lucas sighed. "I'm saying that I wouldn't care if the beautiful girl I've begun falling for were to abandon me to die... Just as long as she was alive and well, I wouldn't mind, not one bit."

Gilgamesh simply glared at Lucas, her sharp eyes fixed on him. "Was that an attempt to 'flirt' with me, commoner?"

"Maybe." Lucas grinned wider.

"Did you forget who I am? I am Gilgamesh, the King of Heroes," stated the blonde servant as she stood up. She then began walking towards her master, her eyes filled with a hint of anger. "You, a worthless peasant, dares to flirt with the likes of me?"

The magus' grin soon disappeared, instead replaced with a slightly frightened smile as he shook a bit. "Y-Yes..."

"No one, and I mean no one flirts or makes moves on me." stated Archer as she made her way to Lucas. She glared directly at him with a scowl...but, it was soon replaced with a small smile. Slowly, she placed a hand on his shaking face, stroking his cheek a bit. "I always make the first move, mongrel."

And then, either out of pure impulse or an action of her own, she leaned in and gently pressed her lips against his; a simple kiss, one that belonged to that of a king and a commoner.

"What the hell are you doing?" "I'm playing a role, sir, what are you doing?"

Gradually, Joseph managed to fix himself. Well mostly. He managed to fix and heal most of the bones, but it will still take more than half an hour until the enchantments that accelerated the regeneration allow him full recovery. Meanwhile he improvised, and used one of his least-favorite shirts as an impromptu sling. Even so, he was almost out of prana. If it came to battle before he regenerated it, all he could rely on was the limited, unrecoverable prana stored in his Mystic Codec.

By then, the Heroic Spirit returned, with a clearly disappointed expression on his face: I have hoped that the summoning would have attracted some attention. A pity, it looks like I won’t get my first battle so easily... The Heroic Spirit murmured to himself, and then scowled at the rather sorry sight of Joseph: While fixing his arm and chest as best as he could, he still couldn’t do anything with his battered look. Or with the blood and dirt on his clothes. Or with the rather pathetic looking improvised sling on his arm. I said you should fix yourself by the time I came back!

D-Don’t worry master, I am almost fully healed! Joseph replied hurriedly, and waved (cautiously) with his arm in sling. He hesitated and cleared his throat. He would have to proceed carefully now. Master, I... I have to ask for a boon. I beg you tell me your name, I want to bask in its brilliance.

The face of Heroic Spirit momentarily clouded with irritation, but in the end he just shrugged his shoulders and replied. You insult me by not discovering it yourself when observing my Brilliance. Ah well, I can’t expect wonders from such addled mind. This is a boon I shall grant. Be amazed and afraid worm, for before you stand Lu Bu, the strongest warrior in this Heaven and Earth.

Lu Bu... Joseph whispered with reverence. Well, that would explain his attitude. More importantly, despite all....complications, it seemed that he was capable to pick a truly powerful card.

A Sudden a flash of anger lit Lu Bus features. Silence!!! Hearing my name from spoken by your mouth sounds like desecration. When I was summoned I was given a title of “Lancer”. It is a poor title, not reflecting my true glory, but it is more than fitting for a mouth of a maggot like you. So call me that. Lancer looked at Joseph with murderous gaze.I granted your boon. Now it is time to become useful. I demand you lead me to the site of this War!

Joseph gulped and replied with haste. O-Of course. There should be an overseer in the church, down in the city. If we talk to him, we should discover the current status of the Grail War. And from there, we can go and search for other Ser...Heroic Spirits.

Lancer ignored Josephs blunder and simply nodded, slowly walking towards city. Joseph collected his luggage, and quickly ran after him. Somehow, his hearth sang in joy. Yes, his prana was almost depleted, he was wounded before he even joined the grail war, and his Servant was possibly even more dangerous for him than for his enemies. But... He was a Master. He was still a contender. He still didn’t lose. And that was more than what he had hoped for this morning.

"Well... it kind of concerns you" mentioned Tsubame as she slowly rose to her feet "It... well, it was about you. The kind of home... you grew up on"

Nicholas tried very hard not to smile as he heard Penthelisea express her incredible rage at the modern depiction of the battle of Troy.

"Well, you got Homer to blame for that. He's the guy who told the story and as far as I understand he kind of put some focus on Achilles. Was he wrong in that?"

"Hmm? Those baubles? A good amount must be lying on the battlefield and then were left untouched by us... though you're free to check the walking dead to see if they are carrying anymore" said Caster, making the dead priests walk over to Evander.

It didn't take long for Rider to finish preparing the bath for Nero. She thens stepped outside the bath and said "Hope you have a nice soak, Nero"

After that... well, there was not much for Rider to do at the moment. She sat on a chair to wait until the old Roman Emperor finished her bath.

"Hey, hey, keep your cape King. I'm a Valkyrie, this rain is nothing to me" said the warrior woman as she started walking.

"Hmmmm." Caesar surveyed the mountainside carefully for a few minutes, then nodded decisively. "Yes, that should be possible, I'm quite sure. It will probably only be possible to erect half of the compound before dawn breaks, however, at which point I will need to leave for a time to attend to other matters. Which parts would you prefer be created first?"

"Oh, thank you! Hrm." Evander pulled back the coat of one of the not-zombies. Apparently he had thrown all of his weapons except one, a dirk. The magus removed it from the dead man's belt, sheath and all. Sliding it partially out to inspect the steel, he hummed approvingly at the wickedly serrated edge, then set it down and moved on to the next corpse. A similar inspection revealed that all the second Executor had left was a simple, straight-edged longsword.

Frowning in thought for a few moments, the aristocrat nodded, then turned back to Caster with a smile. "I presume that these belong to you and Berserker now for all intents and purposes, being spoils of battle as they are. Do you mind if I keep these two weapons, Madam? The Church imbues them with certain sacraments that are rather difficult and costly to reproduce, and stealing one directly from them without being detected is even more troublesome, so this is a rare opportunity for me."

With no reason to keep up her facade after Arturia left the room, Nero let her pretense of composure go, letting out a quiet gasp as her headache began to worsen even more. Each throb felt as if it pulsed through her every nerve, pain wracking the Pinceps's entire body.

Sinking from her suddenly jelly-like legs to her knees, she dragged herself ever so slowly over to the tub and carefully hauled a foot over the edge to test the water. Though the hot water initially elicited a hiss, that small discomfort was nothing compared to the trouble in her head, and she adjusted quickly. It's perfect! Rider even knew just the right temperature! Maybe we share even more similarities than I first believed! Feeling strangely light at the thought, the Emperor managed to get her other foot into the bath without trouble and eased herself down into the water. So... ahhhhh... wonderful.

For a while, the lookalike started to relax as her pain amazingly began to lift, but soon enough, the pounding returned with a vengeance. The episodes in which the agony subsided only to return immediately after were the worst. She'd learned over the years that those ones were always the most intense, sometimes progressing to the point that the former tyrant lapsed into delirium and felt like she was losing her mind. She hated it. Go away, go away, go away! she chanted silently, shutting her eyes tightly as she gripped the sides of the tub to avoid burrowing crescents into her palms, goawaygoawaygoawaygoawayyyyyy!

Breathing heavily as the tsunami hammering her skull quelled deceptively in preparation for the next wave, the green-eyed woman began to experience a horrible, growing feeling of dread. I thought- I thought I would finally be free of this curse now that I have Pater, but I can't go back to him and ask now! What would my hosts think? What would Rider think? Why did I forget to bring it with me?! I'm such an idiot! Such a stupid, stupid idiot! At that very moment, while she stewed in her self-loathing, her poison-addled brain decided it was time to redouble its efforts, and shuddering, Nero began to softly cry.

"If you could recreate my room before the night passes, then I will be greatly appreciative Emperor Ceaser. Now, if you don't mind, I think I shall turn in for the night. Servants don't require sleep but I would like to get acclimated to this era on my own for a while. If you need me, simply call. I shall be here, just not visible. Good night my friends." With this, Yi disappeared from sight. He could still be felt in presence by the other two, but his private time was precious. It was the time when he could plan best and look over the situation at hand and decipher the roadmap leading to the best outcome.

The current situation is as follows. I trust Au completely. She is not someone who would betray me. Emperor Ceaser and his allies are not as reliable. I can accept their token of friendship, and I will assume them to be on our side, but I cannot completely rule out the possiblity of betrayal. Based on our powers alone, we should be able to seize victory in this grail war if we are careful. However, if other alliances oppose us, things could become complicated.

Au's powers are broad and long-reaching. She is a dragon, of course. I doubt many others could have the power to oppose her. However, assuming there are, we must develop countermeasures. My own abilities are relatively limited. I must rely on my two allies to make up the bulk of our fighting strength. This war is not a battle of firepower though. With a countless number of participating servants, this is simply a test of endurance. Who will outlast the other. I will see to it that we will last until the end.

Fate/Zero spoilers. Memory segment:

''That was an ultimate might that could not be resisted at all.

The tremendous force of the dual Command Seals ravaged and crushed Saber’s form, at the same time drawing out all the prana that still remained within her body, weaving it into the light of destruction.

The released beam of light made a cross-section of the entire hall, directly impacting the Grail that floated upon the stage. Archer nimbly dodged this attack, but because he was in close proximity to the beam of light, its intensity made him momentarily unable to execute his intended attack on Kiritsugu.

In the heat of the lightning, the golden Grail that had once been a part of Irisviel’s body now quietly lost its shape, then vanished. Saber closed her eyes, not daring to look directly at this sight — now the last hope had been destroyed. Her fight had ended.

Since things were thus, how could she look upon this tragic scene with open eyes?

In truth, she never did open her eyes again. The Noble Phantasm, that had been forcibly executed in opposition to her own intentions, had already consumed all Saber’s remaining prana; she could not even maintain her physical Servant form any more. Saber had lost the strength and the will to remain in this world. Of course, this was also because her Master, who was also part of the contract, did not intend to let her stay.

Maintaining her stance of bringing her sword down, Saber started to leave this world; soon, her physical body also vanished.

In the moment in which she gradually lost contact with the real world, the riddle of this character Kiritsugu was the last consideration that flashed in Saber’s mind.

The adoring father that doted on his daughter, the warrior that hoped to save the world, the killer that had lost all hope in justice; it was various conflicting pieces of humanity that he showed, but in the end he had betrayed everything, denied everything.

Until the end, Saber could be sure only of the callousness and ruthlessness of this man’s heart.

Until the end, he and she had never been able to understand each other and build up a relationship of trust—no, perhaps it should be said that only at the final moment had she realized that she had never understood his true thoughts.

And yet, that was also not altogether unjustifiable—

Within her gradually vanishing awareness, Saber mocked herself.

How was she to understand this man who had not crossed paths with her beyond having given her three orders? She had once been unable to understand even the hearts of those at her side.

Perhaps all of this was the long and euphemistic punishment that tormented the ‘King who did not understand others’ hearts’.

Even though Saber left the world carrying many injuries, without having realized the burden in her heart, perhaps not having to personally witness the tragedy that came after was also a sort of recompense to her.

"Hmm...? What is it Caster?" Tsubame asks as she leans against the wall.

"I think my knowledge of the war would be inherently inferior to your personal experience... so please, do tell me" Replies Nicholas.

"Indeed" says Brunhilde as she shifts into her spirit form to move without the slight bother that is the rain.

"I don't care much for the Church's crude instruments... however, I'm not one to grant a boon without some sort of retribution. To say that in my time, warriors swore themselves to my service over a sacred weapon such as these" says Caster with a grin

"Besides, I work with my King here. What would you asks of this man, my grace?" asks Morgan to Canute.

After a good while had elapsed Rider walked over to the door of the bath and gently knocked on it "Nero? Is the bath satisfying? Do you need anything?"

Penthesilea pondered how to best drive the point home. "Alright then, boy, since this modern world seems content to cling to a tainted memory, tell me. What do you think happened? What has been told to you?"

I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serial

"I want you to promise me..." Caster's look changed, the firm one that Tsubame seen a few times before resurfaced. "That you won't see me just for that event!"

Caster's mood changed once again, he gave off a smile and gave off what seemed to be a warmer aura. "I know it's only natural for you to take pity on me but I've moved on. I'm more than a victim now. I'm a magecraft user. I'm a creator of machines. I'm a husband. I'm a heroic spirit! Not a lot of people can make that claim. My parents may have broken that machine but I made several in it's place! And my parents can't touch me now, especially since they haven't been born yet! And even if they did somehow appear in this time, they'd know better than to meddle in my affairs after what happened after my childhood! So please, for both of us, when you look at me, don't just think about the boy who got treated horribly by his parents. Can you do that for me?"
