The man shook his head. "Then listen to this: Come with us, or we kill you". He made waved his hand, and the men behind him drew their weapons.
"Somehow I don't think this is the best way to deal with them." Andy remarked, still backing away from the man.
Underneath the bridge The tarp has sprung a leak And the animals I've trapped have all become my pets"And why should leave intruders alone in The Queen's territory, abandoning our sacred duty to her?" The mans snorted, "Be happy we didn't kill you on the spot."
"Jesus fucking Christ man," said Andy "listen to him. Are you trying to get us killed?"
Underneath the bridge The tarp has sprung a leak And the animals I've trapped have all become my petsKyle sighed, this was getting them nowhere...
Except for maybe killed.
He spoke up, "We would definitely be willing to go with you." He was not dying yet, and he stepped forward as if trying to make himself leader. If all the others were floundering around like dying fish...

"Obviously not, Outsider, or you wouldn't be here. It would be much more advantageous to be with someone who knows the land, don't you think? You have no food or water. This cave barely counts as a shelter. Even if we leave you be, the elements will kill you sooner or later. We do not plan on hurting you. That's for The Queen to decide."
Underneath the bridge The tarp has sprung a leak And the animals I've trapped have all become my petsAnne-Marie nodded, echoing Joe's sentiment. As nervous as she was about the locals, not knowing their intentions towards the group, it would be a relief to see some semblance of civilization.

Life is like a game of Mahjong. Sometimes you need to take risks if you want to come out ahead.Alice rested fitfully, halfway between awake and asleep. She thought she heard a struggle, but that could have been all in her mind. In any case, it alternated between her memories of the past day, and her image of Linda and Christine...
no no that didn't happen that was merely a hallucination stop thinking about it
And then new, odd voices entered the conversation. Turning around, she saw some men out of the Middle Ages confronting the other teenagers, asking them to go with them. And her classmates, in turn, were flailing around, uncertain, resentful.
They didn't get it. This was not the time to make a statement. Maybe she was glad that Joe hadn't been the leader.
Getting up, she turned to the leader of the men and said, "I would be happy to come with you, sir."
First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win."Finally," said Andy, "I was thinking you were just going to let them kill us."
Wordlessly, the man sheathed his sword and made a motion with his hand. The sand around him suddenly began to writhe, pushing aside until a whole appeared in the earth. A flight of stairs led down into the dark, too far down to see the end. "Stay in front of us," He commanded, "Don't make any sudden movements or try to run off. It won't end well for you."
Underneath the bridge The tarp has sprung a leak And the animals I've trapped have all become my petsSoon after the light from above could no longer be seen, the stairs ended. The students began to walk down a long passageway, sloping very slightly downwards.
Even after her eyes adjusted to the near-darkness, Alice found it hard to make out any distinguishing features in the tunnel. As far as she could tell, there were no doors on either side, and the tunnel itself seemed to be of about uniform width and height. The only thing that broke up the monotony of the trip was the noise; a couple times during the journey, she could make out the sound of some kind of machinery, seemingly on the other side of the wall, making a dull CLANK-CLANK-CLANK. These spots were soon passed, however, and their journey once again fell into silence.
Alice walked, not speaking to any of the others. She soon began to lose track of time. How long had it been? Half an hour? An hour? More? There was no way she could tell.
At some point, however, the students ahead of her stopped. A large, closed iron door blocked their path.
First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.The leader of the men stepped forward and rapped against the door three times. Slowly, the gate swung open, revealing a large cavern stretching in all directions. Inside, buildings were carved into the rock, and people hurried around. Only they weren't quite people. There skin was red and tough looking, like stone, and cracked in some places. Their eyes were the same dark violet as the hooded man's.
"Holy shit." said Andy, "How is this even possible? How long would it have taken to build this city?"
Underneath the bridge The tarp has sprung a leak And the animals I've trapped have all become my petsThe party moved along a street, going further down into the cavern. They seemed to be heading to some kind of temple or palace, also carved into the rock, located at the very bottom of the basin. As they walked, they could see the red-skinned creatures staring at them.
As Alice moved along, she wondered if she had been wrong to assume this world was one at a Middle Ages level of technology. Yes, many of the inhabitants carried swords, rather than guns, and there were no cars, mobile phones, or other such marks of her prior life. On the other hand, lights that looked stronger than mere candlelight shone out of the houses, and at one point she stepped over something that looked like a streetcar or train track. The houses were more elegant than one would have expected, as well, many of them featuring intricately carved designs on the stonework.

First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win."My god" Joe murmured as he looked around him. He was simply awestruck. Never in his life did he imagine seeing something like this. He became excited, which soon mixed with a bit of fear when he finally remembered the situation they were in. He mentally prepared himself for anything, hoping that the party wasn't going to be executed or thrown in a dungeon for the rest of their lives.

Rick nodded at the two, and then turned his attention to the "locals" and said, "We mean you no harm, and we are willing to listen to you."
