I just recently had a thought about the mystery dungeon series.
Humans who have been to the Pokemon World and back gain the ability to talk with pokemon.
Since the true identities of those humans are never revealed, that means it's possible for say a certain leader of a certain fake Pokemon rights group to have been to that world, where he saw how Pokemon faired without humans.
One Strip! One Strip!I don't really read the stories that contain it, but Ash getting betrayed is stupidly popular for some reason.
My theory is writers took the idea you see in Naruto and Harry Potter fanfics. Like Naruto getting banished after the failed Sasuke Rescue Mission or everyone turning on him because he’s the Kyuubi vessel and Harry discovering he’s being ‘manipulated’ by Dumbledore if not everyone.
They basically decided to take that concept and apply it to Pokemon despite it making even less sense then the previous examples.
The only Pokemon fics with Ash that I read are the ones that treat his Pokemon like actual characters like Ashes Of The Past. His Pokemon are the only reason I still bother following the anime. Finding good fics like these are very hard.

I, personally, write Pokéfics that are closer to the games, such as Pokémon: Clefairy Tales, which has few real divergences from the story (Adaptation Expansion not accounted for, of course).
I never knew people did that Naruto Fandom-Specific Plot with Ash. That's really weird to try and make into a sensible plot.
Well, Ash did have some very vaguely defined powers back in Sinnoh; though the reasons I would assign for the fan-crossovers' existence would be the same as those stories that mix either of those with Harry Potter: Practically everyone in their age group knows about them.
Conversely, the lack of knowledge about the characters of lesser adaptations of the Pokemon franchise prevents me from writing a Massive Multiplayer Crossover between the adaptations, whether as a Campaign Comicnote or as an outright Crisis Crossover. Then again, the former would also be frustrated by the low episode count of Pokémon Origins and the fact that too much Remixing of existing Manga can lead to being Screwed by the Lawyers; leaving the playgroup of the classic Anime as the group-in-focus by default.

Shamelessly promoting my own fic...
Human civilization in the Pokemon world is built on stolen lives. After Ash's retirement from training, Pikachu is chosen to lead a rebellion, but she doesn't know where to begin. Taking Takeshi Shudo's idea for a Pokemon rebellion and running with it.
It's still in-progress, but I'm still updating the story pretty regularly. Let me know what you think! (Constructive criticism)

shameless self-promotion: The Power That's InsideAlternative Character Interpretation I guess, haha.
Tbh I stopped watching the anime after Johto way back when and always thought Pikachu was a girl, so I wrote that in for my childhood self :)

shameless self-promotion: The Power That's InsideI haven't been able to find any good reading material in months. I'm not motivated to finish my backlog because each story is long (one is at 96 chapters now, and they're not short chapters) + I've lost track of where I was, and several interesting stories I am motivated read look like they've died or have long time spans between updates.
Lack of good content is to expected from this medium, but it still depresses me a bit. This isn't helped by the fact that writers are too fixated on making stories about Ash, which I refuse to read regardless of quality because of how often he's derailed.

My lack of interest is due to not being a Digimon fan. Make it a crossover with Kingdom Hearts, and then we'll talk.
