As the combatants fell, the glow of the Light Barrier seemed to grow stronger for a moment where Citrine once stood and around Sam.

"Now, Emperor, attack his life points directly."
At the command, The Emperor reached out, slashing at Daisuke.
Burn up, hurricane of justice!Justin watched the duel's progress with great interest. That girl, Sam, wasn't lying when she said she was good. She definitely had an advantage over Daisuke. Then again, so had Justin...
On the other hand, that girl looked to be a far better duelist than himself. Her Arcana monsters were pretty strong, plus they had some useful effects. In the time it could take for Justin to fuse his strongest monsters, Sam would have decimated him.
James looked over the duel with interest, now those two kids interested him. While nobody likely gave a damn about them now, they would in the tournament.
Which meant that he'd have to work hard to get through.
He decided to get in some practice, "Hey, you, would you want to duel?" He was itching to get in a duel of his own.

If he had anything to destroy a spell or trap, he probably would've used it last turn...so it's probably safe to activate that now.
Sam inserted a spell card into her duel disk, "I'll activate the continuous spell Second Coin Toss and end my turn." she declared.
Burn up, hurricane of justice!I think I'll just use the draws from the last duel.
James smirked, "Alright, I will take the first move! I start by summoning Chaos End Master in attack mode!"
An angelic monster appeared on his field amidst light and dark energies.
"And now, I activate Allure of Darkness, letting me draw 2 more cards, but then, I exile my Sphere of Chaos from play. I will set 2 facedowns and end my turn."
James had barely let Justin get into position when he started the duel. He was certainly an eager one.
With a monster drawn and two face down cards, Justin drew his next card and studied his hand. A moment later, he came to a decision.
"I'll place a card face down," Justin announced. "Then I'll summon Sparkman!"
The golden/blue elemental hero appeared on the first, crackling with electricity.
"Sparkman! Destroy that monster!" Justin ordered, and Sparlkman leaped forward, ready to destroy its opponent and deal a hundred points of damage to James' life points.
And so, when the Chaos End Master ripped through the attack and fired back a white beam right through Sparkman, something else began.
"Quite a wise assessment, because when my Chaos End Master destroys a monster in battle, I can summon 1 monster of Level 5 or higher, but with 1600 attack points or less. Now, from my deck, I special summon the Sphere of Chaos!"
A large sphere appeared on the field, dark and light energy pulsing from it.
"And then, I activate the trap card Escape from the Dark Dimension during your end phase, which means I can summon back another Sphere of Chaos, one I removed from play thanks to Allure of Darkness."
Another Sphere showed up on his side of the field!

"My turn, and now I play the Spell Card Gold Sarcophagus, which lets me remove from play my Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning and in two turns...it is added to my hand."
"And now, I Tune Chaos End Master to the Sphere of Chaos I summoned with Escape from the Dark Dimension, letting me summon Thought Ruler Archfiend!" The Chaos End Master turned into three rotating circles, and the Sphere of Chaos flew through them.
The result was a huge, green and silver creature of a decidedly wicked appearance. Its very presence seemed to cause a psychic burst of energy.
"What do you think?"
"And now for my normal summon, I call on Daybreaker!"
A knight in white armor appeared on the field.
"Now, all of you will attack him directly!"
The Knight struck first, slashing with his sword. Then the Thought Ruler breathed out an odd black breath weapon full of static at Justin, and the Sphere of Chaos simply bowled right at him.
Sam stared at the facedown for a moment, trying to decide how to play this.
"My turn, I draw. And then in my standby phase, Light Barrier." The hologram of the card appeared above her head again, spinning, slowing and eventually stopping. "Inverted. So this turn I have to leave my Arcana monsters' effects to chance."
"Now, I'll activate my trap card, Lucky Chance." The trap card rose up, "With this, when I activate a monster effect that requires a coin toss I'm allowed to call heads or tails, and if the result comes up as I guessed, I'm allowed to draw a card."
She eyed Daisuke's facedown, waiting for some kind of confirmation that it wasn't about to activate.
Burn up, hurricane of justice!A trap card, eh? Although maybe he meant to say that and he's just bluffing...but what if its something useless like another fusion trap...
"Very well, I'll activate Monster Reborn to bring back my Chariot. Now for his effect. I'll call heads."
The card appeared above her head again, spinning, slowing and stopping...upside down.
"Let's pretend that never happened, shall we? Second Coin Toss."
It it began spinning again, this time ending upright.
"Just as I thought. And now I get to draw a card for Lucky Chance."
Burn up, hurricane of justice!

Sam sighed, that monster was going to be annoying if she didn't get rid of it right away. Great...now Chariot's effect's completely wasted...but it's better than letting that thing destroy my Emperor...and I'll still get the life boost from Light Barrier.
"Very well, Chariot, attack Gem-Knight Citrine. Feeler Cannon."
The monster stretched its arms out towards the knight, all cannons firing.
