I think we're getting more fluid transformations in this one…
Also, I can't help but feel that the human-produced transformers might be an attempt to make a Shout-Out to the mass-produced EVAs. But then again, it's probably just a coincidence and nothing more.

Stanley Tucci and Mr. Hernandez are definitely not the same person.

What were we talking about?
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectSo it took 4 movies... but in Japan, Dispensor finally gets an

.
I don't recall him having wheels. Still, that was one of my favorite things about the first movie, all the world's electronics being sleeper Megatrons...in hindsight, that army probably would fall into infighting long before it conquered the Earth...or maybe not...
Anyone who reads the tie in comics know exactly what sparked Megatron's change of heart in the third picture? He was perfectly willing to cannibalize other robots to repair himself in the second but nursed a nagging injury for years in the third. and then there is the part where he asked for peace.
Buldogue's lawyerIt was being humiliated by Sentinel Prime and dethroned as leader that made him take perspective on what he really wants. The movie and novelization vary greatly on what happened in the end, but it's not that great of a leap going from his current state to realizing the futility of what he was participating in.
I have to admit, my hopes about the movie have grown quite a bit since the latest trailer. DOTM tried hard to get a plot going that was more coherent and managed to hit a couple of really good emotional beats, but the actual relevance of the title "Dark of the Moon" is shuffled to the side at the halfway point and mostly just becomes another war story. Action and visuals were beautiful as always but it still felt really broad and unfocused at that point.
Age of Extinction really sounds like an interesting character story as Optimus has to deal with being betrayed by humanity and trying to contemplate the devastation of his species. But who knows, that stuff might also be shuffled to the side once the Dinobots come into play.
I think the first movie is still the strongest, as I liked how Sam came to understand his petty concerns (get a car to impress a girl) are really irrelevant in the grand scheme of things and he had to step up to be a hero in his own right. Many complained about the teenage drama getting in the way of the robot action, but I think it worked in the movies favor to have that contrast. DOTM also mirrored that element in many ways. I think Age of Extinction may have something similar with Wahlberg's character, his concern for his daughter will compliment Optimus' anxiety over his own family.
I think LaBeouf did an okay job with what he had to work with. It's taken the entire franchise a while before hitting the butter-zone with human characters in general, they ended up either too useless or too overpowered. Jack from Transformers Prime is the only prominent teenage character to have virtually no one hate him, because he doesn't do anything outrageous but is just smart enough to know where he can be of the most help. Sari from Transformers Animated is more complicated on that subject.
Adult human characters fared a little better in principle, especially military types like Lennox, Fanzone and Fowler. And after thinking Wahlberg was going to be more along the lines of his serious work, the "Sweetie, get my alien gun!" line proves he have bouts of his "psycho-Wahlberg" mode a lot of people like.
Side note - if I recall correctly, the role that Wahlberg's going to have was originally offered to Rock Johnson, and while I know that they'd probably play it off differently with a different actor, after seeing Mark Wahlburg in the trailers thus far, I'm having a very difficult time imagining the role being played by The Rock.
Which is probably a good thing, really. Even if it's not an established character, it's still a good thing if he's really making the role his own as he appears to be.
Yeah, he's had bad luck with films (Tooth Fairy, anyone?), but he's usually the best thing in those movies.

They ain't the same guy? They certainly are the same character.
