The video card is what renders the file viewable by a human. The file is the file. It doesn't know anything about the video card.
Anyway. Capture the file where you are happiest with the image. People viewing it will get whatever experience their video card is capable of.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyWell, I don't know if I asked this in the right place, but the concern I have goes something like this:
If you visit AvengersEarthsMightiestHeroes on a Windows XP or 7, some of the characters' pictures look faded. However, if you go to the site
where I got those pictures, they look a little more vibrant. Should we re-take these?
BTW, "Mac Preview" refers to the program I usually use to take screencaps.

Basically, the issue is that Macintosh monitors have a lower Gamma setting than Windows monitors (1.8 versus 2.2), which is what causes the difference. Any image optimized for a Mac will look dark on Windows, and an image optimized for Windows will look bright on a Mac.
Here's a link that gives a good explanation, including some ways to fix it: [1]

Apparently I am adorable, but my GF is my #1 Groupie. (Avatar by Dreki-K)

I notice that pictures I capture with my MacBook look fine on that computer, but dark and/or faded on a Windows XP. Does this mean those pictures need replacing, or I should not visit TV Tropes on a Windows?
