Preventing investigation into a murder is not cool. But as stated above ![]()
, sounds like there was more going on here. I hope the protestors cooperate fully with police as to finding out what happened and who was responsible.
If they don't police themselves, criminals and malcontents will eat the movement alive without the police having to do anything besides arrest whoever's left standing.

Colin Powell here is saying that OWS is as American as apple pie.
Just because you dont see any reason to be outraged doesnt mean america agrees with you, Doma.
Personally, as a college student with shitty job chances, a mom and dad who worked hard their entire life and never climbed out of poverty, a hometown filled with sycophants who would vote republican solely on the basis of religious conviction and hatred of liberals, and ridiculously asshole politicians like Ron Paul or Herman Cain parading around daily. I feel nothing but seething hatred and outrage for the right and the "Job creators" Not to mention a derisive, sickening hatred of the idea that Hard work and virtue ever gets you ahead in life.

From what I've read about the murder, Occupiers were only positively involved, trying to break up a fight that eventually lead to murder. I wouldn't be surprised if the murderers purposely tried to get their little skirmish into the chaos of the Occupiers just to slow the police down. It wasn't like the Occupiers were doing everything in their power to stop police from investigating.
I'm pretty sure the concept of Law having limits was a translation error. -WanderlustwarriorOnce more onto the bloody turf!
The government's track record at job creation per dollar spent is distinctively crappier than that of the evil rich men.
And you know what: it occurs to me that when you said that government spending is absolutely nothing like individual spending, you didn't mean it. You expect individuals to get bailed out by the same magical money fountain that fuels the government - and then you complain when the country's credit rating is downgraded.
(Also, the mere fact that your neighbors vote differently from you is not oppression.)
Some of them were. Again: it's a coalition, and not one that screens too well.

Hail Martin Septim!
Really? then wheres the magical flood of jobs all the tax cutting is supposed to provide? Have you ever lived in a town where you cant even voice your political opinions out loud without having everyone nearby tell you to shut your mouth or theyll shut it for you or roll their eyes in derision? And frankly, not that I'll convince you, but no, I don't want a magical bailout. I want a functioning safety net so parents dont have to panic to feed their kids when they get laid off work or dont have to delay going to a doctor for years and just hope their health issues dont turn serious because the worst case scenario they could never afford medicating.
as for the credit rating, the agencies specifically said it was because tea party brinksmanship destroyed their confidence in the government's ability to compromise.
if anyone here is astroturfing and strawmanning, its you, Doma.

Astroturfing? I don't think that accusation ever came up in my entire debating career here - among other things, because astroturfing is kind of a waste on a young demographic like this board has.
Hey, did you know that the percentage of people dependent on government funding to live was steadily decreasing until the Great Society set out to abolish said dependence? And then it multiplied within a decade?
EDIT: You have a right to freedom of speech. You do not have a right for people not to roll their eyes when you do speak.

Hail Martin Septim!
Hey, did you know comparing economic data from a completely different economy that was less interconnected and far less productive and where productivity didnt allow 1 man to do 40 peoples work is a really retarded comparison?
Your data means nothing without context on how many people were of working age and working, and or research data into other potential factors for the decline. Kind of like how I cant just say "wages are stagnating because Reagan" because thats a ridiculously simplified view that ignores 99% of factors and trends.

Ease up Midget. The guy's logic may be a little..off..but he's cool.
Doma, I have the utmost respect for General Powell and I believe he's on to something. The United States that existed even 10 years ago doesnt' any longer. People have a right to demand that the government understand this and not keep doing business as if this is still 1983.
It was an honorThe cops are doing a slam job on the movement. They are attacking protesters to get asshole news groups like fox to say "look at these people. they are so violent"
Untitled Power Rangers Story

Mike Tarmo, 31, a native of Sierra Leone, said he also saw the shooting. Tarmo claimed that the group of outsiders simply walked up to a man standing on the steps of the plaza and started beating and punching him. The occupiers tried to step in, Tarmo said. "There were 20 Occupy guys going to help him, saying, Stop! Stop!" Tarmo said the victim of that physical assault was the same person who got shot.
