Does anyone know if you need to be a regular patron to suggest an OHW topic for Todd or it's possible to make a one-time donation of, say, $20? I really want him to make an episode on "Stuck On You" by Failure.

[up] I think it's possible to make a one-time donation on Patreon but be warned that the OHW and Trainwreckords request tier is usually much more than $20. (I think it was about $400 last time.) Oh, and the slots get filled it pretty fast, so you have to be quick. In fact, I think Todd has only one OHW request left to do, so he might be opening up this tier soon.

Just a person. He/him.

[up] Yeah, I was kind of expecting that, given that Todd has been talking a lot about bad MTV Unplugged shows on his Twitter recently.

For those who haven't been following his Twitter or recent Youtube happenings, he might not upload to Youtube for a while because of a change/uptick in DMCA takedowns that's affected a ton of his videos that he's currently working to re-upload.

Is it available anywhere other than Patreon?

Now Patreon is screwing with Todd.

Since I'm a patron, it only charged me for one video instead of two.

He may just want to move to Vimeo, as from what I've seen, they arent nearly as strict as youtube.

He’s got a solid patreon base, but he still has an audience on You Tube. Plus his videos are practically the definition of Fair Use; this is bullshit.

I don't post on twitter, but maybe someone here could still suggest vimeo to him, like mentioned above.

50 videos have been blocked so far, the new Trainwreckords has been delayed after being blocked after being up for a grand total 4 minutes. He's contacted a lawyer and things could be looking up. But until then, the next episode is going to take a while.

While we await the resolution to the Youtube copyright issue, Todd just posted the final OHW request from the latest batch onto Patreon, and it's a doozy: "Jump Around" by House of Pain

It sounds like this might be the last OHW ever.

So here's a question: Given Everlast's huge solo hit afterward, plus DJ Lethal's tenure in Limp Bizkit (Who, like it or not, were absolutely huge for a period of 3-5 years in the late 90s/early 2000s), are House of Pain the OHW that had the most successful "post-hit" career?

Or put another way, as Dan LeBatard might say, "On the question of 'Which OHW had the most successful career after their one hit', if I open the bidding with House of Pain, what's your counter-bid? What've you got?"

(I actually have an answer to this, but I want to hear what others think first)

I'd say Trevor Horn of the Buggles might qualify with the stuff he produced afterwards.

The Irish are indeed the "black people" of Europe, certaininly of England in the not-too-far past. A common stereotype of the Irish in the Victorian age was that of degenerate half-monkeys, an image African Americans are no doubt familiar with. Racist imagery of Africans and the Irish had many similarities. And Ireland was definitely treated more like a colony of England rather than a fully Western European nation. Almost as if Europe stopped at the Isle of Mann.

So, with all that cultural baggage, it should be no surprise that the Irish find it so easy to identify with African American culture.

Tehy are not the only ones, by the way. For a long time, Italians and Greeks were also considered black. They got a lot less of the treatment, though, at least in Europe.

[up][up] If Marvelous 3 qualify as a OHW (and there's an idea for a future OHW ep), then Butch Walker should also count due to his production credits

Considering this is Todd's favorite One Hit Wonder it seems like something to end the series on.

That or maybe he should do an episode on his least favorite one hit wonder...Seasons in the Sun.

Guys, he said it was the last Patreon request from the batch he sold last year, not the last OHW episode.

A bit late getting back here, BUT!

I'd say Trevor Horn of the Buggles might qualify with the stuff he produced afterwards.

This would actually be my answer to my question as well. Or rather, half of the answer. Both Buggles were pretty successful afterward, with Geoff Downes going on to co-found Asia and be (Except for a brief period in 1989) the stabilizing presence amid numerous lineup changes, a la Chris Squire in Yes (Which Downes himself is also currently in!). I'll heavily paraphrase Todd here and say that Horn's producing career is so legendary that it's not even fair, to the point that it overshadowed the fact that Downes's post-Buggles career was far from nothing.

Jimi Hendrix is technically a one hit wonder.
