Interesting. I thought the last episode was the finale, truth told. I was a tad disappointed, but with this news I feel a bit better.

I'm pretty sure it was due to the fact that it was christmas time and they had lots of work to do (summer blockbusters are having their SF Xs done right now).

... And that resolved nothing. :| Granted, the NCR Veteran Armour was awesome, but still, waiting that long, I was expecting something more... final.

Thoughts:
NCR Ranger Veteran hell fucking awesome I love those guys so much. It's nice to see a representation of just how badass one of those guys would actually be in reality, outside of the limitations of an engine.
The Mysterious Stranger, likewise, awesome. The whole "you owe me" thing also felt much more natural than him simply turning up to protect the protagonist.
I was half-expecting them to miss with the Fat Man at the end. Not sure why.
Lastly, it didn't really feel..."finaley" enough for a finale. As Teebert said, it would have worked better as a mid-season finale or penultimate episode.

There's a reason it doesn't seem "finale-y." And that is that their original plans for the finale were ruined by the set of Eastwood being destroyed. Season 2 originally was to take place there and involve Leon and Red & Larry teaming up. When the set was destroyed by the wildfire they had to reshoot the entire last half of the season. It was supposed to be an 8 - episode season, but all the set-ups for Season 2 were completely ruined. For them scrambling to save the situation, this worked. Still it has us walkg into a Season 2 of "What now?" "What does that ring symbolize?" "What does Leon intend to do?" "What happened to Red?" "What about Larry?" I'm viewing it like a season ending cliffhanger.

Also there's been some small spoiler updates through out the last few months.
1) According to imdb, the Ranger (who apparently for now is being called "The Protector") is in Episode 3 and observent people noticed that it was him who tipped off Twig to head to Eastwood in episode 2 with his lighter.
2) IMDB also was updated with the main cast of the series. The trio, Red and the Ranger are here to stay.

Um... This is the end of Season 1. With the fact the Eastwood set got totally thrashed by a wildfire (aka, it's not there) they probably had to cut the season down to set up for Season 2. I know they were filming pickup scenes well into post production because of it for this upcoming episode.
