There was an episode where they imagined themselves all grown up as well. I don't know, that had a comedic bent to it. The dramatic take on it I like.
icarly is a show where they "aged things up" but the show's wacky DNA was visible. It really felt as if it was the same show x years later without just being edgier.
I'd like to see that for Ed Edd n Eddy.
Then again yeah, part of the show's magic is that they're kids treated with their own autonomy, pretending at adulthood.

I always liked this exchange:
Double D: I didn't know you played the violin, Ed.
Ed: In my mom's dreams I can!

see my completed Tangled (Varian) fanfic collection! https://archiveofourown.org/works/24467056/chapters/59049532Anyone find it sad how little everyone that isn't Eddy cares for how poorly treated Ed is by his family (or at least his mother and Sarah given his dad isn't brought up much) and most even supporting Sarah over him? Heck, even his own friend Double D had no problem selling Ed out to his mother in Stop Look and Ed and Mission Ed Possible (despite Ed pointing out in the latter that he'd be sent to live with his aunt for getting bad grades) with zero guilt.

All the eds have horrible home lives. Double D parents are never home but leave him with a ton of ultra specific commands, ed's mom and Sarah scream at him constantly, and until he moved out Eddy's brother regularly bullied him.

That is Double D's wish fulfillment. Being able to actually cow Eddy and Ed into submission. But people do ignore that Double D has his own screw ups when it comes to the scams.

Eddy being the only one willing to help Ed stand up for himself is still one of his best moments as a character.
Certainly gets Heartwarming in Hindsight for Eddy being the only one who gives a crap about Ed's horrible home life when you realize his own issues with his brother.
Also, anyone remember which episode had Double D be the reason a scam failed? We've seen a scam's failure caused by either Ed's stupidity, Eddy's greediness, or both Ed and Eddy's recklessness, but has Double D also cause a scam's failure?
Double D doesn't self sabotage as often, though they make a point he isn't as productive to scams as he thinks he is, Ed and Eddy ruin a lot of them, but some wouldn't even get off the ground if Double D had full control over them like he so often bemoans he should, either because of his OCD nature (eg. counting every grain of sugar he puts into their drinks for their Lemonade stand) or because of his tendency to nitpick and be obsessively logic prone. He will straight up root for a plan to go wrong if he thinks it doesn't work within the realms of common sense.
There also tends to be a lot of Jerkass Has a Point with Eddy when arguing with him, Double D doesn't like to accept blame despite still making the resources for scams (which admitedly aren't often foolproof and in fact downright dangerously sensitive), or spends more time criticising Eddy than actually having any good ideas himself. One time Double D was smugly nitpicking a bad idea, Eddy asked him to think up a better one. There was a pause......and Double D continued nitpicking.
At the very least, the Imagine Spot of a perfectly competent and (somehow) ethical "scam" if Double D he were calling the shots is definitely a delusion on his part.

He took the name "Double D" and made a crack that Edd was Eddy's girlfriend.
Double D is a derogatory slang for a woman with large breasts.

I watched the teaser for that. I liked the bit at the end where they did a remix of the whistle from the show's intro.
In contrast with the cheerful tone of the original, the whistle in this teaser comes off as almost somber. It evokes a sense of nostalgia and bygone days, and gets across the fact that the Eds and their neighborhood are growing up and moving on with their lives.
Disgusted, but not surprised
