You can change your display name by making a Tropers page and creating a Custom Title for it. However, we will only approve cosmetic changes, such as capitalization or punctuation. No complete name changes.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"A name change could result in others' posts being nonsensical, so it seems to be like posts should keep the name they were made under(possibly with a display of your current name). That being said, is it against the rule to create a new sockpuppet if you kill the old one
first?
Ninja'd.

Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanSockpuppets are not against the rules, but you need to do it from a different IP. Once you have a sockpuppet, you can use it from any IP you want, all other things being equal. However, we do still limit sockpuppets per IP, even if it's hard to trip it under the new restrictions.

I'm pretty sure the sockpuppet checker that trips the auto-ban feature has addition criteria other than just IP addresses for searching for sockpuppets. The IP address thing is just the indicator that tropers can use to find out how many handles are being used on their IP addresses.

So that we can change our display name? It used to be possible with sockpuppets but since we are no longer allowed to make them we cant do that any more, and some times for a variety of reasons you may wish to change your name but you can't. That is why I would like to suggest an option in your profile to change your name.
