So. I have eight P Cs now pre-made for this game. I have two other possible P Cs, in case interest looks to be higher than currently expected (4-6 players). I've browsed three different threads on rpg.net picking up even more Madness talents, and written up some Exhaustion talents of my own in a similar format. So, I'll let the players pick their PC based on page 1 - talents, surface characteristics - and then hand them page 2 - what lies beneath, what's your path - and we'll have fun with it all.
one of my exhaustion talents as an example:
With power flowing through it

Timothy sighed, staring at his computer screen. He was bored senseless with this job, but it paid the bills. Still, there was only so long he could look at expense reports, shift schedules, maintenance reports … glancing out the door of his office, he reached down and pushed a little switch on his computer. He’d installed this last week, and he knew damn well the corporate overlords weren’t going to catch on. His screen flickered to black, then was replaced by the opening logo of a movie studio. All he needed now was a bag of microwave popcorn.
What can I do?
If it runs on integrated circuits, transistors, or even old vacuum tubes, you know the way to tinker it to do what you want. Hack a computer, view porn at work without getting caught, build your own home security system. It might take you a little time, and a couple of shocks, but it’ll work the way you want it to – while it’s got power, anyway.
1-2 dice: Minor: Get around the firewall at an office, repair a digital watch. Major: Turn a digital watch into a bomb timer, build a vacuum-tube radio.
3-4 dice: Minor: Turn a webcam into a remote control security camera, hack a major corporate website. Major: Fool a handprint reader or retina scanner, repair the Mars Lander.
5-6 dice: Minor: Construct a functional satellite, fix any consumer electronic device in minutes. Major: Hack into the Pentagon, build a humanoid robot.
What happens when I crash?
Your vision’s getting fuzzier than a tv with no input. Time to start looking for someplace to rest, somewhere with nice, comforting, artificial lighting. Probably you’ll start trying to set up an electric fence, built of dismantled VC Rs, old cell phones, and lava lamps, even though you know it’s not going to keep out the Nightmares.
^ You never did find out what happened to her, did you? She was playing a character who suddenly vanished, and then she suddenly vanished . . .
That's Feo . . . He's a disgusting, mysoginistic, paedophilic asshat who moonlights as a shitty writer—Something AwfulNo I didn't. >_> I had some fun ideas where the story was going to go, too.
BTW, you never said what your other instinct was about The Connoisseur. You guessed, on one hand, he was probably secretly evil and working to everyone's detriment (which, ironically, would probably be the obvious conclusion); what was your other guess?

^^ I don't even remember at this point. Sorry.
That's Feo . . . He's a disgusting, mysoginistic, paedophilic asshat who moonlights as a shitty writer—Something AwfulYeah, i bought this game and I love it to bits. Its incredibly easy to ignore the setting and just have it be like a super hero game or something. You might have to change what happens when madness takes over, or at least the reasoning for it or something. Like I think you could mod this game into Puella Magi Madoka Magica pretty easily, or anything else that has a consequence for using your powers.

After reading the other N Wo D thread on the board, which mentioned it, I went and looked up the trope page, then went and got a PDF copy of the booklet. I now have inspiration for a Halloween game (probably in combination with the youtube video "Come Little Children" by Kate Covington). Has anyone else used the system before? The intent, of course, will be for all the pre-gen PCs to head into the Mad City to try and rescue a group of children from the Gardener. I'm considering setting up some conflict between the characters though, making a few of them along to make sure the children don't get rescued (or, at least, not until they've been harvested).
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - Silasw
