Well, it's not really an "active" series : the third anime season was quite some time ago (and reports about a fourth aren't optimistic), and the novels don't get much buzz.
Still, it's one of my favourite series ever, because it's a fun spy/action thriller with a bit of everything "anime" (mecha, high school, etc.). I'm actually slightly less fond of Fumoffu than most, as it's a bit hit-and-miss and I like the series better when the humour is mixed with the more serious action.
Agree on mixture.
Fight smart, not fair.I couldn't get through Fumoffu. I honestly can't say that it's bad since I barely even tried it, but it simply did not appeal to me.
I found the most annoying parts to be the weapons. Particularly since they were just clones of human weapons made bigger.
Fight smart, not fair.Surprised this went inactive.
Anyways, is anyone else other than me super PO'ed about a lack of a high quality, unified translation for the light novels. Hell, no one over a Baka-Tsuki is making an effort, even though we all know Tokyopop's license rescinded after their fold-up. And I have not seen a hint at all of a translation for Another.
Just why is this series so neglected compared to stuff like Shana, Haruhi, or Toradora?
Because popular stuff must be staying popular, even if they're CRAP
To be constructive, I still think FMP's machines are suffering from Gundam syndrome: not explaining what kind of technology it needs to overcome the Square-Cube Law so that the pair of feet can even support the machine, let alone make it run. Weapons aren't as much as a big problem for me
What profit is it to a man, when he gains his money, but loses his internet? Anonymous 16:26 I believe...Weren't there some lines in the Behemoth Arc to the effect of "A Wizard Did It"?
I would like more episodes like the second season.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. To be specific, Behemoth can stand only because of its all time active Lambda Drive of its own. It took Whispering and Sousuke's dull but direct imagination to harness the power of Arbalest's own Lambda Drive to exploit Behemoth's Drive Field
What I meant to ask is how other non-Lambda Drive assisted machines get to stand and walk without constant metal bending
What profit is it to a man, when he gains his money, but loses his internet? Anonymous 16:26 I believe...Some Black Technology-derived materials?
My President is Funny Valentine.Yeah, it's been hinted that this is some kind of abnormal mechanism going.
Spoiler for novels: This becomes a big plot point later in the novels.
I just want to say that Kyo Ani better get off their duffs and make me my Christmas special Full Metal Panic parody of Die Hard on a Boat with Tessa as the (unwilling) bumbling Meido sidekick.
That novel made me laugh so hard... especially at that Mclaine wannabe going up against Sagara and the rest of the Truthana gang.

Not if Kadokawa can help it.
Remember, a franchise has to be marketable, and FMP never did that well both at home and overseas. Indeed, I recall that the Second Raid actually undersold, which can't be good for any continuation prospects. Hard to convince a funding committee with that.

Lets reanimate a bit.
Manga "Full Metal Panic Sigma" cover novels even after 2nd raid. Quite dark stuff if you ask. Anyway Nami is definitely best heroine in story!
I remember that I liked this show when it was one of the first anime that I watched, but in retrospect it is elevated to ridiculous heights due to nostalgia, while it was basically The Generic Light Novel Action Romcom. All it's missing is Kaname having a more underdeveloped body, and being voiced by Rie Kugimiya, and it would be indistinguishible from Hidan No Aria or Zero No Tsukaima.
Is it? I hardly see any other comment about Haruhi than how mediocre it was, and Shana and Toradora are barely even mentioned any more, but every time Kyo Ani does ANYTHING, people are whining why they aren't working on FMP 4. I would even say that it's getting retroactively overrated for being infamous as "that thing that Kyo Ani worked on before they became popular".
I don't realy thing so. I didn't find FMP realy interesting when I watched it for first time, but unlike Hno A or Zno T I returned to it, and than again and again. And gradualy it becameone one of my most favourite shows.
Its rewatchability is one of its strong points which makes it popular, thats what I belive at least...
What's really sad is that they stopped just before the love story was dropped for more interesting stuff. At least, that's what Sigma has led me to believe.
Fight smart, not fair.Is there any way for me to get my hands on the light novels, paid or otherwise?
Ah, Fumoffu was hilarious. I liked how you didn't have to watch the original to get the humor. Sosuke's so serious but the series is hilarious.
Everything is a lie.Sosuke was the first character to introduce me to the concept of comical stoicism.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. He should be the god of The Comically Serious.
Everything is a lie.He is awesome, still I hope Leonard will win. Even if Sousuke were killed in process.

Finished Season 1 last Friday. Should I watch Fummofu before Second Raid or not?
Fumoffu's a side story. You don't have to, but a Fumoffu event will be referenced at once.
"Exit muna si Polgas. Ang kailangan dito ay si Dobermaxx!"
Talk about Full Metal Panic here. Surprised this series didn't have a thread until now.
I watched the first and second season and read some of the side story novels and I really, REALLY, love this series. I think this series is better in comedy than in drama or action so I loved the second season much more than the first one.
