also Erika isn't the most reliable expositor of things anyway considering that "oh no the Eaters are trying to find the Digital World solely because of me" is a logical conclusion for her based on preexisting evidence but it makes much more sense that Suedou's override command is the determining factor and Erika's subconscious just gave the Eaters a bigger push/emotional interest.

I'm glad that cyber sleuth and hacker's memory got a western release but i kind of wish namco bandai had put a bit more effort into the localization. While the story itself doesn't seem the best or anything (albeit better than what you'd expect from a random licensed game), the nonsequitur answers that happen often in the digi-line (and sometimes even in the main story) really takes you out of the experience. The lack of a dub by itself isn't necessarily a huge deal to me, but it's another sign that bamco likely put as little time and effort into the localization as they could. Though you could argue that having the original japanese is preferable to a mediocre dub with poor voice direction which is likely what we would have gotten in these circumstances.

Actually, on the note of the digi-line, it doesn't really add much other than giving you updates on what's going on in the digi-farm. I guess it doesn't necessarily need to be more than that, but it feels like they wanted it to be since you can get texts from npc's that you can reply to. It reminds me of Persona 5's mobile text feature but outside of some redundancy of script that had more of a purpose in terms of mechanics by letting you know when certain confidants were available, which in a game that puts so much emphasis on time management is very helpful.

The other main problem I've noticed is it feels painfully obvious that this was originally a low-budget vita game. The presentation of cutscenes feel kinda stilted and makes me feel that multiple character portraits ala Persona would have been a smarter way to do them rather than have the character models stand there stiffly and awkwardly.

Despite these issues I'd still say this is probably the best Digimon game to date (assuming hacker's memory isn't just a better version of it which I haven't played it to judge) and definitely the one that does the typical turn-based JRPG formula the best. The original Digimon World is probably still my favorite overall in part due to nostalgia and its general creativity but cyber sleuth is definitely up there.

I really hope New Order and the other recent World games come to Switch. And that we get more details on Survive soon.

EDIT: Huh, Word of God◊ on Erika's final fate is different than what's implied in the game. Erika used her new powers to create a new World where she lives with versions of the members of Hudie.

I can tell from the avatar, and I don't blame you, he was probably my favorite of the Dark Masters group from OG adventure. Plus his design always looks cool.

Also, what did you think of the Eater designs from Cyber Sleuth? They are definitely more eldritch then usual, even compared to the D-reaper from Tamers.

Machinedramon is one of my favorites yes.

I actually read that they got Oh Great! (the mangaka) to design the eaters, which is pretty interesting. I like them overall since they look so different compared to anything usually in digimon, but that's the point.

The Mother Eater especially looks like an SMT monster.

Its why I really think an official SMT X Digimon Crossover by Atlus and Bandai would be amazing. Digimon as it was originally conceived was very close to being SMT for kids before Atlus tried their hand at Demikids, because the monsters in SMT are summoned via computers and digital devices, like Digimon live in a Digital world (And even before hand, both were summoned by Onmyouji in the past during hte Heian period, I believe)

Even then, outside of Nostalgia stuff like the Adventure Tri and Kizuna movies, as well as the Adventure Tv reboot (Which is some pretty good stuff, NGL), the series has slowly become more aimed at Kids that already grew up with Digimon then younger kids today. Digimon Survive is basically Devil Survivor's Tactics meets a Lord of the Flies Scenario (Even the name Digimon Survive seems to be based on Devil Survivor's).

The Natural Conclusion would be an official crossover. Agumon and Jack Frost interacting would be cute, Hee-ho!

Yeah, there's an interesting Famitsu interview with him on the design process of the Eaters that was translated a while ago, though it has midgame pic spoilers so maybe read it after getting to Eater Adam.

Found it, it's from the Digimon VG twitter account, there are also questions he answered like the nature of dimensions and Mirei, how Digimon are chosen for a game roster, and why Digimon World games are facing a block in getting off the ground.

Honestly I'd like to see a new World game that has hundreds of Mega level Digimon to use, with DW 3's expansive environment (but please, with fast travel method), the ability to raise your own city like in DW 1, and the ability to mix and match Digimon attacks via permanently mixing two Digimon together like in DW 2.

as for Machinedramon, it's not my favorite Dark Masters (my favorite is MetalSeadramon partly due to being one of my ace in DW 2), but I can see why people like Machinedramon. It's a robotic dragon/dinosaur-like thing with huge cannons on its back that could produce infinite attacks. Of course people (especially kids) love it XD

Also, the Digimon on the watch is determined by the Dim Card (physical memory card-like thing) you inserted into the watch, there are Agumon, Gabumon, Veemon, Blucomon, and Vorvomon available, in addition to Pulsemon.

Now that it's 2021, I really hope we get Survive news soon.

Especially with Fangmon showing up in the 2020 series anime next week.

Fangmon is one of the Digimon that is shown in Survive promotional images, which is notable due to how rarely used he is in any Digimon media.

Yeah, I hope so too. We've heard basically nothing about the game for months since the delay announcement.

Weird update on Survive, Toei stated in their financial report to investors as part of discussing things related to their franchises that they expect Survive to come out in Fall 2021.

Fall is a bit far but good to have some sort of update. Can't believe the game has been delayed for so long but hopefully that means it'll be good.
