Because no matter what they do, people will insist on finding ways to interpret it as racist.
What about "Blue" like Megamind? They also did Interspecies Romance in Madagascar 2.
You are displaying abnormally high compulsions to over-analyze works of fiction and media. Diagnosis: TV Tropes Addiction. There's also the fact that, given that Disney mostly does folktales and the like, and thus are mostly in regions (like Middle-Ages France) rather than multicultural environments (like New Orleans), the only way they would be able to do that in the first place is if they did more story transplants like Princess And The Frog.
Anyways, while I would be interested if they did decide to do that, they should be wary - especially if they go about doing it for the sake of doing it.
Lesbian relationships are still mostly taboo in Hollywood. Remember the huge boom of gay-themed TV shows and movies around 2003-2005? Almost none of them were lesbian-themed. Even a lesbian version of Queer Eye For The Straight Guy was almost completely reworked to only include one lesbian in the final show (from five in the original pitch).
In recent memory, you've have The L Word and The Kids Are All Right. And that's about it (unless you count independent films that never run past the Village or shows on Logo).
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/Why not just have an asexual princess for once? Make it No Hugging, No Kissing and play up more on The Power of Friendship
And as for the original idea, there enough movies that send out the Unfortunate Implications of Where Da White Woman At, we don't need Disney sending that out to

An asexual Disney princess would not work. Disney movies have never been about the princess, they've always been about the side characters, the animal sidekicks. Princesses are mostly a side story, which is taken up almost completely by romance. Removing the romantic element of the princess would force Disney to omit the princess and make the movie completely about the sidekicks and villain.

With blood and rage of crimson red ripped from a corpse so freshly dead together with our hellish hate we'll burn you all that is your fateWho cares? Disney princess stories are boring as shit anyhow.
I'll never understand the American cultural obsession with Disney. I can hardly imagine a blander area of pop culture to get head-over-heels about.
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone. If you think something like Lion King is bland then you either have no soul or think non-blandness requires anime tentacles.

I was thinking that most interracial relationships Disney has done is white men and non-white woman plus black woman with a ambiously brown prince who is probably Meditterean.
It would be neat to see the inverse; like for example a white settler girl falls in love with a young Native American chief in training while on the Oregan Trail.
