The central purpose of this thread is for an RP I will be running in the, well, Roleplaying forum. It is invitation-only and this thread here is in place of a signup thread, and will be where the players infodump for the setting. That being said I'd like to hear Worldbuilding's ideas too (only fair since we're using your space!) and perhaps if I or one of the other players like your idea, you'll get an invitation too. With that in mind (and also the fact you may not get an invitation) I'd like permission beforehand to use the contents of any posts made in this thread, even if for NPC empires or what not. With that disclaimer out of the way, here's the premise; A number of players would control empires and specifically one representative from this faction that would be trusted by the sovereign to speak for the nation as a whole. The RP would be freeform, no plot but for the political interactions between the empires, and the personal relations between the characters, unless the players decide on somethign they'd like to try and one of them is willing to GM the arc, after which it'd return to business-as-usual except, of course, for whatever changes the arc brought about. Players would control this significant (and probably Suish even, considering their status and the skills they'd need for it- the main reason this is invitation-only) and their empire simultaneously, so if another character requests audience with a sovereign, or if a battle takes place (which for the love of God should be discussed beforehand if when it happens) the necessary individuals would be in-place. They could even illustrate internal affairs and internal politics of their territories in 'isolated' posts consisting of short stories or similar. I'm looking for a group of skilled roleplayers and/or worldbuilders to build a galaxy (though not a whole one, more a portion of one but whatever) of small or medium-sized nations, each one contributing their own. Cultural and societal details, military distribution, government and administrative setup, everything like that. Territories are to consist of up to 30 planets and a total population of 100 billion, so nothing too big. The setting would have a tech level to the point that, while advanced, FTL drives are very difficult to engineer and expensive to build, so starships would be rare (As in you can conceivable list the entire naval assets of your empire, lets say a rough guideline of three FTL starships per one billion population) Use common sense. Earth cannot be one of your holdings, and for the purposes of this RP nobody knows where it is, but it can be mentioned or even an integral part of the history of your empire. I'm currently running off a simple backstory that Earth, after achieving a state of peace and an interstellar Golden Age amongst its many colonies, was overrun by a superior alien race that has yet to be seen again. Therefore your empire can be entirely new aliens, entirely new humans/humanoids, or a human/humanoid nation descended from fleeing Earth colonists. We have four Human factions already, kinda full up here. I have already passed out the first 'round' of invitations, but as I said at the beginning if you haven't received one and are interested, or even just passing through, please contribute your ideas.
