Its been announced that Level-5 isn't bringing Ni No Kuni over. It's Namco Bandai of all people. They seem to have made a complete reversal on their opinion of the jRPG market in the West, what with Tales of Graces F, Dark Souls (iffy I know), Tales of the Abyss 3DS and now Ni No Kuni.
I found it here: http://www.rpgfan.com/news/2011/2301.html It was announced at the Level-5 press conference.
Well as long as SOMEONE is bringing it over, I can be happy anyway.
Speaking of, I loved the rage over at Neo GAF that the game is doomed to not sell because they didn't localize the title correctly. Correctly being banishing those wretched foreign words "Ni no Kuni" from the title, of course.
Solatorobo, Shin Megami Tensei, any number of games with gibberish in the title, even American ones. I don't think it will be an issue.
BUT THAT MAKES THEM NICHE GAMES INSTEAD OF AAA CALL OF DUTY COMPETITIONNNNN!
...sorry, channeled. I'm just freaking happy we're getting it. Even if they changed to the name, I'd be happy.
What does Ni no Kuni mean anyway?
"The Other World," roughly. Sometimes translated as "The Another World," intentionally ungrammatically. Not for the Zero Wingrish appeal, but to convey the sense that "Another World" is a proper name.
If you want a literal translation, it translates to Second Country.
It basically means "The Second Country". The way it's spelled though, it literally means something like "The Country of Two".

: I stand corrected. "The Another World" was the subtitle for a while though. Then it became something about a crow wizard? And now it's about a black witch.
The Japanese subtitle of the DS version is "Shikkoku no Madoushi", meaning the "The Jet Black Mage". The PS 3 version's subtitles is "Shiroki Seihai no Joou", meaning "The Queen of White Holy Ash".
According to that link, the English subtitle of the PS 3 version is "Wrath of the White Witch".
New trailer. Play it in HD to get the full "Holy Crap, this is all running in game?!" experience.
Namco Bandai, do not ruin!
Dat soundtrack. Also, how the hell did I miss Level 5's Youtube channel. Subbed.

I'm even happier with my buying a ps3 a few months ago now.
Well... 'AAA Call of Duty competition ' is a rather narrow category even if it is highly oversaturated. 'AAA Call of Duty crusher ' on the other hand is thankfully quite a bit broader.

Ni no Kuni delayed until Q1 2013 -_-"
edit: Oh, and apparently everyone but Oliver will be British, for whatever reason...

I think every character might be British because Level 5's had a good track-record with British-sounding characters.
^ and I was more curious about why they didn't just make everyone British. First I thought Oliver's family was supposed to be foreign, but from that trailer it sounds like his mother is British as well.
... and he didn't really say "Porn Star" at the end there, did he?

Only on PS 3?
Localized from "beginning to end"? As opposed to what, only the first two thirds?
