Sinestro's his surname. His first name's Thaal. So blame his ancestors for coming up with the Obviously Evil family name
.
Eh, maybe his whole family was Obviously Evil?
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.Just saw the first scene teaser and the six minute teaser. Here are my thoughts.
First off, animation style. I was a bit put off in the begining, but I'll probably get used to it. Its very smooth, and the space scenes are beautiful. Most of the characters look okay if a bit kiddish. The only one who bothers me is Hal Jordan, who is way too top heavy. He's a test pilot, not a wrestler. I know alot of people who are complaining about the CGI, but they realy shouldn't. Animation needs to fit the tone of a show. Batman the Animated Series was animated in a pulp-noir style because it was a darker show. Superman was bright art deco. Green lantern is a space opera, so CGI works here.
The characters seem okay so far. Hals got more personality to him. His voice actor seems to be doing okay, though it's a shame they didn't use Nathan Fillion again.
I'm actualy rather happy that the Red Lanterns are the first villian. Or rather, I'm glad that Sinestro is saved for season 2. It's never a good idea to use the most iconic villian right off the bat. Plus if Sinestro shows up as a green lantern first, it will make his inevitable betrayal sting more. Also this makes it more likely that the Red Lanterns might pull a Heel Face Turn. Or more likely, a Heel Don't-Want-To-Kill-You-Anymore Turn.
Oa looks FAMNGASMIC!
Also: Hal Jordon stop hitting on your (complelty unessary given you have a ring) SPACESHIP!!! Jeez, ya creepy bastard.

Let's make a TCG!I saw the premier at NYCC, and it's really cool.
The animation is fluid, and the constructs are creative.
The Red Lanterns are definitely toned down, but as Timm said at the panel, there's only so much they could get away with.
It's set more or less entirely in space, but Carol shows up at the beginning.
No origin story yet; according to Timm, Hal's been a Lantern for about 2-4 years as of the premiere.
Definitely a show I'll be keeping track of.
EDIT: Oh, and Razor has an interesting character arc set up. Zillius is actually really memorable when you see a bit more of him, and is definitely evil.

I want to see this. I've always wanted to get into Green Lantern, but for varying reasons I've had zero access to comic books or the DCAU. I'm able to watch this, once it premiers, but I'll probably miss any big retcons or possible Adaptation Decay.
The look isn't really my thing, but I'll get used to it. I do like the way Hal himself looks. It looks like it'll be worth a watch, so I'll put it on my list.
Actually a girl.So since it appeared nobody had done it yet, and the show premieres on Friday, I went ahead and made a page for it. Since this was my first attempt at a page, help on it is more than welcom

For future reference, you need to put works pages in the proper namespace(WesternAnimation/, in this case), set the page type to 'work'(open the tools folder in the side bar) and index it(I've done this for you, though I might have missed an index or two). You should also request a custom title if the work's name isn't entirely alphanumeric/begins with a number, but that's less important(especially in this case).
Good work on the page itself, though.

Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - Camacan
That was meant as a "here's what you forgot to do so next time you make a works page it might be a perfect launch" sort of thing. Nobody's enforcing namespacing yet.

But Sinestro was in the first film... as a Green Lantern. I guess you can't market a good guy that becomes a bad guy...
