Chapter 174 is out and Fuuka finally discovered the secret of Tomoko's pubes.

Where we also learn Asuka eats healthily, Fuuka apparently is a Big Eater, and Yuri eats like a boxer before weigh in day. Also Asuka drops to class B, but its okay, since Tomoko and most of the gang is in B anyway. Except Fuuka and Yuu. Poor Yuu.

Asuka finally made her power move.

I keep forgetting Asuka is a younger sister. What sibling(s) did she mention having?

She has an older brother. It was mentioned in Chapter 140.

He's a decent bit older than her 5~ years or so.

Re-reading the chapter its nice to see Asuka made a bit of progress with Tomoko seeing her as less of an idol.

But she still has a way to go I think.

She has a nice heads up over the girls now though.

Man a lot of stuff has happened in between, so wont go through those... I want to bring everyone's attention to the character sheets included in Volume 18, particularly Tomoko's and Asuka's.

Good lord, Tomoko's only 148 cm? Compared to that Asuka's 167 cm is huge, matched only by Yoshida.

Also no surprise that Asuka's Charisma stat is maxed out. The biggest surprise here is Tomoko's Charisma is also maxed out. Hmm.

Clearly, Tomoko’s must actually be measuring charisn’tma.

no it makes sense the problem was she wasnt actually trying to use her charisma. but the instant she actually tried to interact with people they just kinda kept letting her interact.

Additionally, Tomoko has two Maxed-out stats — Charisma and Critical. I have no idea what the latter even means, but there you go.

Incidentally, Tomoko's Charisma stat seems to have a qualifier to it, unlike Asuka's.

Another extra we got is Silver-haired tomoko hanging out with the delinquent trio, and you know what, she oddly fits in.

Fans are still wondering about what the heck the Critical stat is supposed to represent, though some posit that it represents a character's unpredictability.

Oh and many of the girls have qualifiers on their stats. Shizuku for example has max stats on Charisma, but it ALSO says "with boys".

What did we learn though? Well for example Asuka is apparently the tallest girl of the high school cast, at 167 cm, with Yoshida as the closest at 165 cm.

Tomoki meanwhile has 1 Luck. Yep.

And yes, Ucchi apparently has all 3s. So there IS something to what Tomoko saying how she was nondescript.

Also worth noting that out all the haremettes, Asuka average the exact same points than Tomoko, that along Futaki, makes them the top three characters stat-wise; while Yuri sits at the bottom with the worst average.

What was Tomoko’s for Charisma?

I buy volumes of Watamote alongside other currently releasing manga, but I accidentally bought a second copy of Volume 14 which I only realized once it arrived.

Funnily enough its one of my favorite volumes (it contains the university visit arc).

I'm a bit rusty, but I think Tomoko's qualifier was something like "her own opinion", while Shizuku's is "among boys".

Given this is official, when do we include these in their character entries? Other series have been given the treatment when stat blocks like this have come out after all.

They're kind of a joke, so they're less meaningful than even something like My Hero Academia stats, but if you want to add them to the character entries in a non-intrusive way, go ahead.

Well not like the I mean the maxed Charisma, but stuff like Asuka being the tallest non-adult is something to note for example.

The extras for Volume 18 have been scanlated.

They're quite extensive: The first half is a series of yonkoma where Tomoko is aware of the medium change and makes some assumption about what things are like then. The second half is three "what-if" episodes where Tomoko joined Masaki, Minami, or Asuka's social circles (and ends up a put-upon wallflower in all three).

The relationship chart has already been translated, though the page itself hasn't been typeset it seems. Eve more funny stuff, but a few that raise eyebrows. Like, Nemo apparently's thought that Tomoko's her friend since 1st year. Huh?!?

Some heartwarming stuff too. In the arrow from Tomoko to Yuri, Yuri is apparently the "best friend made in high school".

Thinking of that what-if where Tomoko joined Asuka's group, it's interesting that Asuka doesn't seem attracted to Tomoko like in the actual timeline. I doubt Tomoko would worry about potential boyfriends pitying her if she was Asuka's (secret) girl toy.

I'm wondering if that's because Tomoko didn't do the weird things Asuka likes her for, or because this whole thing is regular Tomoko's imagination.

Tomoko in that What If? is basically what Hina was, projecting a public image that privately she found exhausting to maintain.

That said, without her quirks Asuka would have little incentive to see her as anything MORE than someone who's part of her circle.

I'm guessing it is a YMMV situation. In the aforementioned AU, Asuka seems even more detached from her group than usual, with her only participation being the reminiscence of her failed makeup on Tomoko and here I might be reading too much, but she seems to be wistfully looking at Tomoko through the whole thing. To add on this, she has absolutely zero interest in the guys that try to hit on them and they seem to respond in turn, saying they don't want to borrow her things because they're "filthy".

Of course, speculation is already rampant on 4chan about what they exactly mean with that.

Asuka's never shown interest in guys in the main timeline, so she's more likely gay than bi. That's not something a timeline that diverged a few years ago would change.

She's definitely looking at Tomoko while that boy is asking for her number. Compared to the previous page, she's smiling but also grasping her arm. So maybe she does feel some attraction to Tomoko, which is making her conflicted between hoping Tomoko can get a boyfriend and wanting her for herself.

An amusing note: In the group shout, all four have their skirt hems hiked up as high up, but I think Tomoko is wearing a longer skirt higher up so she can lower it to cover more leg.
