TEEEETTTTSSSSSUUUUUUOOOOeh!
Why is nobody mentioning the script that got leaked to Cracked, the one that was uber-americanized and awful? I heard that a script before that one was far more faithful to the Manga than even the original anime, so I'm guessing that it was John Peters (If he's still producing it) changed it. CURSE YOU JOHN PETERS!
No one mentioned it because we talked about it in another Akira thread months ago (post 170)
and, if I remember right, the only thing telling us it was a real script was the person writing the article and he said he (A) got it from an unknown source, and (B) had no way of confirming if the script was real.

The Steve Kloves script is supposed to be faithful to the source material, despite all of the changes.
Meanwhile, Collet-Serra's last remake was the awful House Of Wax remake (that was as In Name Only as they come). I'm not holding my breath.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/I'll tell you what I'm worried about.
It's nothing so petty as American locations and actors. It's American storytelling, film techniques and those fucked up priorities of theirs overtaking the original story and conventions. The idea that it's could very well just be some other dumbass popcorn flick with the name Akira slapped on the cover.

ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Considering, if you've read the manga, the anime version wasn't that great (and I don't care if the guy who did the manga also did the anime; when you leave about 80% of your own story on the cutting room floor, you're not getting my respect), I don't see any reason to be optimistic here, especially considering the source material takes up about six phone books.

Don't you try anything, you baked good you.I've only watched the anime a total of 3 maybe 4 times and I still don't know whats going on. That being said, the only reason to watch it is the animation, which is stellar. I don't even think that the Manga was even finished when the anime was released.
Theres sex and death and human grime in monochrome for one thin dime and at least the trains all run on time but they dont go anywhere. Some faith in Hollywood has been restored.
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialKeira Knightly is also being approached for a role.
And apparently Garret Hedlund will be most likely be playing Kaneda.
GUNDAMU GUNDAMU
Funny, I've only seen him in one film and I barely even remember him (other than being in the film, of course).

I had suggested to someone that they set the film in a Neo Toronto. This way, purists could get Neo Tokyo (Canada has a sizable Asian population) and the studio could get the American influence. Said person thought it was a brilliant idea.
