As did I. Sorry!
Also: we weren't before?

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Wack'd: No. The fallacy I'm referring to is Arguments Are Soldiers. Basically, so long as I argue X, and someone argues Y, I can never agree with Y, even when there is common territory Z. You see this a lot in tv show arguing, when someone dislikes a character and nothing they do can be justified.
Read my stories!...so what you're claiming is that, once I brought in my exclusivity argument, I stopped arguing because I honestly opposed you and started arguing because it's impossible for me to agree?
That's kind of insulting.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Eh, maybe in another three months. More convenient then.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. How did that debate last so long? Willis was mistaken about which anime it came from (or, perhaps, added the swastika as a bit of artistic license to make it even more obvious what the costume was based on). Fine.
But people cos-playing as Nazis is still pretty fucking stupid. And there's no getting around it. They can claim they're playing a character from a show, but no, they're cos-playing as Nazis.

If you're dressing as a villain, people know you're dressing as a villain. When you're dressing in a Nazi uniform, you're dressing as a frigging Nazi, no matter how you try to justify it as being a fictional character. If I dress up like Charlie Chaplin in The Great Dictator, I'm cos-playing as Hitler.
Because perception matters. I'm unfamiliar with Hetalia, or Hellsing, or a lot of other shows. So if someone is cos-playing as Germany from Hetalia, to me, he's cos-playing as a Nazi. And that is an extremely offensive and insensitive thing to do. Other people will be angry about it, and rightfully so.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics. Many conventions ban 20th (and now 21st) century military uniforms except for active duty military people specifically because of jerkasses who would wear Nazi uniforms and try to justify it with "but I'm playing a character!"
I am reminded of a strip of "After Life" where a fellow wearing a Nazi uniform comes into Saint Peter's office. "You came to apply to get into Heaven wearing that?" "Hey, I was at a costume party!" "Very well, how did you die?" "Well, I was enraged when I saw a white woman dancing with a ni--" "Denied!"
Even in that context, the person dressed as a Nazi is a colossal fucking asshole. That, or an unbelievable idiot. Either he knows he's dressed as a Nazi, in which case he knows people are going to be offended; or it doesn't occur to him that he's dressed as a Nazi, in which case . . . let's be honest, he's not getting through life.
But I would wager that most people who go dressed as Nazis know they're dressed as Nazis. They know that 98% of the people who see them aren't going to think, "Oh, hey, it's this character!" People are going to look at them and think, "Why the fuck is that asshole dressed as a Nazi?!" And I'd bet that most of the people doing it not only expect that response, they want that response. They want to offend people. That's why they're doing it: Shock value. And doing it in a costume environment allows them to get away with it, because they can say, "Hey, I'm just dressed as a character!" Yeah, and that character is "Unbearable Douchebag."
There are a few people who do it as a sincere homage to a character or a story. Most are doing it because they're trolls. The context is just the only thing that keeps them from getting their asses kicked, because they know if they did it in the real world, they would be killed, while if they do it at a convention, they'll just get dirty sneers and maybe be asked to leave. Which would just give them a chance to get self-righteous by bitching about victimization and Political Correctness and all that bullshit.

Different situation. If you are not in a context appropriate situation, you can't use "but I was in a party" as an excuse. People there will be weirded out and will likely not get an explanation until you explain to them. So, if you want to cosplay as a nazi character, be sure to only wear the costume where it is appropriate. Change in the bathroom or anything.
Frankly, I find people who are offended by nazi cosplayers to be akin to people who are offended by "whitewashed" cosplayers. It is fucking dumb.

You are assuming too much. Yeah, assholes who want to piss people off exist. They will piss people off dressed as nazi or not. There is no much you can do except avoid them. But if someone is dressed as Hetalia's Germany, I wouldn't ever assume they want to piss people off. Only that they like a character and want o have fun dressed as them. I find people who bother trying to stop their fun to be the assholes ones. Specially if they have no reason to be personally offended, and are just engaging in white knighting social justice.
Thanks. I agree fully.

Heatth: It's more of a spin off, and it's cause, well, someone in hasbro really wants more money.

Well, yes. What I mean is I wonder if this is a good idea. If you take away to novelty, doesn't it risk turning the show more generic and, thus, risk selling less with ht. Wouldn't be smarter to make something else with ponies instead?
But, well, I know not much of marketing or ponies. Clearly someone thinks it is a good idea. I just wonder why is that.
Oh. Well, I think it's both a good and bad idea. Good idea in the sense of, like I said, wheeh money and toys. Bad idea in that I doubt it has any long term stay.
Read my stories!I think Ultracar should meet Nick Zerhakker. And then totes make out.
Ah, okay. These "come to Jesus" strips make more sense if I know they're making fun of similar Sonic fanart. Lolz.
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]

Hm? Sorry, got into debate mode there
Wack'd: Are you seriously asking that? I think you're arguing for the sake of arguing by this point.
