The AV Club also thought that Flipped was a worse movie than Vampires Suck.
More Buscemi at http://forum.reelsociety.com/I thought it was kind of cute, but Jess felt a bit too Manic Pixie Dream Girl, and I would've liked Schmidt to be a bit more characterized.
Coach is cool, but Brad is better and Nick is actually the best out of the three men.
The female friend, on the other hand, seems to have been taken directly from Sex And The City, and that is not a compliment.
Over all, I think it can evolve into a cutesy sitcom, and we know we're gonna wait for episodes and episodes for Jess and Schmidt to get over it and get together...
I just hope New Girl doesn't do like Zooey's sister Emily's show, Bones and tease us for years and years...
Oh, and one last thing; was it only me that had the impression that were was something a bit more than bromance between Nick and 'The Schmidt' at first?

Saw it on Hulu. Could be better. Coach has supposedly been recast; because, Wayans is on Happy Endings. There were some odd visual elements in the pilot(multiple urinals in an apartment bathroom, Zooey showering in a bathing suit). I like Zooey, but the timing on this show is a bit off. I'll give it a few episodes to see if they fix it.
I'm...not liking this show so far. I'm sure Zoe Deschanel is a perfectly fine person, but she just does not emote well on screen, and the writers just seem to be trying far too hard to have her character come off as "whimsical." As a consequence of this, none of the character interaction comes off as organic or believable at all.
It's certainly possible that they could turn it around at this point, but as of yet, I didn't particularly like what I saw.
I draws things. And I seem to be some sort of marine entity.I watched one-and-a-bit episodes. It is awful.
"You want to see how a human dies? At ramming speed." - Emily Wong.I'm about two episodes behind on this show after a short marathon on my DVR, and I have really enjoyed it so far. My wife and I have had several laugh out loud moments, especially on the episode where Justin Long's character makes an appearance.
Zooey Deschanel is the perfect actress for the character she plays.
Visit my contributor page to assist with the "I Like The Cheeses" project!I watched the first episode last night, maybe my expectations were too high but it was a bit Meh.
Hopefully the writers are still finding their feet, but they seriously need to drop the fast paced 'punch-lining' of gags. Not every scene needs to be cut off with a hurried visual gag when they reach the two minute mark. Back in the day Everybody Loves Raymond, would have scenes going for five even ten minutes without feeling the need for a cut away. That took some real fucking commitment to story and New Girl needs to show a level of restraint with it's pacing if it wants the audience to have any sort of emotional investment to the show.
On the up side the characters are sympathetically flawed and likeable rather then being generically nice or 'comically' dickish to each other and who doesn't have a soft spot for Zooey Deschanel? So I will give the show a few more episodes before I come to a final say on it.

The pilot is avibable Comcast's On Demand thing, and I watched it. I liked, it wasn't impressive, but it could have been worse. I liked Deschanel's character, she was sympathetic and charming, but the guys seemed a bit too shallow as characters, and the cutaways got annoying, although cutaways are a bit of a peeve for me unless they work well, like in 30 Rock or Arrested Devolopment.
It doesn't look like one of the most promising shows of the fall, but I do have hope that it'll get better as it moves along. I have hope that it gets better around Episode 5 or so.
The fact that the hipster scum on the AV Club detest this show make me like it even more.
It's metafiction about metafiction about metafiction. More serious message: Don't you wish you watch everything that happens in the wo
