The Home Page has a line warning that complaining isn't allowed, which is good, but shouldn't their be a line about how gushing isn't allowed either?

Gushing is not not allowed, just, not exactly welcomed. I think the part about celebrating fiction has some on it, on not exaggerating stuff and making sure we deliver useful info.

It could be something like this:

"We are also not a wiki for bashing or gushing over things. Once again, we're about celebrating fiction, not showing off how snide and sarcastic we can be, or how much we can brag up what we like."

I like the wording Willbyr presented.

I also like Willbyr's version better than what's on there now, but I'm not sure if the home page is the best location for that disclaimer; as the next bit points out, it's talking about what we are not instead of explaining what we are.

Should we set up a crowner or something?

Considering the home page is Eddie's purview, I'm inclined to say "wait and see what he says", although when that would be is anyone's guess.

How do we summon Eddie?

Since we're after Eddie specifically, we can PM and ask him to comment on the thread (summarize it though).

Read thread. Sent PM.

I kind of find it funny—I've seen people on the forums talking about how they should summon Fast Eddie for his opinion tons of times for many different reasons. But no one ever seems to actually send him a PM. It's always like "Eh, someone else will do it". wink

Jeez. Two PMs to come have a look at this.wink I'd rather not change the home page in this way.

The important point is that we don't want snide sarcasm. Gushing is much, much easier to deal with. Also, the idea is to keep the home page very minimal so people will get on with looking at the tropes. Promising people that they're not going to get bogged down in bunch of ass-hattery is good enough.

[up] Oh, two PMs? Well, doesn't my post look so pretentious now? grin
