I played tenor sax in the school jazz band. Most of the people who weren't in my year were kind of crap, though there were exceptions to the rule. When I was in it we mostly played stuff by Herbie Hancock, Victor Lopez, some swing standards and so on, but by the time I'd left that was too complicated for most them, so the guy in charge threw up his hands and sent for arrangements of "I Gotta Feeling".
I also played in the main school band (essentially an orchestra without strings, I suppose), which played a lot of medleys; show tunes, pop hits, movie soundtracks, that sort of thing. Originally I played the alto sax, but then I switched to tenor because I needed to double the trombone parts.
Thought about joining the orchestra, but they already had too many clarinet players, and I was never free on the afternoons they practiced on.
Presently, I'm playing tenor in the university big band. When it's good, it sounds great, but when it's bad, it's rubbish.

I'm in Senior Band this year, and a few members are abuzz because our music teacher has hinted that he wants to bring out "the piece" later this year. A certain song that has gained infamy among previous years for being really long, really difficult, and really awesome. Specifically, this:

Just a place to share music you have played/are playing/will play in your school's band class; any grade, any instrument. We don't seem to have a thread for this, so here you go.
I'm a percussionist, though I seem to specialize in the timpani. At the end of last school year (when I was still in Junior Band— grades 9-10), one of the songs we played was this awesome little number:
