Wow. So you're posting on a forum about something literally only you give a fuck about? Good job.

What do you think of the WMG I posted, "Light is a descendant of Miyako Toudaiji"?

I though Miyako wanted to become a detective, though...

[up] I could say about this theory is that it wasn't the Death Note that made Light become the Villain Protagonist that he is, but it's Fin having possessed Miyako in episode 43. It's because after he killed two criminals, Light begins to show remorse for that.

Therefore, it's Fin's fault that Light has become the way that he is. Had she didn't manipulate Miyako, he would be a good guy and get a happy ending instead of being a villain and dying in the end.

Now that I think about it, that makes sense to me.

And now for something completely different.

Are the rumors of a second season even remotely true?

Is there a trope about an investigator guessed right who the bad guy is but lacks of evidence? L is this and that reminds of how Meguro from MW guessed right that Michio Yuki is the Serial Kidnapper, but lacks evidence.

Seems kinda like the Reverse Whodunnit, though not quite.

Well, thank you anyway. That's the trope I'm looking for that Meguro has guessed right who the bad guy is, but lacks evidence.

Death Note is an universal enough concept, so I have no problem with an "american" version. It preferably shouldn't keep close to the original, though. Just that the basic concept (a notebook of death and mind battles), without trying to recreate exactly the story but in a new setting.

Regardless of whether they stick to the original or go off on their own track, the important thing is the execution.

.....not to say that I have a lot of faith in their execution.

And if there's anybody who can handle adapting this—who I'd pay to see how he'd even try to handle adapting this—it's Shane Black.

Pretty much this. Even if they screw it up I'll still be intrigued to see how Shane handles it.

My only real concern is that they'll have Zac Efron for Light and that'll turn off audiences who still think of him as the pretty boy from HSM.

The stuff about the live-action movie being in development is old news.

Hmmm, i had a random thought.

What if the fact that Light is Kira was revealed in later chapters? Then it would focus on L, and it would be a mystery manga during the first quarter. Just a random thought.

If they cast Zac Efron, I don't wanna make a big fuss. For all you know, he might pull of a Brad Swaile on us, and might turn out to be a pretty good and convincing Light.

If you wanna PM me, send it to my mrsunshinesprinkles account; this one is blorked.

I'm not a big fan of live-action remakes of any anime, personally, and the original Japanese live-action is not an exception to that, but it could be interesting to see what they'll end up doing with it. I agree that it shouldn't be a close adaptation. I'd rather they keep the basic concept (the idea of the Death Note) and just do their own thing with it. I'd also rather they not keep the same characters.

I'm thinking of checking this series. However, I've spoiled of the fact that Rem writes down L's name and Matsuda almost shoots Light to death, who then get finished off by Ryuk. Should I still check this out?

This series does have a lovely art style, I gotta give it that.

It's just that I know way too much spoilers about it, due to my history as a Spoiler Hound. The same thing happened with Neon Genesis Evangelion and CLANNAD, btw.

[up][up][up] Yes, you should. Honestly, it's amazing. The manga is great, the anime is great, the voice acting is great, the art is great; everything about it is great.

Besides, even if everything's already been spoiled for you, how it gets there is an interesting ride. I definitely recommend you check it out.

I'd recommend reading the manga and then watching the anime. That's the order I did it in (mostly because the anime wasn't out when I read it). I love the anime, but they do streamline parts of the manga.

Loved the first season. Couldn't get past the first two episodes that took place after L's death and just skipped straight to the last episode. I'm not even a hardcore fan or new of TV Tropes then and EVEN I could tell the second season was ass.

[up] Second part of the manga/anime isn't actually that bad. It's pretty good, tbh. It does take some getting used to though. At first Mello and Near seem like cheap imitations, but they do get a lot more interesting. Light gets even more psychotic and completely jumps off the deep end.
