But isn't the analysis page meant to analyze works themself?
If we need more indepth information on a trope, then there's something wrong with the description itself. I'm not sure why we need this for tropes.
Quest 64 threadYou can always analyze a trope, you know.
The main wiki is for saying "ok, this is a recurring pattern in media, and this is the form that pattern usually takes." It's not about the why, just the what. Analysis let's the people who can't keep their "why is it like this?" thinking to themselves put it outside the main page.
I like this idea...
I am now known as Flyboy.People also tend to build up junk on the description about what the trope means, what it represents, what the symbolism involved is and other cruft. The example I generally use is that everything on Analysis.Zombie Apocalypse was imbedded in the description on the main page. This is bad.
Fight smart, not fair.I was also thinking "if you want to leave you're own interpretation, instead of leaving a general view that might be fiddled with, sign your name and break a section off".
Fight smart, not fair.I know this wouldn't exactly be a priority, but I think a nice identifying feature for the Analysis button (if it hasn't been done already) would be a magnifying glass, since I think it would be nice and clear what it means.
Also, I think that this is a good idea, although we could probably do with more analysis pages (I have to admit that I'd do it myself if I was actually any good at picking apart things to see how they tick).
Locking you up on radar since '09

Like a YMMV button on any work page, I think we might get less description cruft if we made the analysis page better known. I think it would also be good if it had a brief description/link to what the Analysis page is for.
