I was thinking more off a power-up time.
Like 9 months, no creations to build an Aircraft Carrier.
A Blackhawk would take a day, power armor 10 hours, AT/MANPADS half an hour.
This guy will be making use of Bottomless Magazines, though.

... The way you word it make it sounds like the time he hasn't gone without relieving himself... [lol]

But yeah, letting it build up sounds fine with those time frames. tongue

Question: is the currently powerless but unkillable (not that this means injuries heal quickly...) loli acceptable?

Of course, 'fast learner' would be an understatement, she already half-knows the principles for most stuff.

That's acceptable, Raineh.

Help me think of some lore and backstory too, anyone who's interested. I wanna make this fun for you guys. tongue

Hmm... question, would the embodiment of destruction be for just one book or all of them? The thought of there being the possibility for more than one is scary... and if there isn't then there's an excuse for this person to have sometimes-outdated knowledge about every world. Good to have a living encyclopaedia, right? XD

Just one book.

Sacrifice ensures that normally gods stay inside one book (because they can't die normally and they'll get too powerful if they can go into other ones). However in your case, yours can go to the other ones, sealed as he is.

That and not all the books have gods...

...It's kind of a dumb question, but would characters know they're in books from the beginning, or would they have to find out? Or would it be a case-by-case basis?

And would it be too much to ask if a character who finds out they're in a book thinks they're in one genre, when they're actually in a completely different one? Like, someone who thinks they're in a fluffy heroic adventure where good always triumphs over evil, except they're actually in something far more... Lovecraftian? >.>

Best just to hope that no-one breaks the sealing even a little, then, isn't it? Native gods or godless places would be horribly confused... XD

Sleep-time for me.

@Moe:They'll find out. The books aren't the world, per se, but rather the souls of the world, the print in said tome displays what has already happened. If interference is invoked, the timeline after the present will change. They also serve as portals for dragging out characters.

And yeah, it'll be amusing seeing the characters respond to different genres than they intended... evil grin

Hm...

So far, we have a mysterious library where books house the soul of a "world." People that die in one book get reborn in another book as another character in an endless cycle. Something has managed to rewrite a great many of the books, changing the paths the worlds have been taking. As such, worthy souls that are in the process of being reborn are thrust back into their latest body's incarnation and sent to do the biddings of the Librarian, who is the caretaker of the works.

So,a sword-fighter in a fantasy book could become a superhero in a comic book? Some libraries have comics sections right?

...Yes. Though the more powerful your character, the greater their Sacrifice(s).

Example: If someone wanted to be able to talk with animals, then his Sacrifice would be that he cannot consume meat or he cannot communicate for a day with the beasties. And so on. The more restrictive your Sacrifice is, the greater the power your character gets.

So if you save a squirrel from being eaten by a wolf,by ripping your arm off and gving it to the wolf, what would that get you?

Kinda like the Contracts in Changeling The Lost, then? Except without the catches?

This looks... interesting...

It's kind of funny. Sufficiently advanced stupidity is like sufficiently advanced science; eventually, you find something you can't solve.

@Zidane: Something good. tongue

@Anura: Yes. You can also gain other Compensations if you choose to take on more than one Sacrifice, or get really creative with a weak Compensation. It's a flexible system.

Would the way Sacrifices work allow for Loophole Abuse? I really like Rules Lawering. It makes me feel smart.
