This can only end well.

Joke? Why are you calling it a joke? You drew a picture of two dudes hugging and wrote "I love hugs!" on it.

Is this the dumbest Joyce moment yet in this continuity?

I feel like this might be in the top twenty dumbest moments in this continuity full stop.

This is so short sighted.

Yeah, this is 100% peak stupidity.

No doubt. Barring the antagonists' occasional lack of sight, this has got to be the stupidest moment in the comic. Nothing good will come out of it for anybody involved, other than the three seconds in which Joyce gets to pretend she's Jacob's girlfriend. Maybe not even that.

The dumbest? Surely not when we've consider previous dumb dumbs that had far worse risks.

Like, bringing a gun onto a collage campus, or using a grappling hook on a moving car while you're on rollerscates, or allowing a neer stranger to film you having sex with them, or declaring you're doing a robbery with no prior forethought, or entering an alcoholic suicide pact.

Hmmm. I feel like I need a buzz feed listicle of dumbest dumb dumbs done in dumbing of age.

I did bar the antagonists' actions, so I wasn't considering Mr. Gun on Campus.

This action by Joyce gives nobody anything. It's an easy lie to disprove, and when it is, Joyce loses most of her chance on the guy she likes, makes a quick enemy off of Raidah (who was previously dismissive of her at best), proves herself unreliable to a new person and probably whoever hears of this story, and probably disappoints a few people along the way. And she does this now for... actually, what is Joyce's reasoning here?

I'm just saying, considering how much she gets out of this compared to how much she can lose from it, it does seem to me like the dumbest non-life threatening decision in the story as of yet to me.

Joyce's action feels dumber because it is a sudden turn into crazy. Amazigirl was established reckless while doing her stunts and she had motivation to risk herself for an actual heroic act. Toe is a fanatic nutcase. Robbery is a result of a long slide into despair. Suicide pact is a result of both of them having two psych conditions apiece. So on.

Honestly, since the whole sequence with Toe Dad, I interpret Amazi-Girl's heroic acts as "here's what Willis wish would happen in real life to avoid this bad thing".

But yeah, that's mostly it on the others. They're all established to have a problem that leads into their decisions. Joyce... just kinda did it. Dunno why.

Ah, yes, she gets bonus dumb points because she has no true motivation to do this either, other than shallow fantasy fulfillment.

Could this be some sort of odd, twisted birthday gift to Sarah, who was trying to set up Jacob and Joyce?

I'm hoping she'll call it off as a joke on tomorrow's comic.

I suppose it is kinda weird that Jacob did tell his so much more about Joyce than Raidah, but I'm sure there's some explanation for that.

At this point, she could still manage to back out with a "girlfriend? Oh, I thought you meant girl friend..." A lot of human conversation is based on assumptions and it's perfectly reasonable to go quite astray before realizing that error. But she's rapidly approaching that point of no return.

If this goes any further, I'll begin questioning if Robin pulling the Drama Tag affected the entire multiverse, and its effects are only now hitting the Dumbingverse.

Five bucks says Joyce immediately feels guilty and lies and says she misheard Harrison and thought he meant "girl friend" and not "girlfriend".

Ten bucks says Harrison is largely nice but he has a character flaw that will make him come across as less likable since he can't be too perfect.

Fifteen bucks says Jacob will break up with Raidah but will turn Joyce down and would rather not ruin the friendship they have.

Twenty bucks says that Jaime is going to be the new fan fav for some time. He is already one for me and I feel no shame in saying I love this baby and think he is absolutely funny and adorable!

Also, anyone know who this "Mind Y" is? They're listed in the tags, but there isn't any other character in the strip, and this is the only strip they're tagged in.
