Need to limit how many R Ps I'm in, but this one sounds intriguing too.
Avatar from: http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/5953.html N: 5 F, 0/40 SHmm... I'd say yes, but you should probably limit your P Cs to a reasonable number. I'd say no more than two from the get-go.
Support Taleworlds!@ Ominae: Err... actually, no. The post-Qin turmoil that led to the Han-Chu war and the formation of the Western Han dynasty took place in the late 3rd century BC. The Three Kingdoms era took place after the decline and fall of the Eastern Han dynasty in the 2nd century AD.
In other words, this takes place about 400 years before the Three Kingdom era that we * know and love. There are some technological differences between the two era, but none too major.
@ Daltar: Sure, signup sheet a-coming.
And done!

Support Taleworlds!@Ominae: Well let's see...World of Skara Brae
, Dragonblood
, Castle Guarded by the Swaying Cherry Blossoms
and The Gambit
. I know it's only four RPs, but right now Exams are coming in a month so would be a good idea to shy away from signing up to more RPs.
Also, the character I'm thinking of making would be a bit...strange... For one they have something they dub, "Denim Powers"

Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree.
Is that a Tactics Ogre reference?
Anyway, this sounds interesting. May not sign up, but will keep an eye out. How familiar do we have to be with the setting?
Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.- Name: Scott Kentons
- Gender: male
- Age: 16
- Abilities: He is very strong, can move faster than a normal human, has endurance and toughness par the course for a super strong character, flight and weak blasts from the hands. Essentially a low strength Flying Brick.
- Appearance: A shaggy black haired kid with boyish appearances, he is rather tall and despite the geeky appearance, he is quite muscular. He has sincere, very large blue eyes which tell that he is still a kid inside. He usually wears a black shirt with a picture of Shinkiro on it, a blue jacket, black jeans and sneaker shoes.
- Backstory: Unknown to him, before his anomaly status began, he should have been born with a great deal more power than he had. It turns out his grandfather put a Power Limiter on him, mostly out of fear of his powers turning more volatile as he aged. He grew up as an Ordinary Student, though one often bullied and teased for his idealism and anime / manga nerd behavior. However, when he was brought over as an anomaly, that Limiter shattered...
- Personality: Fitting with his Flying Brick status, outside some Genre Savvy and general popular culture knowledge, he is rather dull, both socially and academically. He has very poor impulse control, low knowledge about how the world really works in regards to politics, he assumes people are out to only better one another, and treats any case where someone voices a selfish motive as being "evidence that you are an evil person." He is a Wide-Eyed Idealist who thinks, honest to goodness, that the world is a great place, and that he just wound up put over into one with more corruption. Other than his low intellect, he is a normal American teenager...well, until he found himself back in time. The revelation of his powers gave him a sense that he should be responsible for making sure things end well, but he has no idea how to really do that, nor what defines a "happy ending." He is largely a Fish out of Temporal Water. Otherwise, its very easy for people to manipulate his emotions, as he acts more on Pathos than on Logos.

@Pyrite: No, denim powers are powers based around denim
.

Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree....Oh, I see. Must be a hereditary power then. Because it's all in the jeans.
Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation.@ Nick: Sounds mostly alright to me, except for one particular part: Flight capability. I would like to restrict it so that he can only fly for a short distance at up to an altitude of 40-50 feet. Otherwise, that coupled with his bolt energy attack and the tech level at the time period would mean that he can easily kite and solo small armies, which is a no-no.
Do we have a deal?
@ JAU: I am assuming you are planning a character who can manipulate denim and leather. If so, it might need some nerfing so that he doesn't go out there and strangle entire armies just by looking at them .
@ Screw: A supervillain? In my history?
...
Sure, go ahead.

Support Taleworlds!•Name: Kim Myung-Hee
•Gender: Female
•Age: 19
•Abilities: While she has no real superhuman abilities, Myung-Hee is an incredibly skilled warrior. Years of training alongside the sons of generals have given her exceptional skill with swords, daggers, bows and polearms. Driven to surpass the boys due to her lineage and her gender, Myung-Hee became one of the most fearsome warriors of her time. She became best known for using a spear modelled on the Japanese pattern, striking with supreme grace and speed. Myung-Hee also has decent skill in the fields of tactics and turns of phrase - that is, using words to sway opinions, though sometimes to limited degrees.
•Appearance: Myung-Hee has a striking appearance that accentuates the rarity of her being a woman warrior in her time. Like other women of her social status she has a pale complexion and fine skin. Combine with long dark hair and a 'charming' (as some put it) face, she'd look far more appropriate back at a palace or attending court functions. Instead she dresses in the manner of a man, with trousers and a loose shirt under finely crafted armor. Often she bears a stoic expression, but when speaking her features can be quite animated. In any case, her eyes always seem to be active, analyzing the situation or sizing up another.
•Backstory: Myung-Hee was born as the third child of the King of Silla just after unification under a single monarch (for the most part, as Kogoryo was still holding on in the north), and never intended to be a warrior. After the first heir to the throne died from disease, though, her less than capable second brother was next in line for the throne. The King discovered that he couldn't produce another son, no matter how many concubines he had. Feeling this to be a sign, he had his daughter trained along with the sons of the warrior aristocracy. After she excelled in her training and helped win skirmishes against Kogoryo forces, her other brother was killed by a Yamato (Japanese) assassin. This preceeded an invasion from the east, and a bed-ridden king was forced to send out his best soldiers to confront it - the new heir to the throne, Princess Myung-Hee, in included. She'd just helped win a smashing victory over the Yamato forces when she found herself transported through time as an anomaly.
•Personality: Having been raised with boys during her childhood, Myung-Hee has some masculine tendencies that contrast her looks. While she does have a good mind for tactics and planning, she gets hot headed more often than she should, and isn't above picking a fight if she feels wronged. She also has been known to make lewd jokes like 'one of the guys'. Myung-Hee is quite confident and this makes her both a rock in a sea of chaos as well as abrasive and arrogant to those she rubs the wrong way. While she's not totally pleased with finding herself in her current situation, she's bouyed by the fact that there are others who've been thrust into the same circumstances.

Avatar from: http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/5953.html N: 5 F, 0/40 SWell here are my two entries... A little note is that Elizabeth is a vampire though she will do her best to hide this fact. I might have to discuss with Argeus the extend of her abilities granted by her race however.
- Name: Johan Karvonen
- Gender: Male
- Age: 26
- Abilities: Experience with wielding and double wielding all sorts of melee weapons, axes, swords, spears... The whole sorts. Furthermore Johan's greatest asset would be his incredible strength and endurance... Give him a strong enough axe and he will cut right through a small tree in one strike. The strength of his grip is enough so that he can wield two handed weapons in one hand with no problems. Additionally, his great stamina and resistance means that he can be a beast in the field of battle, able to carve a bloody path through enemy soldiers or become an unmovable obstacle in the way of an enemy attack. Finally, he knows a thing or two about tracking and sailing, knows his way around a blacksmithing and good steel working and his rather crude first aid tends to suit his needs when wounded.
- Appearance: Standing just under two meters tall and with wide shoulders, Johan is an impressive figure, though he doesn't look too monstrous due to the fact that his musculature is rather compact, lending him a wiry build. He has shoulder length black hair and blue eyes. His facial features make him look younger than he is. He first appears on this unknown land wearing shirt and leggings, hard leather boots and gloves, a steel helmet and a chainmail shirt and hide armor over it. As weapons he carries two danish axes, a claymore, a spear,a shield, a viking sword and some daggers.
- Backstory: Bred for war in a cold land full of conflict the youth Johan distinguished himself as a natural warrior, with the strength of several men. Born as the youngest son of a minor warring noble, young Johan had more opportunities than most men of his homeland. He grew up helping his father's blacksmith as he worked, went to hunt with his older brothers and went on to his first battle with a sword in hand.
- Personality: Johan is a mostly taciturn person, way more serious than he should be at his age. He is slow to truly anger but easily to become irritated with something. When not in the chaos of a battlefield he prefers to look for some peace and quiet which in turn made him something of a solitary man in his homeland.
- Name: Elizabeth Smith
- Gender: Female
- Age: 137
- Abilities: Mastery over presence concealment. Elizabeth is the embodiment of a spy, infiltrator and assassin. With her incredible agility and skills to remain unseen there are few places she cannot get to. She is also an able duelist, handy in a fight while wielding her dagger and saber. Aside from this she seems to know a little about the occult arts.
- Appearance: A woman of regular height, with a lean build and extremely pale skin. Her sharp eyes are a reddish brown in color and her long hair is blond in color. She definitely does not look her age as she seems stuck on the prime of her life. She is always wearing a hooded cloak over an unremarkable shirt and loose pants. She also wears a belt with tons of pouches for her tools and leather boots and gloves. Finally, she always carries with her a fine, though unremarkable, saber and a masterwork dagger.
- Backstory: Elizabeth prefers not to say much about her own past... most she will say is that, believe it or not, she was born into a pretty respectable family, a lady born a bred. However, life takes interesting turns sometimes... and even a lady must learn how to adapt or die out. She had to do things that she had spent her whole life condemning. Still... even when you do your best life can kick you in the backside. As far as Elizabeth is concerned being dropped in this foreign land is the best thing to have happened to her in decades. While working for the house of Han Xin she has made a few strange requests... she will prepare her food by herself so she request for the kitchen to send her the animals untouched and alive if possible. If someone of her rank or lower gives her trouble for being quite obviously a woman she will claim to be a man and dare anyone to get through her dagger to dispute her claim.
- Personality: Soft-spoken, polite, loyal and cordial in the face of a superior, Elizabeth will strive to do her best to please those who gave her a second chance in life. With her equals however she is much more lax and relaxed, with a good humor and cheerful disposition Elizabeth tends to be a hard woman to dislike. However, get on her bad side and you will have to endure and endless barrage of unpleasantries coming your way.
@ Bombardillo: Very interesting. I am assuming that this is a historical personality? DO correct me if I were wrong - I am not educated in Korean history beyond some vague knowledge about the formation of Goguryeo (sp?) and the exploits of Yi Sun-shin.
Either way, accepted.
@ Daltar: Absolutely no problem with Johan, since in essence he's like Xiang Yu reborn, and that will be commented on. As for Elizabeth, her current ability set is modest enough to require no nerfing. As long as she can't literally hide in plain sight or pull out other standard * vampire abilities not listed on the page, I'd approve her too.
Support Taleworlds!Sort of. I took what I know about Korea's Three Kingdoms and Empress Jingo Kogo, then made it up from there. She's inspired by and based on Sun Shang Xiang and Tomoe Gozen, though.
Avatar from: http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/5953.html N: 5 F, 0/40 S- Name: Alexei "Alex" Lauvrieg
- Gender: male
- Age: 17
- Abilities: The use and control of Barriers.
- Appearance: A blond young man of a quiet and reserved style of walking and speech. He has naturally curly hair, innocent green eyes, and an "All American Boy" style smile. The smile can get a little unnerving in a manic mode. He is thin and not physically strong. He is more like a gymnast, preferring fast movements to big, strong attacks like his "friend".
- Backstory: Alexei comes from a different, though related, universe to Scott's, He seems to know much about his "best friend", and the two can usually be found hanging out together and talking about geeky things. Alexei very rarely discusses his parents, but when he does, he usually says that his father was a very mean, abusive man who hit his mother and threw beer bottles at him. His mother virtually sacrificed herself when his father, in a drunken rage, tried to set himself and Alexei on fire. Alexei wound up recruited into the Anomalies and made to work with everyone. He is not very happy about how things have happened.
- Personality: Unhappy and fatalistic, Alex dislikes his father intensely, and wishes his mother had just ran like he had. Instead, she tried to stay behind and talk the bastard down. All that resulted was him not being suicidal and then killing her. He thinks that's what happened at least. He cannot remember. He seems to be bipolar, shifting between happy and sad almost randomly. His manic moments is when he is at his most dangerous. Because his alchemy might go into overdrive. He can be rather good at manipulating people, which is a nice talent to have in these days. He is, though, a person with many standards. He is more or less an Anti-Hero, as he thinks if he can bring about the changes wanted here, then he can have what he wants...a normal life. The story of Han Xin, he feels, resonates with him very much.

The year is 197 BC.
Several years prior, the bloody war in the aftermath of the death of Emperor Qin Shihuang had just ended. After many years of being split between two rivaling factions, the Kingdom of Western Chu led by King Xiang Yu and the Kingdom of Han under the rule of King Liu Bang, China had finally been united under the latter following the decisive victory the former in the battle of Cai He. This battle would go down into history, not just as the founding point of the fist stable dynasty of united China, but also as the defeat of a mighty warlord who had lost but one battle yet lost everything because of that one blunder.
This great victory and the subsequent founding of the Han dynasty could mostly be attributed to three advisors and generals of Liu Bang - Han Xin, Zhang Liang and Xiao He, who respectively led the Han king's armies, provided him with valuable counsel and managed his logistics. With their rare talents and loyal service, Liu Bang and his faction grew from the underdog in this war into the victor that he now was. As the war ended, these three exemplars were rewarded accordingly. For his part, Han Xin was given the prestigious title of Duke of Chu, and given the "Three Immortal" privilege - as long as he could "see the Earth, see the Sky and see weapons", no one had the right to take his life, the emperor included.''
However, Liu Bang was not known for his trust for his loyal courtiers. Immediately after he was crowned emperor of the land, he grew paranoid of all those who had helped him to his crown, Han Xin being the one put under the utmost suspicion. This was partly owing to his innate arrogance, partly owing to his military prestige and partly because he held sway over a large portion of the emperor's standing army. Following a charge of harboring a straggler from the old Kingdom of Chu, Han Xin was stripped of his military command and demoted to the title of Marquis of Huaiyin, a great blow to both his prestige and his influence.
That was several years ago. From then to now, many of the emperor's ex-loyalists had been purged or otherwise deprived of their titles and influence out of his sheer paranoia and suspicion. Now, the emperor's wife, Empress Luzhi, paranoid still about the extent to which Han Xin held sway over the fate of their nation, decided to end his life for good. She would, with the unwitting help of Xiao He, lure Han Xin into the court for a banquet, arrest and execute him in a bell tower with a butcher knife, thereby negating his aforementioned "Three Immortal" privilege.
After his death, his entire family would quick to follow. A few thousands of his family members, servants, guests and followers would be brutally slaughtered by the imperial guards in one of the greatest tragedies of antiquity China.
This, however, may not necessarily be their end... Not with the help of the so-called... 'Anomalies' that had arrived in the realms lately. Yet, neither would the new outcome necessarily be good for all under the heavens...
Welcome to yet another history-inspired RP made by me, TV Tropes' resident history freak!
This idea had been on my mind for as long as ten years, since the first time I read about the story of the Chu-Han war and the fate of General Han Xin, one of the greatest generals to have ever graced China throughout the ages. I had always wondered whether the story would be any different had this extremely talented yet ill-fated general be helped by a number of extremely powerful individuals from another dimension. Today, I am testing out that possibility... in the form of an internet RP!
The story begins in the estates of the Marquis of Huaiyin, several weeks before the date Han Xin would historically be murdered by Empress Luzhi and her cronies. Your character are "anomalies" - people from various dimensions and possessing a wide range of power, somehow trapped in this world, brought together by a loyal retainer of the Marquis, who promptly enlisted your help among the marquis' household guards. While he did not expect the historical massacre to happen, your characters' arrivals could not have been more timely.
It is now up to you to thwart the empress and save the marquis and his family and friends. Not throwing the entire country into yet another civil war as a result of the first is a secondary objective.
Rules:
Character sheet: Quite standard-fare actually.
Look forward to hearing from you guys!
