"I'd like to point out that I am right handed, therefore combat will not occur with my left hand, and a blow to my neck like that would kill me. I shall be okay."
Sec paused for a second.
"Sorry, I meant that I'll be keeping my left hand away from the fighting and if something hit my neck that hard, it would kill me."
Wow, talking naturally was really hard.
Looking up at Atrocitus' address as if shaken from the depths of some deep reverie, Zelda blinked, an imperceptible look of confusion crossing her face - then she seemed to regain her composure, and nodded courteously at the Silver Mage.
"Welcome, friend mage," she said quietly.
"Is there anything we can assist you with?"
She smiled softly, in a gesture of sincere invitation.
"Yes, I am Ratheln," the mage told Atrocious. "Your apology is unneeded, for the events conspired in such way that we had no time for talk."
He looked upwards toward the Ryutan's face. Rubbing his beard, he shrugged, and turned to Zelda.
"Hail, m'lady," he said. "Some information about the weapon we're chasing... Sifuri, is it not called by that name? would be most welcome. I had barely enough time to know the members of this decidedly eclectic group before we were thrown into that ocean... Also, the being who brought me here worries me. Such powers... As they say, power corrupts. Absolute power absolutely corrupts... and I fear that that being's powers are great."
"Sifuri itself is an ancient weapon created by the ancestors of our "employer" for use in the massive war they had in the past," Atrocitus started to explain. "This weapon has the power to very well become a threat to entire universes if it were fall into those of malicious intent. The pieces we are trying find are in fact pieces of the ship that was carrying Sifuri before the weapon was lost, and we need the ship is, subsequently, trace the coordinates that will lead us to Sifuri.
"And to answer the question of why us, it is due to Sifuri gaining sentience during the eons it was lost," the Red Lantern continued. "During that time, it has gained sentience and is, understandably, murderous towards its creator and their descendants. As for Moja himself, I already plan on murdering him if he crosses any lines....." he said, clenching his fist to emphasize. It was glowing red....
DAMMIT MARK, STOP HITTING HELPY!!Warily avoiding the creature that looked like a mutant Behemoth, Shantotto approached Twilight. She had watched the latter part of the exchange between her and Kribnefka, and while she couldn't really say that she had been particularly attentive, she did understand that she had obtained a new magical power.
"Good; a Scholar should never turn down more magics. Speaking of which..." The Black Mage held up another copy of the same scroll she had once offered to the light mage. "...for a magical generalist, you're rather lacking in the White Magic basics. This will show you a basic healing spell. In exchange for this, before our next assignment, I need you to use that transformation magic on me as well."
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in.Turning to face Shantotto, Twilight set the mace down on her desk with a soft thud and smiled at the Tarutaru. Her gift was most appreciated, if a bit excessive in her eyes. She'd already received a good deal of new magic today, no need to top it off. Still, a healing spell would come in handy. She had never bothered to learn any, as she wasn't the type of mare who particularly needed such things and from what she could tell magical healing was a difficult process. There were all sorts of nerves and fibers and such getting in the way and simply shooting raw magic into the wound would do little to help. She needed healing now more than ever.
Still, the offer she proposed was not one to be taken lightly. Performing that kind of transformation on someone else would be difficult, though not impossible. Her general anatomy seemed to be in line with human standards for the most part, albeit significantly scaled down. But there was such more more room for error when performing the spell on another, and she had yet to make her alterations to the original spell and finding a suitable basis for Shantotto's form would take quite a while. She could craft a body from scratch, but that would take even longer and expend much more energy than was necessary. Though there would be some time before she would have to apply the enchantment, so the offer wasn't entirely out of the question.
After mulling it over for a few moments, Twilight gave a decisive nod. "Thank you very much for your offer, Doctor Shantotto. I'd be happy to provide you with a disguise for the next mission. I'll have to make a few alterations to the original spell, though, change a few factors. Shouldn' take too long, though. I must admit, I'm a little uneasy about performing the spell on somepo... someone else. Are you sure you want me to go through with it?" She asked, tilting her head slightly. While she didn't exactly think of the diminutive mage as a friend per se, she was still concerned for her safety.
"You have more than enough potential. So tell me what is the one wish that would make your soul gem shine." -Mitt Romney, probablySeeing that no one had anything intelligent or of interest to say, Urza had abandoned any attempt at conversation and returned to his labs. The assembly and growth of his armies proceeded apace, but he still suspected anything created with all that he had summoned into being through the Nomad technology could disappear as quickly as it had come into being. Therefore, he was engaged in trying to contact any other planeswalker or anyone that he knew from across the multiverse. He would have been pleased even to see Freyalise or Leshrac at this point. But his distress call across time and space had gone unanswered so far. Doubtless some manner of shielding was involved.
He sighed. The team truly did need organization, but he lacked anything to motivate them with on the scale of the war against Phyrexia, as he had with the Coalition. And if he tried to dominate them through fear...well, that was a temporary solution at best and suicide at worst. A subtle form of mind control, though...that might work well. He had then, a few options, magical and otherwise. Probably the one with the most chance of success was the armband strategem. A few simple gifts of artifice for everyone, with the magic subtly embedded so that merely wearing them began bending their thoughts towards channels that would serve him. They could hold devices to interface with brain tissue as well, fully artificial and so minute as to be nearly undetectable. And if it came to it, they would prove excellent collars. Yes, that would do well.
The planeswalker abruptly reappeared before the group, holding a silver Thran-metal wristband.
"I have a prototype of the equipment I've been working on for everyone," he announced without preamble. "Who would like to be the first to field test it?"

A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent upon arriving. -Lao TzuWith a mental command, Urza turned off the mind control function of the wristband. Sky was one of the few people willing to respond to the artificer's commands without the need of such things and he had no wish to risk that.
"It holds only basic functions at this point," he answered. "Illumination, communication, lower-level destruction, tracking time, recording auditory data, extendable blades, levitation, and a sonic device attuned to glistening oil. That last function is useless unless we encounter my enemies, but given the variety of opponents we have encountered, I think it wise to take precautions."
He proffered the bracer to the other man.
"A simple test of all these functions will suffice for now."
A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent upon arriving. -Lao Tzu"It is designed to fit either arm, but only with some kind of padding worn underneath it," Urza answered. "It will be uncomfortable otherwise, but it was either that or make them specific to one arm and I prefer flexibility of design and function."
A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent upon arriving. -Lao Tzu"That's a nice set of features there," Jack said to Urza, "kinda like an iPod. Though, I already got a flashlight and I doubt I'm gonna be needing all those bells and whistles. I prefer a good old fashioned ear piece comm anyday. Also, no offense, those arm bands look a little too much like the kind they give to convicts, or as a proof of ownership. I personally don't like being controlled......
"It probably wasn't your intention," Jack explained himself. "Its the symbolism, ya see. Gonna have to turn it down on principal."
DAMMIT MARK, STOP HITTING HELPY!!

"I would like to test just to make sure," Jack said, lifting up his mechanical right arm.
