That sounds like it would be very hard to code, and would result in a lot of words that are wiki words not being rendered as such...
I am now known as Flyboy.Well, I don't code, so I'm just going off my impression of what it seems like it would take, just looking at the system. You'd have to have some kind of cut-off or complex system to determine if it's a trope or not.
You could say that any wiki word that isn't actually a trope name would simply not work, but we use those in the forums for fun things... ![]()
And, even if it were wiki-only, we need the non-article redlinks to create new articles, so...
I am now known as Flyboy. On the other hand, if things like DVDs would automatically not try to Wiki Word-ify, that might be nice. Something like not auto-linking any string that consists of all caps followed by an s.
It's already been suggested that pure initialisms not automatically Wiki Word unless you { } bracket them. It's somewhere vaguely on the list kind of.
Un-wicking PRLC stuff is not going to happen; we need to be able to track them down and remove or escape the wicks when they occur.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"But on a related note, a (for lack of a better term) Wiki Word Blacklist could be a useful feature in some cases. E.g. C Ds, NP Cs, etc. that aren't intended as actual Wiki Words.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.

Would it be possible to go one step further and make them Not-a-wiki-word? Such as, have a special filterlist that would automatically translate Sat AM into SatAM ?
Next question: Would it be worth the effort?
