As the party crossed the town, Joe noticed that a number of the inhabitants were glaring at them. What the fuck did we do? He thought to himself. He was getting distinctly uncomfortable, but didn't let it show. He wondered what they all had gotten into, and hoped that Rick's choice was the right one.
The men kept leading them through the city, twisting through back alleys and side roads until he arrived to small, nondescript house. "Enter," He said, "The Queen is waiting."
Andy was skeptical. "Do you really expect us to believe there's a queen in that place? We're not that stupid."
The man smiled wryly "And we are not so stupid as to leave The Queen in a place where she could easily be found and assassinated. In you go. Don't make me say it twice."
Kyle stayed at the back of the group, this place was just amazing, a whole town or city underground and so many people living here...but if they were underground, then why? Were they hiding from something like a dragon or some other mythical monster?
Kyle did not say anything throughout the trip up to the house and just took everything in. Quite a quaint little house for a queen to live in...
Anne-Marie stayed close to the group, silently marveling at the elaborate underground city. She'd never seen anything like this in her life. Finally, the group arrived at a small, ordinary looking house, which the man leading the group said belonged to the Queen.
Life is like a game of Mahjong. Sometimes you need to take risks if you want to come out ahead.Joe looked forward and kept quiet. He had an ulterior motive for his volunteering. He had thought about it since last night. He had seen his friends and teammates die, and that coupled to what he said to his parents before he left...
He frowned and thought If someone should die, it's me. I can't stand this. Why did I have to live and the others not? Besides, with my leg I'll just hinder the others. It's logical.
Well, thought Andy, at least I won't die bored. It wasn't a very comforting thought, but it was something.
The man led them through a curtain and into a room that seemed much to large for the house they were just in. In the center was a large round table, with several chairs around it. In the largest sat a tall, thin woman wearing a lacy black dress that went down to her ankles and whose sleeves extended past her hands. Her black hair was tucked up in a bun, and a white porcelein mask hid her face. Taking up most of the mask was a large black spade.
She looks like she would break if you touched her to hard, mused Andy.
Underneath the bridge The tarp has sprung a leak And the animals I've trapped have all become my pets

"Oh, wow. How long has this been here?", Sue whispered in awe.
The city/town/village reminded her of a location from one of her father's novels. She found herself completey absorbed in the majesty of it all. She would look up, down, and side to side in an effort to take it all in. She took notice to the red-skinned beings going about their business. A few would look in the direction of the party and quickly avert their gaze and scurry away, sometimes taking the younger ones (one could only assume they were their young) in their arms to hasten their collective retreat.
She wondered how deep they were underground by now. If we fell down from the cave, then came further down...no, that's not right. We could see a definite sky earlier. This isn't 'Lord of the Flies', it's 'Journery To the Center of the Earth'... Who knew we'd run into the Morlocs, too?
Give the world the best you have and you will get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you have anyway.
