I'm planning on mashing up the English version of "The World's Greatest Criminal Mind" from The Great Mouse Detective with Faster Kill Pussycat by Paul Oakenfold.
The French version of "Be Prepared" from the Lion King was cool. And Jean Reno is Mufasa!
Yeah, Jason Kreis ain't exactly a soccer star.A non-Disney one, and not technically one from a musical, but a song from an animated show. Every translated version that I've heard of the song "Love Makes the World Go 'Round" from The Powerpuff Girls is pretty good, but the Japanese version stands out to me, especially since the Japanese voice actors sound eerily similar to the English ones:
Finnish "I Won't Say I'm in Love" from Disney's Hercules. The only Finnish translation which I find to be better as the original English version.
They replaced Megara's smarmy snarkiness with more a more straightforward performance, which made her more dull for most of the movie, but I think it paid off in this song. There's just more energy to it. Even from the Muses, because they're not preoccupied doing their gospel shtick in a song where that shtick just does not fit.
The lyrics are way less clever, but just listen to that and the original
back-to-back. There's way more passion in the translation.
That singer has some set of pipes, but I find the lyrics kinda wonky-sounding.

Lumiere's Dutch voice actor is great, but Mrs. Potts just sounds a little weird to me.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~Madrugada

Not just Disney, but those animated musicals seem most obvious to me.
