You probably played the Arcade/Saturn/Ultimate version then. There are a few good tracks there, but the PS 1 soundtrack completely blows it out of the water. I still think that "Power is Beauty ~More Beautiful Mix~" is Tina's best theme.
Speaking of the PS 1 soundtrack, why is it still not in DOA 5 (or the remixed DOA 2 songs from Dimensions, for that matter?) Team Ninja has the nerve to tease us with "Superstar" but not give us the rest of the soundtrack? Lame.
At the very least, give me "Megadeath"

Don't ask what's wrong with me, because I don't know either.I dunno about Mario Tennis, but... Look, just search for the following titles: Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball, Dead or Alive Xtreme 2, and Dead or Alive Paradise. For the record, consider that we have assigned Dating Sim as an applicable trope, and that aside from Zack as an NPC and the instigator of the Excuse Plot in the first place, the tropical island settings are populated with nothing but sexy women with curvaceous, buxom figures walking around in a variety of swimsuits, 24/7.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. It's also a decent Volleyball sim.
Although I'll never forgive those games for just being a bunch of teases and not breaking down into full-scale lesbian romance soap operas.
You are not alone.Oh! Oh...so it's nothing like other sports games.
Well it is but there's lesbian romance ava-what do you mean there's no deliberate shipping on this game?
So you mean they are cutesy and touching each other with no emotional investment behind it?
Warning: This poster is known to the state of California to cause cancer. Cancer may not be available in your country. But Kasumi is my PURE WAIFU HOW DARE YOU INSULT HER PURITY THEME!
no wait your right... her other themes are better

This is an outrage against Luminara! This is something that has sort of bugged for a while now. Why is it that 3D fighting games never seem to reuse their old themes, but 2D fighting games do? It's like 3D fighting games have a sort of aversion to nostalgia. If I mention Guile's theme or Ken's theme, you know what I'm talking about, but say something like Heihachi's theme, and I draw a blank, or someone might ask which one. I feel that a good theme helps establish identity, but 3D fighters keep changing every time.
Well, there are some Dating Sim-like Relationship Values, but these seem like they're strictly friendship stuff.

Because 3D games usually compose songs for the stages themselves and not the characters. Although there is sometimes an overlap.
Also, I like "Purity." But "Eternity" is my favorite of Kasumi's themes. That said, "Ketsui no toki" and it's ilk [(Pie-02 Mix, and Hitohira (including the Dimensions and DOA 2 U remixes)] just turn to white noise after a while.
Maybe it's just me, but "Purity" and "Eternity" just have this energy that makes it so much more suitable for a fighting game that the "Ketsui no toki" series just doesn't have.

Don't ask what's wrong with me, because I don't know either. In actual news, there's strong evidence that Last Round is getting a PC release.
Anyone betting that Last Round won't live up to the first half of its title?

Reading tropes such as You Know What You Did
There'll be a Do A 6, the series is strong enough for another game. Kasumi still needs to gut Donovan at the very least, or maybe it'll be Ayane. Ryu's got his own series to be awesome in, maybe with the tech we have these days we can get in depth storylines for each character so you can have Mila end up the hero if you want.
Currently reading up My Rule Fu Is Stronger than YoursI use Kasumi's DOA 3 theme for Sarah in DOA 5 and it actually does sound like it could be in Virtua Fighter actually. It has that Sega-ish vibe to it.
On regards to music, while DOA 5's OST is kind of boring Rig's theme is pretty hype and fitting. Hope they keep it. I'm surprised Rig turned out as cool as he did. I like his prison outfit the most though. The tux and TKD ones look cool too. WATCH OUT!
In all honesty, I like how sharp and hard the impacts of his kicks feel. I even like him over Hwaorang from Tekken.

Customizable soundtracks should be a must for a long running fighting game franchise, in my opinion. DOA 5 does it the best since it gives you the most control. Street Fighter 4 only lets you choose between character and stage themes, and Virtua Fighter 5 FS just lets you choose the soundtrack from one game at a time. Though, SF 4 does get points for customizable language. Kind of wish that was more often implemeted in other games Really, it's all about giving the player the option to craft their own personal experience.
I do agree, Rig actually is pretty interesting. Him and Mila made for pretty good new characters. The DLC characters don't feel quite as original, but I think they're okay. There's at least one more character to be announced for Last Round, and I'm thinking it will be something more original, just not sure what. I wonder if it will turn out like Virtua Fighter 5 R, where Taka came back but we also got the original character Jean.

... Odd. I don't remember any such catchy themes from the times I played DOA1.
