sorry but i accidently pushed the enter button while i was typing this post. and the title is supposed to be "indie A.K.A hipster music". anyways lets get to where i was going with this mistake of a thread.

i guess why i started this thread was particularly for the reason why as soon as some one he or she listens to indie music people automatically assume or label that person as a hipster, which leads to the conclusion that he or she is a hipster and that that person is a pretentious moron who just listens to it to become cooler than you are.

besides why should you label some one as bad just because one listens to any sort of music, or rather a imply they are bad. why why why.

i actually know a few people who listens to indie music because they like indie music, its just their thing. just like how people listen to "shitty mainstream" pop music, they do it because they just do.

why should any label be considered an insult? can't people just be what they want to be without other people looking down on them?

sorry for this overly long rant, just something that i have been pondering for a long time now.

Today is a sunny day!

Pack mentality causes people to start dividing themselves into "us" and "them", and to start making nasty assumptions about "them". Music fandoms are no different.

We try to avoid that 'round these parts, but we're not perfect.

I like how Indie Music is it's own genre now somehow. I listen to a lot of bands on independent labels, but they definitely aren't what people would think of as "Indie Bands".

I guess it ultimately comes from the fact that working independently in the music world has, at least since the late 1970s, often been a statement against the mainstream music of the era. It's a kind of rebellion; rebellion is often thought of as "cool," therefore attracting people who want to look "cool," i.e. hipsters.

Or, alternately, contrarians and freaks. But whether or not being either of those is "cool" depends heavily upon who you're asking.

I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.
