Yeah, preview should do. That said, at least when it comes to such things as punctuation, custom titles should not add constraints to where a trope or work name can be actually linked, as a trope or work can be mentioned in various grammatical contexts. I'd say a custom title that ends in punctuation should at least merit a warning on the page, or add a reminder in Editing Tips.
Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?I, um, wasn't aware we had a preview feature, and here's why.

I'm looking for the preview button next to the save button, but that's not where it is. It's randomly off to the left below my handle. I swear I have never noticed it before.
... But the real reason to add this parser feature, IMHO, is the dozens of existing doubled punctuation marks, most of which were probably added back in the days of ptitles. I don't think there's a good way to search and destroy them.

I edited your post to pothole your picture link. Click the edit post button to see the markup.
If you really want to display pictures directly on the forum, you have to upload them to the wiki first, here.

There's a lot of things there's no good way to mount a search & destroy mission on(
like using "it's" as a pronoun
). Sometimes you just have to accept that the only way to fix these things is to correct them when you see them.

Some custom titles include sentence-ending punctuation: for instance, the custom title for Captain Space, Defender of Earth! is "Captain Space, Defender of Earth!" with the exclamation point.
It is not uncommon for people to have written said sentence-ending punctuation into the wiki markup, either prior to the creation of the custom-title system, or just because it looks weird in the editor to have the Wiki Word at the end of a sentence with no punctuation following. In the rendered page you get double punctuation: "Captain Space, Defender of Earth!!" but only one of the exclamation points is blue.
Would it be feasible to have the parser notice when a Wiki Word with a custom title is immediately followed by the same punctuation mark as ends the custom title, and remove the duplicate? I've seen this in a whole bunch of places, and I think it's not going to be practical to get rid of all of them and keep them gone.
