does anyone else love this genre? I was listening to Ritual of the Savage today (and in fact, am listening to it again right now) and realized I haven't really asked before.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, fear not! For here's a Wikipedia article.

I have the Johnny Richards Orchestra's The Rites of Diablo and that's a lot of fun.

Also got some Yma Sumac albums. She's definitely some kind of singer. Though my favorite is Mambo! which, aside from her strange singing, is more of a straightforward Latin album than Exotica.

Yma Sumac's kind of left field in the genre, I like her well enough, though.

Do you have anything by Martin Denny or Les Baxter?

Hm, there's also the related genre of Space Age Pop. Do you have anything by Esquivel! or The Three Suns or anything like that?

I heard some Esquivel, didn't care for it at the time; I'm thinking I should give him another try. I've got Song of the Second Moon by Tom Dissevelt & Kid Baltan. I'm still not sure whether I like it or not.

I got into Stereolab earlier this year, and they've got more than a little bit of space age pop influence.

Song of the Second Moon isn't really Spage Age Pop, though. Or if it is, it's very much at the edges of the genre. That's like....very early electronica.

What you should get is Space Age Pop Vol. 1. I have a link, do you want it?
